Hi! I just saw your beautiful journals. Hubby was enthralled and I had to pause your video so he could read the book as you were flipping through. Now I’m on my search for some of these little golden books, especially Santa’s Surprise Book-Or the book that had the little mice. I’m going to make him his very own junk journal. Mind you, he’s 67 years old and he has all the whimsy of a youngster. Thank you so much for sharing your art. Blessings.
What an xamazing video Amber! I can’t thank you enough! What an awesome gift for my family for me to take the golden books of my special needs son who passed away two years ago and give them something to cherish for the rest of their lives. You are totally AWESOME!!! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!❤️❤️❤️
These are so fun! I like your simple approach to these. Not everyone likes those 'junkier' messier types. I like how you kept the book and story intact. I really enjoy your videos and ideas. Thank you for sharing your talent.
I agree 100%! I‘m not a fan of the lace and ribbons you typically see in junk journals, so this cleaner look is perfect. They seem a lot more practical for everyday journaling.
Agreed. I have watched lots of videos but the bulky messy ones are not my type. I like the clean looking ones. Not stuff hanging out all over. Lol. I just wish the gold part can be kept. I don’t see a video of anyone keeping the gold binding in it which is a huge part of the book.
This brings me to tears, my childhood memories, I just started paper crafting ,maybe one day I could make one, I appreciate your kindness to share with me...have a Beautiful Evening!!
Love this idea...so cute. I have lots of LGB from when my daughter was growing up. All her kids had there turn with them also. Maybe I could do one book for each grandchild...to match their personalities. TFS
Oh, my goodness! When I saw Santa sampling Mrs. Claus’ cooking I had to stop the video temporarily just to comment. A favorite Christmas family recipe would be the perfect companion page.
You truly stayed in the vintage and nostalgic theme. They bring back so many memories. The stories were always sweet and gentle. Putting the extras in is the icing on the cake
This tutorial was so thoughtful! You covered every aspect of making these journals. I've seen lots of other videos on the subject, but they look so much more complicated than yours. I have a print shop less than a mile from my home that we've hired to do signs for the craft fair that we coordinate. I will definitely be asking them to drill my books. Here's a tip for you: Many libraries have used book sales, especially in the spring and summer. I went to ours in July specifically looking for LGB. I found a ton of them, everything from Christmas to Easter to Disney, etc. I came home with 65! Those, along with several novels set me back $30! Now that's a bargain. Looking forward to watching more of your tutorials. Thanks from Gettysburg, PA
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Made everything so easy. And your tip about taking the journals to the local print shop to be drilled was GENIUS! I just dropped off 26 books and held my breath when the clerk was calculating the cost. WAIT FOR IT...$8.00 for 26 books! I couldn't believe my ears! So thank you for that invaluable tip!
Looks like you could sell all of these to people who watched this video. I agree with comments to have a sample as non-crafty people won't understand how to use these.
Thank you so much for sharing, not only your awesome talents with us, but also this flip-through of a book I hadn't seen in about 50 years. When I saw the page with the stockings, happy memories flooded my mind. :)
What a cute idea. I have so many pages ready for regular junk journals. I need to look for some little children's books. I love October afternoon! I need to spend some money for paper, stickers etc because while on a substitute teacher assignment I let the fifth graders make a junk journal...they wiped me out! Such fun!
I've always loved LGBs! I've never wanted to make anything called a junk journal until now. I agree with others, this is far too special to put it in the same category as junk journals. Thank you for making this video and all your other videos. I sell at craft fairs but sometimes want to make something just for me - this is one of those items. I don't think you realize how much you awaken the creative spirit in people, especially for someone like me who doesn't think she's especially creative at things like this but wants to dip her toes in it. Your tips and links are so helpful. And your pricing is exactly what people want - thank you for that (I don't bother watching craft fair tutorial videos that don't include pricing). Your videos may give us the push to do it. I AM good at buying crafts supplies. Thank you for helping me to realize I can actually make something special just for me ... one day! You are an incredible lady!
Nice idea. Have you thought about doing a religious one of these for Christmas? "Away in the Manger", "Little Drummer Boy", something like that? I would love to see what you put together!
Love this idea because I have always loved Little Golden Books. No, I will not part with my vintage collection, but we have a huge scholarship funding used book sale in town twice a year and I should be able to get LGBs very reasonably. Going to make one to start. TFS
I love these!! I am going to go through all of my golden books when I get home!! It was really like a jump back in time because i am old enough that I think I had most of these books when I was kid!!
OMG, these are so precious, I just love this idea. 💖 What a special gift for a child or now adult . I have all of the books I read my now adult children. This would be an amazing gift. And a lot of them are Little Golden Books. 😊💖
Adorable. Your should complete 1 journal (with pictures and journaling) as a sample journal that people can see how to use it... I find people who dont craft often dont understand how to use journals or mini albums... You did an amazing job
@@lyriclovercrafts I love these Soooo much! 😍 Golden Books and October Afternoon are on my favorite things list! I'd love to buy 5 and pay for shipping. Please!

