It's been about a year since I first discovered your channel! I started watching after my baby was born, while I was sitting on the couch feeding him and holding him while he napped. Now he's a little over a year and I run around after him 😂 Hooray for a wonderful season of gardening, growth, and harvest! As always, your enthusiasm and can-do attitude put a smile on my face.

Next time you go to the store grab a bar of fels naptha. Use it to shower after working outside and it will remove all oils from poison ivy and oak. It’s cheap and works. Gardeners and have been using it for a very long time

I have followed your channel since you started and I absolutely LOVE your garden clean up content! This year I finally have my own garden! Me and my husband have been cleaning up leaves and burning yard waste every weekend this spring. We live in Sweden and right now the lilacs, apple blossoms and lily of the valley are blooming in our garden ❤️

Hi Jodi! What about moving your hostas that are out in the wooded area that the deer are eating to a bed closer to your house? They are easy to move, it’s not too late yet and could be a free ooomph up to your beds closer to the house plus deer would probably not come that close to your house. Then maybe put some of your shade tolerant annuals around the hostas and your beds would instantly look fuller. Loving all your plant growing content and watching your yard coming together!😊

    • @jodidunnmymessylife1847
      @jodidunnmymessylife1847  Месяц назад

Yes the deer don’t bother the ones by my house or garage so that’s a great idea. Of course I’m nervous to do that since I’ve never dug up a plant outdoors 😂

for the flower bed by the back porch - i think those like ground covering plants - like clovers or creeping thyme, just look up ground cover plants. would look fantastic! it would help with weeds, it would cover the dirt, and its also fine if clark steps on it! and its usually low maintenance and does well in droughts

I love the half whiskey barrel look. I have a number of them that resemble wood. Four sit over the septic tank area so that they can be planted and moved if need be...The small ones on my deck have geraniums in them, as well as sweet potato vine and a blue flowered plant. I put flags in those. Enjoy yours!

I am from the south. Our sausage balls (at least around where I live) are made with Neeses Sausage, bisquick, and shredded sharp or medium cheddar. Mix make into balls and bake. OMG! Delicious! You can added onions etc and it's a very flexible basic recipe but, good just as is or add what you like. It's also great for kids breakfast on the go!

It’s a very pretty weed. We have to tie our long sticks together, the trash guys will take them in Denver. Don’t you love the trash men.👏 Someone probably planted the babies breath as a ground cover. I like sunflowers, I didn’t plant any last year but some came back anyway. They can get huge but my neighbor has small, multiple flowers ones, very pretty. My yard is getting horrible since I haven’t been out there because of my knee, surgery is June 10. But watch out summer of 2025 unless I get the other knee done.😳 You did great in the yard. Love your obsession with plants. The food looks great! My mom always called it beating the system to do things beforehand. Thank you for this video Jodi!😘

Oh Jodi, you're doing wonderfully well with your plants inside & outside. I hope you can get all your plants planted! It'll be fun watching you clean up & design your backyard. Clarke is so cute & fun watching him have so much energy! We have a plant like your new one. It has the slipt leaves. It's a little sick. My husband took it outside & watered real good & kind of clean it out. We've had it for 24yrs. It was a housewarming gift when we moved into our house. It was a very nice gift! But it's had its ups & downs through the years. So I hope it comes out of it. My husband put some new potting soil in the plant, so we'll see what happens! I might have to try your recipes! Thanks for sharing! ♥️☺️🫂🦉🐾🌹🍄🦋🌺✨️

Hi Jodi…looking forward to seeing the backyard transformation. You worked so hard last year…you deserve to have your pretty backyard! To keep deer and rabbits from eating your hosta plants, they sell a deer and rabbit repellent spray. I spray in the spring, and the deer don’t touch them anymore.

I'm so excited to see how your yard turns out! I would plant some perennials in both front and back porch beds. Here's some full sun ideas: coneflowers, peonies, yarrow, cat mint, Verbena, Veronica. I'm not sure if all of these would work in your zone, but they're my favorite perenneals so I thought I'd share! You can also plant perennials in the fall!

I'm currently going down the rabbit hole on deer resistant slow growing flowering perennials. I can't go through the effort of planting annuals. The yard clean up is difficult enough for me.
Have you considered sucking up the leaves instead of blowing them? Then you could also use them as your mulch. Maybe Clark would leave that alone.

My 12 year old son and I started our garden a couple of weeks ago. We went to Walmart to pick out the flowers that we wanted to plant. We kept going back to the petunias but instead of saying petunia, he kept calling them placentas.😂😂 He was so embarrassed when I told him what a placenta was.
We planted Sunflowers too. I was reading about them and learned that they stunt the growth of other plants near them.

Instead of pulling out your weeds do the lasagna method. Lay down plain cardboard then get it wet this is your weed barrier. Then lay down your top soil/compost. Lastly add in your mulch on top. You don’t have to add the mulch it helps keep the soil moist though.

