    Thanks man! Got the same year, make, and model recently. I've been riding for 35 years, and I love this bike. What's not to love about an old-school 1980s trail bike with tags. This thing pulls like a pack mule and goes through some pretty gnarly trails.

    I had a '87 XT 350 as a teenager and watching your videos makes me want a dual-sport again! Does Yamaha not make the 350 anymore? I tortured mine and it never broke down. Cosmetically nothing has really changed on the XT. If it ain't broke don't fix it I guess. Whoever designed the hand guards with the foldout mirrors is genius. Got me really wanting one now.

      Yeah, no 350 in the current Yamaha dual sport lineup. TW200, XT250, WR250R. That's it. Which is really kind of strange if you ask me. I think a WR350R - WR450R would be great to have.

    I went from an xt225 to a DR650. I JUST sold the DR after 8 years of faithful service. Going to pick up an XT250 as the DR was a bear in the dirt and tough to pick up at 420lbs (heavily modded). Love these XTs.

    Greetings from BC Canada! I have a 2016 XT 250. 1100km on it now. Such a great little bike! I agree fully on the Bridgestone TW stock tires, great on the road and in dirt but mud, throws that XT around big time. I just had shoulder surgery last week so unfortunately I won't be riding for quite some time 😒 So I've decided I'll be doing a bunch of mods. Change tires, like to get a tach installed. Tighten up suspension, KN air filter and fmf powercore exhaust and of course aftermarket foot pegs! Took the passenger pegs off, lighten it up a little! Cool vids and I've subbed! Ride safe brother!

    I just bought the 2018 model mostly because it's the only one I could sit on with my feet touching the ground. It's a great bike and not short on power. Maybe it's not the fastest, but it plugs along just fine in the dirt or on the road.

      I said the same thing. I got over racing 30 years ago because that ground gets harder on the skin each year. Now, it's all about just having fun and a fun bike it certainly is whether it's in the mud, rain, or just plugging around the yard.

    I’m torn. TW200 or XT250 ? My nearest Yamaha (or any dealership) is 90 minutes away on icy roads so it may be a while before I sit on one. Seat comfort is a concern, the closer I get to 70 the more my butt wants a little cushioning.

    • @XT250allday
      @XT250allday  3 года назад

      I like to be able to go faster on tarmac than the TW will go. Also like EFI. TWs are a cool around town & trail bike but in my to & from trail travels, I need to hit higher road speeds comfortably.

    Can you put a kickstart on a xt250 2017 and how can you upgrade your xt250 to run faster ?

    • @XT250allday
      @XT250allday  7 лет назад

      The XT 250 is not much about running faster ... it's a street legal mountain goat. But, sure, you can mod it with a big bore kit, a stroker kit and adding a power commander. Check out ProCycle XT 250 page for all those goodies procycle.us/bikepages/xt250.html You'd boost performance pretty well with that combo, but your pocket would be lighter for sure.
      Less spendy would be to add aftermarket exhaust, high flow air filter and a power commander ... but you won't get a ton of extra from that ... and you can tweak your gearing to add more top end or more bottom end torque.
      I've never explored the adding a kickstarter ... but you can see the port where it would go on the engine. The electric start as worked flawlessly for me - but it would be kinda nice to have it if you really needed if you had a dead battery.

    • @Personlpp

    • @geraldscott9446
      @geraldscott9446 6 лет назад

      Unfortunately you cannot put a Kickstarter on an XT250. I have an XT225, and put a kickstarter from an TTR-225 on it. I was also able to put an aftermarket centerstand on it, but they are no longer made. And you can get a 4 gallon plastic Clarke tank for the XT225. If you have the EFI version of the XT250, there isn't much of anything you can do with it. One guy fried the $350+ ECU hooking up a 12v power outlet on the handlebars.

    I have a friend who has this bike, a 2008 model, which is mostly white. It looks new and only has 700 miles on it. He bought new and it is always garaged. He said he would sell for $2500.00. Would this be a good buy price for a bike this clean? I swear it looks "showroom" new. Thanks.

    • @XT250allday
      @XT250allday  6 лет назад

      I have a strong preference for fuel injection and the '08 is carbureted. Fuel injection models started on the XT250 in '13. That being said, 700 miles on an '08 is pretty dang low miles and other than not having fuel injection, I think it's pretty much the same bike as later models.
      But it seems to me you can find low mile XT250s so I would have to look for a low mile '13 to see what that pricing is compared to the '08 before I went with a carbureted bike. Again, just my preference ... the elevation of where I ride has a wide range and the FI handles that great. But there are some people that swear by carbureted bikes ... like the XT225 still has a large, enthusiastic owner community. I'm sure you'd enjoy the '08 if you were to go that route.

      Seems like a good deal to me given the condition. I have a 2009 with around 10,000 miles. It has a carburetor which is a little slow to warm up, but otherwise works great. I have had zero issues with the bike. Just a few oil changes and one new set of tires and a lot of fun.

    • @XT250allday
      @XT250allday  2 года назад

      No. Those were pillow top grips. I tried lock ons and did not like the extra space they take up making my grip area feel cramped. If you didn't run hand guards they'd be OK, but I must run hand guards for the type of riding I do. They've saved me so many times.

    How are the Dunlop 606's on the road?

    • @XT250allday
      @XT250allday  7 лет назад +2

      When I first put them on, at top speeds on the street the Dunlop 606 was wobbly up front compared to the Bridgestone Trail Wing stock tire (which I thought delivered a very sooth ride at top speed). After I rode on the Dunlop 606 for a short time I even started to think I wanted to go with a less knobby front tire. However, as I kept riding on them, it really settled down in the front so now I'm not even considering a less knobby front tire.
      When I have the XT250 going full out down the road, yes, it's not as smooth as is was with the Trail Wing -- but, yeah, I'm not going full blast for any great periods of time. At 60 mph, it's just fine now. As far as cornering, I don't even notice a difference, the Dunlop 606 does great.

    • @ChrisBrown-bw6vq

    • @rorysinger7406

      You'll get a much smoother ride if you balance the 606 tires. I run them on my wr250r and balancing made a world of difference.
