    I might have missed it but did you put a fuel commander in to accommodate for the new exhaust and air filter? I’ve heard doing those mods without one can actually lower the power of the bike

    • @liorelbaz
      @liorelbaz  3 года назад

      No I didn't. On some bikes yes. On the Yamaha XT you can feel you get little more power loose weight and it sounds good.

    • @phantomshtter
      @phantomshtter 2 года назад

      How is it not running lean then? High flow filter = leaner. Higher flow exhaust = leaner. Bikes run lean from factory already, significantly lessens reliability long term. But hey, it sounds good now.

    Besides the aftermarket tailpipe, is there anything that can be done to increase the performance of this motorcycle? Drill holes in the air box? Go down one tooth on the front sprocket? Big-bore kit? I rode an XT250 Yamaha a couple of years ago (for a day, off-road) and found it grossly underpowered.

    • @liorelbaz
      @liorelbaz  3 года назад

      We installed air filter from KN but we had to clean it every ride when riding on dirt.
      I like keep engine stock then the bike is reliable and last long. You can do bigger sprocket in the back. Yes he's not most powerful bike but he will take you where you want to go.

  • @tms372
    @tms372 4 года назад

    Did you have to reprogram for the pipe. Normally you don't get much power increase without. Thanks.

      @liorelbaz  4 года назад

      Maxx no I did not , some bikes need the XT no need it run well with fmf and kn air filter.

  • @macneoh7418

    Take off the heavy mirrors and replace with powermadd mirrors that flip out from the handgards. The handgards don't have to be powermadd to work with the mirrors. Remove and hardwire the kill switch on the kickstand too. This will save you some more weight and make it better off-road. Great looking bike and modifications. Ride safe.

    Now that you've had this bike a little while with that exhaust how do you like it? I have seen others complain that it will melt the rear fender. Have you had this issue? how many miles have you put on the bike since you installed the exhaust?
    Thanks for the videos and sharing this information.

    • @liorelbaz
      @liorelbaz  4 года назад +2

      South LA Hiker The FMF pipe definitely make the bike sound better lighter and give a little bit more power combined with the KN air filter I did noticed it start melting on the rear side but was noting series just blackness so what I did is put a longer bolt and a spacer against the Fram to push the pip more out.

    does removing the cover on the front headlight open the bike up to any issues? looks great, I'm thinking about doing the same to mine. Just curious if you think the open access could affect the electronics

    • @liorelbaz

      We end up putting the headlights cover back. Just to keep everything protect and clean.

    • @ngzcaz
      @ngzcaz 3 года назад

      I took mine off before I went out in the dirt. At minimum it would have been scratched badly or at worse broken by now. It really is a show piece rather than a protection device. If you don't want to mess with another rear fender setup just cut off the piece that extends down from the license plate. It's amazing how much better the bike looks w/out it.

    You added weight while loosing good visable signals. should have raised the lower fender an inch or two, to keep engine safe, removing it was not the thing to do. Put the cover back on headlight, looks so much better, Chain guard has a purpose. That muffler will melt rear fender. The K&N air filter will ruin your engine, stock paper filter is much better. The K&N with oil on it will plug with dust very quickly restricting air while allowing dust into your engine. K&N is good for one day race but changed out before next race. It keeps out larger dirt but smaller dirt will pass through into engine. Not made for everyday use. Buying K&N filters just because it is the cool thing to do is being like a sheep. And buying tires based on how cool they look is a waiste of money. Your original tires work plenty well for the low powred machine like the XT250.
    Good video. Like the hand guards.

      @liorelbaz  8 месяцев назад +1

      Too many things, you mention for me to answer.. I agree on KN air filter. He gives slightly more power because of the airflow but no good for serious off road and I cleaned it every single ride.
      I’m not agreed on tires The stock tires no good for what we do. All the cosmetic it’s hate and love relationship. Thanks for your input. By the way, we only had the bike for a year or so we move on. It’s a great little bike.

    • @calsportsclub
      @calsportsclub 6 месяцев назад +1

      many opinions not stated respectfully some of them I would have said f-off. performance stuff straight up. cosmetic is taste and everyone has an opinion and you know what they say about that. Stock tires suck and its a bonus if they look cool bro and he never said he bought them because they look cool - a bit of troll - do you own a XT?

    • @JustMe-dv5ix

      @@calsportsclub Yes I do, I am on my second XT250, I sold my 83 XT250 and bought a new one, good bikes to buz around on, Stock tires has always served me well, and the only bike I have put on spetaly tires on was my strung out 650 BSA that I ran the PNW circut hill climb's, in the 1970's.
      I grew up when bikes were made to run and not nesseserly looked neet, they were some, back then chrome was tthe bling. My 750 four was kinda of fancy and was a pretty good streat bike and my favorite dirt bike for buzzing around on the dirk was a Kawasaki 350 Big Horn.
      For the compition hill climbs as I mentiond was a 650 BSA with fram extended out about 18 inches

    Why would you get rid of the passenger pegs but leave the passenger grab bars? Makes no sense. Getting rid of a chain guard is the dumbest thing a biker can do. When I see the k&n sticker on a used vehicle Im considering... I walk away. They flow more air cause they dont filter the air intake as well as paper elements and half the time they come absolutely soaked in that red oil they use, people just throw them in to drink that shit up.

    • @liorelbaz
      @liorelbaz  2 года назад

      The 250xt it's heavy bike and under power every wight I can take out or make it look cleaner I will. We have no used for foot pegs or chain guard. Only street legal bike have chain guards. Never see it on dirt bikes motocross. and for foot pegs loosing weight and something you can get caught and get hurt from the pegs when off-roading that good for me. The hand grab handle as far as I remember it's part of the rear frame I'll not cut it out. For KN air filter I'm agree not best protection but we clean it every single ride normally on weekends and never soak in lots of oil just enough for that day. My wife sold that bike over two years ago we had it for short time it was a fun bike we move on.

    • @phantomshtter
      @phantomshtter 2 года назад

      @@liorelbaz k&n air filters are designed to have extremely long service intervals. Cleaning and oiling them every ride is not only redundant but detrimental to their cotton element and completely negates their main intention. They really only filter well once they're broken in (dirty) and constantly oiling them only assures constant intake of residual oil to the motor internals. That crap gums up a motor.

    • @liorelbaz
      @liorelbaz  2 года назад

      @@phantomshtter the xt250 air filter so small and will get fullly dirty in one day and specially when wife riding behind me or other friends. Bike will start acting under power and I don't want dirt to pass the filter so it's much better to clean it after a good day ride to insured safely for the throttle body and intake.

    • @ngzcaz
      @ngzcaz Год назад

      You keep the grab bars because it's the absolute best thing to lift the bike when you have a tip over or the bike goes down in the dirt.. Congrats if it's never gone down... it will at some point in time... You are right about the K&N filter, and chain guard..

The grab handles are ideal for pulling this bike out of a stick mess or up a little hill - helped me numerous times.