I love to watch open packages of live plants. There sites where you can get subscriptions of plants. Plus they point toward plants pet friendly.
Your yard is looking great. Places where you had leaves for years the soil should be really good.
Woman the yellow jackets on a branch close to the ground. I had that issue once oh it was the terrible stings. My feeling if they would have flown by me when I was getting too close. I would went oh I will get out of the way. I would let them be. No the got me so I has to get rid of them.
Again I am walk the yard. Today I got home I walked half front had my brush killing spray. Dang hackberries.
Sometime when I am working in the yard I say 2 leaf bags. I listen to podcasts or music.
Always have a battle line. I worked on the dang speargrass. I made an invisible line. Everything on this side is weeded other side I working on. So I slowly make it across the yard. However I checked the area weeded for new weeds. Right now I can walk out show you where the line is. Plus feel good about where the speargrass is removed. Yes yes yes there hierarchy of weeds. There are code red ones dandelions, sticky weed, Johnson grass and Dallas grass. Me and sticky weed oh it spreads so easily, fast grower. I am out there with grocery bag putting it the trash. If I think it poison ivy I will get a grocery bag. Dang birds poo poison ivy seeds in the yard. Get it when it small.
    Gamble gamble gamble.
You are doing great one bag of leaves at a time. Like me today fighting with hackberries and honeysuckle. If the honeysuckle was not right up by the exterior walls I would let it grow. Nope I am keep grasses and plants away. No termites.
One more tip. Fire ants. First moved into house fire ants everywhere. Treated each pile. Then made property line war zone. I put treatment end of property line therefore neighbors fire ants would not move in.
All this takes time. The battle lines help me I know where I been and it looks good. I know where I am going. I will get there.
Never will be garden magazine yard. Nope. I like keep the neighbors wondering what is she doing. Look she removing leaves out street gutter. She came home nope she not getting them leaves up. 😊

There's no big hurry to get them planted out. They still have plenty of room to grow and have their Roots growing. Just think about the size of the plants that you buy at the nursery. You're fine and don't need to rush.

Oh Jodi I'm feeling your poison ivy pain!! I've been pulling it off my fence for 20 years with no reaction to it at all, ever. UNTIL... now, I am having a terrible reaction, it's been 2 weeks today since I touch it and I'm still covered with rashes and still so dang itchy it's driving me crazy! So sorry you also just went through this as it's no joke for sure. In case you don't know if Clarkie walks through it, gets the oil on him and you pet him you will get it. He will not get it but he can carry it. BTW Clarkies hair cut is adorable! I just ordered the Grandpa tool but haven't gotten to use it, stuck inside due to the poison ivy, but can't wait to try it out. Please share if you find anything that kills your poison ivy please. Hope you have a great day! 😊

Oh no Janetta! I tried every home remedy and finally had to go to the doctor. Mine took a good month to clear up with the steroids. I sure hope you feel better soon 🙏🙏
Poison ivy is so hard to get rid of!! I hired a company last year so I know it’s way better but I’m sure it’s still lurking in the yard

@jodidunnmymessylife1847 Oh wow, Jodi, that's a long time. But I think I'm going to be that long as well. It's been two weeks, and I'm still breaking out, much less but still having new blisters daily. Both arms, one leg and upper chest, covered in blisters at a couple of stages of healing. The itch, oh my the itch is like no other, isn't it? I'm so sorry you went through this as well. You're so brave to be reaching in places you can't see everything, I'm not sure my bravery to do that will return, lol.
I'll be talking to the company we use to spray our yard for bugs and see if they can help to get it gone. Poison ivy is truly the devil, lol. I'm so glad you're doing better, and you're back outside. I'm so ready to be doing the same. Jodi, thanks for your videos. It's always a joy to watch them. Take care!

Hi Jodi 👋 my carpet removal has begun. As I must sit on a folding chair to do stuff, it's a long term project. 😂 So far just a 2'x3' + a 2'x2' section so far.
More plants. Yay! Good for your air. Especially inside. 😅
Do you have a fire pit in the back yard? That would take care of those branches too large for the bags...
Many invasive weeds are still being sold as flowers. In some parts of the country they are killing the naive wildflowers.
    Hostas. Yes. I remember.
Wild trillium are a rare native!!!
It's more likely hubby has been stashing branches there like the boxes & trash in the shed. 😆
Edit... Seedlings looking great. Mother's day was celebrated the day before after Shabbat celebration.... Really nice there. None of my kids attended but that's ok. It was a good day anyway.
If you'd like to see what I did for mother's day, let me know and I'll email you a few fotos. 😂
Both of those "breakfast casseroles look good but can't have them. Sadly. I've started a dairy break. Lol.
    Your bearded iris's look amazing!!!
I'm glad you got to enjoy your mother's day!

@@cori7209 my son was working. And yes. I worked on removing carpet that makes me ill from in front of the air exchange. Found old hardwood underneath. Removed the mold and dirt buildup from the previous renters and found out there had been 2 leaked...in the linen closet opposite and the attic access above... Mineral deposits from our hard water showed the path and pooling areas. Looks much better now. I'm breathing better, too.
People don't realize how much carpets trap dirt and mold. Those mold spores getting sucked into air intake means it comes from every vent In the house.
I guess to you that doesn't seem like doing something for myself? But my asthma definitely is much better. So it is. 😆
I refuse to spend my time moaning about other's actions. I can still get something done. That makes it truly a blessing having the time to myself.
      Thank you for caring.

I’ve tried all the tried and true…sługgo, coffee grounds, egg shells, foil, and beer. Nothing helps. My last ditch effort is diatomaceous earth.