I just found your channel and this particular video in the past few weeks. I absolutely adore this series! And like many of your sub's I agree that you are a wonderful teacher! I wanted to make one of these as a Christmas gift but it was just a little too close to Christmas to do it in all the hustle and bustle. Now I get to work on it without the stress! Lol! I have never ever gotten into scrap booking but you are an inspiration to say the least. Please know that God has really used you to get the creative part of me moving again and only He knows how much I need that right now! My mother just passed away in September and we all know how much this type of therapy is needed just in the ordinary times. So thank you! God bless you! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Every year I make handmade gifts for 6 of my friends, it's a tradition they've come to love (and expect, lol). It's hard to find the perfect gift that will suit 6 different types of people, but thanks to you and this awesome idea, I've just found their gift for this year!!! Can't wait to get started ♥
Love these! I make junk journals myself. These are so much different than the ones I make and also most I have seen. Even compared to the junk journals I have seen made with the same books. I love that you make every idea(even if not originally your idea) your own original way. Thank you for sharing all of your beautiful ideas and work with us.
Ok so I had to add this! I appreciate so much you used a family business. No I don’t have a family business but know quite a few business people and competing with the large business community is not fun. Even if it’s a little bit more pricey they will make sure they are done with love ❤️I do love October afternoon I think I have or had all of their collections.
Amber!!! Bless you for making this video! I love the idea of junk journals and have attempted them, but got very overwhelmed by them. As with all of your videos, I appreciate your instructions and how thorough you are!❤️❤️❤️
Hey Amber, thank you for another greatly anticipated tutorial. Suggestion- does your husband have a drill press in the garage or one of his friends have one? Maybe test one out for those holes. Oh these are just adorable, ideal as a December Daily or just a journal depending on the subject of book, we don't have Golden Books in the UK but similar like Ladybird books or Janet & John, I'll be stalking the charity shops for hard backed children's books now... thank you for sharing.....
Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! I’ve picked up so many little golden books and then other books to match with them to make junk journals/albums like this for myself and to sell at markets. I’m going to attempt something I haven’t seen anyone else do; I’m going to keep the gold branding strip on the edges. I think I can do it. But you’ve made this process so simple and it makes so much sense🤍🤍🤍
Feel better, Amber! You won't believe this but I have been collecting the exact same books for Christmas with the exact same plans. Maybe this is the kick in the pants I need! Happy crafting! I use my cinch to make holes.
Thank you so much for this. I love LGBs so much but I couldn't stand destroying them. This preserves the artwork and story AND makes it new and useful. Thank you so much
I think they worth more than $15! You spent so much time and thought in this. This is a great idea! I am thinking to make a unicorn one! Thanks for the video!
I LOVE this idea for doing my December Daily. Thank you for all of your Craft Fair tutorials, I have made so many fun things for my co-workers, friends and family. I have also watched tutorials from years passed and found so much inspiration.
Just an FYI, Michaels has a Craft Smart paper pad called Holiday Ballet that has great papers to go with The Nutcracker. I thought I was ready to assemble my Nutcracker journal but found the paper pad yesterday and will be revising a bit.
Your books are adorable. i have lots of those October Afternoon papers. Authentique makes vintage looking paper lines. October Afternoon is no longer in business. As for the rings, if the ring is smaller, the book does not close flat. Your rings seem large, but are probably the best size for your book. I hope you will show us when you make some journals with your non-Christmas Golden Books. Happy crafting and thank you for your fabulous video tutorials.
I was still watching your video when I asked the pricing ?? You answered it soon after. Great price point on a beautiful item! I’m sure they will sell well!
Oh, my! This is just totally amazing! It almost seems sacreligious to tear apart a Golden Book, but I LOVE this idea! I have a collection of between 450 and 500.
I have been hoarding LGB to make junk journals too. You inspired me to get a move on them. I also like that you made it look simple and streamlined, along with your tips. Thank you!
Love all you do! I would reinforce the old book pages. I have made two using three signatures, but this is a great gift idea. Thank you for all your craft fair projects.
