Jodi!! You have changed our lives!! We’ve lived in our home for 7+ years and haven’t touched the leaves, sticks, etc since we’ve lived here. Taking your advice and cherishing our home we are so lucky to have! Last week we tackled most of the brush and debris on a half acre of land. And then I broke out the power washer this week! My husband was yelling “HELLO HELLO HELLO!!” Because he knows I call you my “RUclips mom” ❤ thank you for all that you do and for gracing us with the power of gratitude and the magic of couponing!!

Trout lily is a ground cover. That’s why it’s growing everywhere. Yes, clean up the leaves and clear last year’s growth from the hostas & hydrangeas. If it fits, maybe try the bench in the hallway by your staircase, where the green cabinet is now. Have a great week!

For any new people wonder why she called Clark Clark and then said the rope toy was Gus's, Gus was her Great Dane. She was a beautiful, precious baby who passed of old age last year, before lil Clark came into the pic. There are videos with lil Gus too way back. :) (I've been here for a hot minute, lol)

Hi! Bird feeders should be cleaned every two to four weeks with a minimum of hot soapy water and a good scrub. Using half water and half white distilled vinegar and letting them soak for 15 to 30 minutes is a good way to disinfect them. Birds can spread disease among each other quite easily. It's best to stick with feeders made of metal and/or glass. Easier to clean that way. ☺️

A flat cushion on the bench would be good for a bit of color and then the pillows won't slide around.

I would rake up those sticks then pick up the pile. My kids finally came and cleaned my yard; mowed, picked up dog poo and cleaned my patio, including my granddaughter’s playhouse and all its contents. My spring flowers are coming up well, tulips in front doing better than ever. I take her out in back everyday that is nice. I had to dig out a shredded umbrella that I had in a barrel planter, it was old and the wind in Denver two weeks ago was destructive. The fabric is off but the metal skeleton is in great shape but I will put it in the alley for the metal man. My granddaughter and I cleaned out a tire planter that belonged to my mom and I took the marigolds seeds from it and she would toss them in the planter. It was fun. Of course I did this sitting on my little garden bench that I got to walking with my two canes. I’m hoping after knee replacement I will be able to walk unassisted. I am exercising and losing weight really well, two months until surgery. Your daffodils look grand, love the yellow popping all over. As for the bench I would do a little bench pillow which you could switch out when you are hosting to put side dishes there or seasonal decor. I don’t know much about plants but wonder if you get enough sun there, yes do not cover up vents. Thank you Jodi, love your enthusiasm for your birds, it makes you so happy.😃😘

Yes, one is supposed to clean bird feeders. There’s an online article from Cornel Lab, All About Birds you could read. 🤗 ETA: to attract orioles and other nectar loving birds buy a feeder designed for apples, oranges, etc. You cut the fruit in half and push it onto something similar to skewers so it stays in place. Look them up, there will be tons of designs. ETA ( again!): chickadees are my fav bird! 🤗 Btw, buy some peanuts in the shell for the squirrels but idk how much mess that would make.

You probably know about the Merlin Bird app already, but I am new to it. I was out on a walk and someone had their phone out and showed me how many birds we were listening to right there and what they were. It does a recording and then as it’s recording, the sounds of the birds pictures of them are popping up.
It was pretty incredible, I stopped my car to eat some lunch and just put rolled down the window and tried doing a recording and they were six species of birds singing. It is wicked cool!

Hi Jodi. Your yard is like mine- lots of trees, leaves and sticks galore. 😅 Your tray on your feeder is for birds that are ground feeders. They eat off the ground or flat surfaces only. Female cardinals being one of them. (I think that was the bird you saw by your front rocks) Your hooks are for oranges. Cardinals, orioles and many song birds enjoy oranges or grape jelly hung there in a special bird jelly feeder. Your bench is actually a coffee table from the early 70’s! I’m not sure it’s thick enough or sturdy enough to be a bench. Love all your flowers and your enthusiasm. I cleaned off my patio yesterday but storms today (darn lol). Lots to be done. Don’t forget to take a few hyacinths inside to enjoy by your sink to smell. Does Clark have invisible fence? He’s so good and stays right by you! Love your channel.
PS: Maybe your indoor yellow leaves tulips are getting too much sun? Shallow containers dry out too fast. I bet your deeper one will do better.
    Have a fun day!!

I haven't heard of that lily so can't speak to it 1 way or the other, but it might just be something that disappears into the yard after it does its thing. I planted violets and over the years they naturalized, so in the spring I have little purple flowers dotted around the yard.

