  • Although it might seem like the Yamaha XT250 has been around forever, in its current guise, it has "only" been around since 2008. We say "only" because its direct competitors have been around for quite some time, and one still uses a carburetor. Except for a few new color options and the important addition of fuel injection over a decade ago, the XT250 has remained largely unchanged. At its core, this is a very simple, rugged little motorcycle that will take endless abuse.

I'll buy this bike after getting my license and enough money. Beautiful, lightweight, classic - it's perfect for our terrible city roads.

I bought my XT250 new in 2017. Over 7 years, it's been super reliable and has never stalled or failed to start. I've only had to replace the tires (once), sparkplug (once), battery (once), brake pads (once) and the exhaust header (once). Other than that it only needs routine oil and filter changes. It's a fun bike and can go anywhere. The only thing I wish the XT had is a 6th gear for highway rides. If you get one, buy a more offroad-oriented front and rear tire. The stock Bridgestone's aren't the best for offroading. Mine's got 14,000 kms (8,700 miles). Outstanding fuel efficiency. Overall, I'd rate the bike 85/100.

I like the idea here. The script is a bit generic sounding, but otherwise a good video. I would like to add as an owner, 76mpg is very "approximate" (between 0-55mph) if one regularly rides on the freeway like I do expect a 55-65 mpg based on your cruising speed and route, hills, wind, and whether you cruise close 60mph or 70mph.

@@bradd188 thank you. Yes. I am aware that precipice of grind is a guy. I thought you were referring to the young lady riding the xt250 in precipice of grind's video. She posted her own yt video with that footage of herself riding and evaluating the bike. Precipice of grind then used segments of her video on his channel.

I’ve been trying to find this bike at a dealer locally for a while now without any luck. Are they hard to find in other states?

They are hard to find, new and used. I'd suggest going to a Yamaha dealer and ordering one.
