A quick tip-moles/voles love hosta roots (and others) so if you notice things aren’t thriving or your hostas are shrinking, plant in dollar tree wire waste baskets (bury the basket) so that way they can’t reach the roots. 👍

I am in middle Georgia. Our humidity finally dropped enough with a slight breeze at 70% and temps finally around 90 with a few clouds. I had to spend the time finally brushing my 2 german shepherds. It is so hot here. I don't ever want to be outside. Your video did help me imagine how great my yard would look if I went out. I did finally water my mosquito herbs and plants the other evening since we haven't had a lot of rain. Your bed looks so pretty. You need a decorative bird bath or statue. Maybe in an area over that big root running through.

Hi Jodi, been following you since the beginning, but have never posted a comment before. I am a proud plant mom myself, and have had spider plants for years now. They are very easy to maintain. Just water them once a week, and don't put them in direct sunlight. My first ones had babies themselves, which I gave to friends and colleagues. I also have a pothos, and a hanging plant called a "wandering Jew/dude" (Latin name: Tradescantia zebrina, which is gorgeous and also easy, look it up), and much much more. The older I get, the more I enjoy seeing my plant babies grow bigger. Greetings from the Netherlands!

your soil is clay heavy. You can amend it with sand and peat. 2 clay 1 peat 1 sand is good for better drainage. A Spading Fork is how you mix it in without a rototiller. Get a pole saw and you can trim some lower branches on your trees to allow light onto your hydrangeas.

    • @jodidunnmymessylife1847
      @jodidunnmymessylife1847  3 месяца назад

Honestly that sounds like so much work 😂

Wow! Great progress….heat is no joke!
In Kentucky, we call that soil movement “erosion”! 🤣🤣🤣 Totally teasing!!!!
I noticed you didn’t have a downspout extender….that may mess your mulch up! Don’t let your hard work go to ruin!!!
    Do y’all get a lot of rain? Maybe it’s a nonissue! 🤷🏻‍♀️

That looks awesome Jodi! I was holding my breath and saying “oh no the poison ivy patch!” I remember from last year! I thought of you last week. The neighbor finally cut down the tree that broke off and hit our two houses in a storm recently. Our houses are right on top of each other. Well I tackled the small 4 ft area where nothing grew because of the darn tree (except weeds). I’m always uber cautious about poison ivy. Well there were no visible leaves at least. I raked out various weeds and roots. Scraped the inside of my left arm. Did the usual shower and put antiseptic on the scrape. Yup you guessed it! Poison ivy all over inside of my arm and then because if how I sleep got it all over my left side stomach/torso. Haven’t had it for decades. Sooooo miserable. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫. Oh my the mole was hilarious especially under the plastic. I was waiting for you to wallop it with the shovel! 🤣 (I wouldn’t be able to either, but know what a nuisance they are in the yard and garden!) Love that fencing. I’ll look into that. Take care and happy gardening! 🌷🌹🌸

Try watering your spider plants with distilled water. Plants don't like minerals and when they 'drink' them, the minerals get to the end of the leaf and get stuck. But they cause the cells to explode and the tip dies. Eventually, there won't be enough leaf left to trim if you keep cutting them down. May I suggest watching "Sheffield Made Plants" on YT? Rich lives in Sheffield England and he's very knowledgeable about house plants. And funny too. He'll tell you all about spider plants and many others. I would put the tall plant on the side. You might want to invest in a light meter to ensure they get enough light. I have a combo light/PH/water meter. Staying inside, doing my cross stitch and planning a fall garden. I heard the birds. Thank you. Hello to Mickey Mole. 🐭

It’s exhausting, but it’s turning out to be quite beautiful. This should be my last transformation year and then I will just maintain it. I am just putting it back together so it should need very little maintenance.

Jodi, it looks so good! Have you considered Heuchera (Coral Bells)? They are like Hosta to me. Shady, leafy but flowering perennials that you periodically split.
My favorites are the Dolce Silver Gumdrop and Dressed Up Evening Gown.
I'm currently down the rabbit hole on DIY garden art since I got everything planted and am in maintenance mode until fall when clean up starts again.
Last week I finally got my oak tree stump pile split for firewood and the rest of it removed (after 3 years of it being down, almost to the week.)
Felt good to be done with yard projects for the season. So, of course a section of my fence fell over. Sigh. It's ONLY 38 years old. Ha! So, I took it apart, and now I have to call Miss Utility because I am temporarily putting up rolled bamboo over this section, and I KNOW the power to the garage is buried, just not sure exactly where.

I bought a HUGE spider plant in 2019 and had babies from that plant until 2023 when my last baby from it died. I haven't been able to find any in stores either. It's very frustrating. OMG! My daughter got blood drawn for an allergy test and she blurted out "That's preppy!". It was so blasted funny! She said after she didn't know why she said it and that it just came out. Me, the nurse and the other nurse that came to help were all cracking up! The space turned out amazing! I want to do all that kind of work but I have made myself not do it in the rental we are in and wait until we can buy a house. I do the minimum to help my plants grow and make it look decent but that's it for me for now. I can't wait to buy a house and really be able to do everything I've always wanted to do!

Hiya, just found your channel as it popped up on my home feed. The small mammal looked like a VOLE not a mole. It was probably confused when you removed all the weeds, and may have a little home under your walkway. They do not usually come into houses, and are vegetarians, mainly eating grass. So not an animal to worry about. Garden looked colourful after you had finished. Well done.

My question to you is, why are you adding annuals instead of perennials because they will not survive your winter, your hosta will, but the other ones won’t.

I’m slowly adding perennials but I’ll always add annuals. Can’t beat the variety’s, colors and performance of annuals.

You know, I have been wanting to start my own vlogging channel I even went as far as starting to record stuff, then I thought to myself who is going to want to watch me cook and clean and water my garden and talk about the small things I am doing around my home....then I remember I have been watching you clean your back yard for a year now lol 😆😆😆