Please clean out bird feeders each year. The birds will appreciate a healthy eating spot. I love that you have added a squirrel feeder. They are not fat, but fluffy until they lose their winter coats. Also femals are bigger than males, especially as they are pregnant and then will be nursing moms. They will be extra hungry. 😊
I also talk to the wildlife. Always saying hello and asking what they would like to eat. 😁
The little bench/coffee table looks cute in the dining room. Maybe add a cushion to make it cosy. Also, would you consider placing in front of the living room window? Also a good spot for plants. 😊

Hi Jodi 👋 see you are glad to be outside cleaning again!!! 😁
Edit: yes. The hostas can be cut back once they turn dead like that. Gives the roots more to put into the new growth!!!
Isn't it fun to find new growth in the spring!😊
Trout lily...not a weed. It's an early pollinators food. As you saw the bees like that!
Edit: tulips need deeper dirt. And in pots need extra bulb food. Watering...stick finger down past first knuckle. If dry, water. If too wet, don't.yes, they're cranes.
Bench...try as a toy garage for the grandkids toys in that front room with the computer. Table top toys on top & rolling ones under it???
First mow today. Grass was above my knees with full seed heads on top. 83-86*f yesterday here. Ugh. But grass is growing and so are other growing things.

Hi, Jodi! Yes, cut off the dead branches on your hostas. Also around your hydrangeas. I love hydrangeas! I had a beautiful one and we had cement work done and I wanted to save it and move. When I got home from work, the hydrangeas had been trashed! I was so mad! The best place to put hydrangeas is where they can get partial shade. They love that! And you should trim them back after blooming season. The more you trim them, they should come back fuller blooms. Good luck! Hugs to all! 🥰👍💜🌷🌷🌷 I think those birds were herons. Hi, Donna Jean!🖐️🖐️💜

I also enjoy feeding the birds year-round. I live in Northeast Indiana and it's time to get my hummingbird feeders out as well. I don't have the patience to wait for my nectar to cool. So I use 1/4 cup sugar and 1/2 cup warm tap water. You don't have to bring it to a boil the water just has to be hot enough to dissolve the sugar completely. I let the Tiny Bubbles start to form in the bottom of the pan and then I turn it off and stir until everything is dissolved. Then I have my other half cup of water is mostly ice cubes add refrigerator water that I mix into the hot mixture. By the time the Ice Cube's melt what's the temperature is perfect to go into my feeder. I get lots of cardinal pairs at my feeder and I don't think it has anything to do with the feed I put in it but more to do with all of the evergreen trees around where I live.

I’d love to be outside! The weather is crazy! I can’t even get inside cleaning done because the tornado sirens have gone off 4 times this morning! I guess this means I’m supposed to chill and enjoy your video!!

It's a lovely bench but I feel like there is already a lot of hard furniture. I feel like a lovely wingback chair in that corner would add a bit of softness.

Yes, you clean bird feeders. They can get diseases from them so it's good to clean them every so often when they get looking gross.you could probably take your pressure washer to them on the lowest PSI

If you put a few small rocks in the bird bath then the hummers would be able to use it as well. The water is to deep for them otherwise.

Beautiful vintage piece! It matches the other furniture in the room, at least on the video it shows that to me. I think you'll be happy using it either way at the end of a bed as a bench, I don't remember what your bed look like from previous videos, or extra seating for your table. But just the fact that you like the piece and want to use it in your home is a good thing. I'm sure you could find or make your own cushion. Have you tried it at the table for height/measurement yet? That would be good to know for gathering your cushion materials. I'm excited to see what you come up with.

Your excitement about your plants is infectious! Definitely wash feeders a few times a year! The cardinals and orielles would love some oranges cut in half. Be careful your suet doesnt go bad in warm weather! We only feed suet in the winter when the birds need the fat in their diet. The birds prefer the cover of nearby trees for feeding. Blue jays are such bullies when they are around.

Hi Jodi! Love the bird feeders. I've been trying to decide what type of feeder I want to get. I've spent the past week outside too pulling weeds and dead leaves and power washing my patio and front walk. A lot of work but so satisfying. Have a great week.

So so pretty! The orioles love oranges. We had a post that dad put a flat maybe 8”x8” square piece of wood on top. He nailed some long nails up from the bottom before he attached to the post. Roll oranges to get juicy, cut in half, then spear them over one of the nails. The orioles sit on edge and drink the juice from the orange cup.

I like where the bench is. It probably will become a catch all. Also, look up butterfly baths for the new bird feeder. . A little sand, for bathing, a small dish of water and a sliced piece of orange or fruit. 😌
