Awesome video. Thanks for the post. I was able to replace my burnt out instrument cluster lights after watching this. Super easy.
Thank you for this. Guys like you take the mystery out of stuff like this for old guys like me. I'm good enough with tools but electronics are mildly horrifying. So for all the old guys who are afraid to take electronics apart because we might break them, thanks and keep 'em coming!
Thank you Sir for sharing you knowledge on how to pull the dash out was a lot of help for a non mechanic like me I appreciate that .
Removing the instrument cluster was easy, thanks to this excellent video!
I'm glad it was helpful!
Great video. Simple and to the point. No silly music.
Excellent, Thank you. This was very helpfull.
Thank you Sir for taking the time to make that video.
Very welcome
Thanks for the helpful video!
Great job with this video! Very easy to follow.
Thank you! I hope it was helpful
Just what I needed to know. Thanks.
My results varied.
No, the headlight switch assembly does NOT always come out first. I BROKE the front bezel on the switch on my 2000 using the methods shown here. On mine, the dash cover comes off FIRST, THEN you can remove the wire plugs on the headlight switch. In fact, the switch assembly can remain in the dash cover unless you're servicing it. To remove the switch (at least on mine) there is a locking tab not accessible from the front that must be released before the assembly will come out of the dash cover.
Cheers.
Right on thank you Bro! I didnt wanna mess it up.
Glad to help! Leave a like if you can, it really helps!
Very good video. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful
Would you possibly have a picture of the back of the cluster? I replaced my bulbs and stupidly pulled all the light sockets out at once so I do not know which ones go where since there are two different types.
Great video. Viewing now as I have to replace a recently installed DIN2 Stereo w/ back up camera screen that has gone South. One question which was something you did not mention. Did you disconnect the battery so there was no power at these plugs before disconnecting them. Safety first, no? Thank you.
Trey, I have a 2003 Super Duty 6.8 V10. While on a long road trip, the 4R100 transmission gear indicator broke under the dash where the cable adjuster bracket is attached under the steering column. The bracket snapped off (heat rot??) so I bought a new indicator ass'y from Ford (3C3Z-7A110-BA) that comes complete with the PRND2L plate, cable, and adjustor. I cannot find any instructions and how to get to that part and replace it. Would following this video be the best way to get to it? I think, or I hope, from there I can follow my nose and complete the rest of the steps. I'll apprecaite any help you can offer.
The headlight switch does not come out on an E99. Just leave it in place and disconnect the wires on the back.
My 99.5 only comes out if you break the face off it.... 🙁 It has locking tabs
Do NOT attempt to remove your factory headlight switch/plate by this method; you will break it, like I did! The switch in the video is an aftermarket assembly that pops in and out. The Ford/Motorcraft OEM switch has a beveled button on the door-side of the switch that looks like a small door-striker (visible in this image: images.oreillyauto.com/parts/img/large/bwd/hl140_primary.jpg). Once you remove the side dash cover, pull the dark gray plastic dash forward about .5"-1". This will allow you to insert a screw driver to depress the beveled release button on the side of the headlight switch, which will release the locking tabs on the top and bottom of the assembly so it can be pulled out while the release button is being depressed. That's when you may use a screw driver as demonstrated to pop the switch out, while holding the release button on the side of the switch assembly.
Here's another video that demonstrates a trick to removing the switch with the locking tab/button: ruclips.net/video/69ylqeN3Wl4/видео.html Hope this helps someone avoid destroying their OEM switch.
@@garthrodericks2692 thank you. That was good to know before attempting to remove the light switch.
Wish i found this 30 seconds earlier 😭
How do you remove the section directly to the right of the fuse compartment? Do I need to remove the dash first?
I need help putting dash back together after replacing heater core 99 f150
This was very helpful. I have a late 99 7.3 and it has this hideous blue interior/dash. Im replacing all the trim with another color but I also want to remove/replace my dash. Is there anything specific I need to do? I know the 08+ dashes won't work but just in what I need to do. Thanks.
+Trey Spooner Ill hang on to it. But Im not a big fan of it. Im gunna sell it all as a package. Im buying all new trim also.
How about the lower Dash where the cup holder and stash hole are at?
I have an 02 F250 and taking mine out because it has to be repaired
Can I still drive truck while it’s being repaired.
Thanks
Need to alter video. On my 99 the headlight switch does not come out like that. If you pry on it you will break it. There are releases on the back side.
Do u know if theres a green film in the cluster because i wanna go to blue led but cant find any video to help me plse help!!!
Wonder if anyone knows how to repair.the dash that was pulled off by thieves when they took my radio.....its wont fit to both sides at the same time...I’ll have to have one side or the other not snapped in.....thanks in advance/.....
Do the plug connecters only fit in 1 connection? In other words, can they be plugged into the wrong plug?
How do you remove the aftermarket radio?
I never found the video he was talking about
I have a 2002 ford f-250 super duty 97000 miles panel cluster quit working all fuses good radio works power windows work no power from alt to bat. alt n battery good what is wrong?
bob Graves my truck will not run but 35 40 miles an hour
Do you know if you can just buy the airbag shut off switch and add it yourself? mine didn't come with one and the connector for it is there.
I've never looked into it, but typically all of the wiring is in place for stuff like that and can be easily added
Need to change the airbag warning light?
I had to remove mine because the airbag warning light burned out, and the computer will keep beeping until you replace the bulb in the cluster, curious if that was why you removed it.
you didn't show enough detail on removing the cluster wiring.`
What color is the dash, i need to color match mine and that’s the same color
Grey
ON WHAT VEHICLE??
It says it in the title. 99-04 super duty
@@TruckStuff1 who makes super duty? Chevy?
@1:10 the wires on this are'nt very long. Not to make any mean jokes, but compared to a german car you are spoiled for lenght🤣
You're not wrong!
putting it back on is so annoying lol
He speaks too fast and slurred his words. Video is not very clear. Actually, not a good video.
Sorry about that.