OMG!! I can't believe you used your stash of October Afternoon Christmas paper for these journals! Since October Afternoon is no longer in business, all those papers are collectable. The Little Golden Books are also collectable. You may not have paid a lot of money for them, but you need to consider its current value before pricing your journals! Also, I think the best part of the LGB is the gold foil on the binding. I would try to salvage it and use it in the book somewhere. You did an amazing job, Amber! 😁💜
Thank you, Amber, for showing this tutorial! I wanted to do a LGB for my Grandson this year (2021) for his birthday on Christmas Eve! I really appreciate your step by step adding papers, and envelopes, too. I’ll be adding photos for him, to finish it off for him a bit. I’ve watched a lot of tutorials, but love YOURS the best! God Bless xoxo Gillian
You'll probably not see this. But Oh My Goodness! You are truly AWESOME. I'm a long time subbie, first time writer!! I have been in a funk for a bit! I have 42 LGBs and was feeling a bit overwhelmed. I have been adding 3 signatures, the middle one being a travel journal. And for $20 cdn. A LOT of work. But a labour of love. You know!! But seeing your latest you tube video was just what l needed to drag me out of my funk. Thank you soooooo much for everything you do. I adore your channel. You are awesome! Alison. XOXOXOXO
So there is an easier way to get the book apart with no damage The staples are under the gold strip. Just pick the gold paper off with a cutting tool of some sort. Do the front and back to reveal the staple. On the back I just pried up the prong, then on the front I pulled from the front with wire pliers and pulled the staples out It was a lot easier than pulling in the book
These are so cute. I would definitely not hesitate to pay $15 for one, especially after seeing all the work you put into them! Thanks so very much for sharing your creativity and ideas with all of us.
Wow this video popped up tonight and my friend just asked me if I wanted to do a craft fair with her with my journals, but I didn't think I could get enough done quick enough. Maybe I'll try!! Must be a sign!💜🙏🏽💜
Oh my goodness. I am in love with that Santa book!! You did a great job! I really like how well you explain how to do this. Very organized and detailed.
I've been wanting to make these too! As usual you give the perfect directions on how to make. Your books are ADORABLE! Thanks for sharing with us! Now I need to fast forward and see if you sold out of all of these at your craft fair! I bet you did!
I have about 15 of the vintage books that I want to make journals out of but I can’t decide on how to start them. I have 6, (soon to be 7) grand babies and thought of making each one kind of a memory book for them. I wish I still had my son and daughters little golden books. It would be so nice to make these for them with their personal books they actually owned.
Amber you have a treasure in those books. I hope craft fair customers recognize the value of having one of those journals. The cost to purchase one of those vintage books is pretty expensive.
Very nice job! Only thing I would add is some journaling lines or notebook paper to white pages because writing in straight lines is rather difficult for me but love ❤️ this idea!
I am new to your channel, and really enjoying it! I have an old Andy Pandy album from the 60's, and as I'm really minimalising the possessions in my home, had no clue what to do with it..BUT..now that I've seen this tutorial, I am so glad can make it into my journal (I was born in 1963, so very apt!) using your ideas (I always seem to mess up writing out cards, so therefore I have some cute extra envelopes!)...utterly fabulous!!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
I have been following you for months and months. I found your LBG junk journal tutorial and tried your version. Have been paper crafting a long time but new to RUclips for teaching, etc. I will be uploading the video to my channel tomorrow. I am trying different binding methods and just have to say your design layout and "spine design" is fantastic. I will be doing the ring journals for a more modern design and fabric and traditional spine for some of the others. I just wanted to say thanks for this great tutorial. I rave about you in tomorrow's video so thought I should stop by and let you know! Thanks for your channel, I love it! Happy Crafting!
💓💚💓 This was truly ExTrAordinary!!! I have dozens of vintage LGB's from the 70's and I cannot wait to get started on them. Some are Christmas but I think the others will be precious as well. Thanks for sharing this!!! 💚💓💚

Alison. XOXOXOXO
Allison, thank you so much for your sweet comment! I’m so glad you enjoyed my video! Your support means so much! Thanks again.
xo Amber ❤️
So there is an easier way to get the book apart with no damage
The staples are under the gold strip. Just pick the gold paper off with a cutting tool of some sort. Do the front and back to reveal the staple. On the back I just pried up the prong, then on the front I pulled from the front with wire pliers and pulled the staples out
It was a lot easier than pulling in the book
I love these, such good pointers and tips. Thanks for sharing. Wow what a great price.
Omg if I made these I couldn’t get rid of them 😂 so so precious! Love it!
These are so cute. I would definitely not hesitate to pay $15 for one, especially after seeing all the work you put into them! Thanks so very much for sharing your creativity and ideas with all of us.
I am going to try and do these with the non Christmas books. Just got 12 of them for 7.00 at good will
Wow this video popped up tonight and my friend just asked me if I wanted to do a craft fair with her with my journals, but I didn't think I could get enough done quick enough. Maybe I'll try!! Must be a sign!💜🙏🏽💜
Oh my goodness. I am in love with that Santa book!! You did a great job! I really like how well you explain how to do this. Very organized and detailed.
This are beautiful! My question is how did they do at the craft shows?
I have watched your videos over and over! Love your creativity and talent!!
A good project for when kids home for Christmas holidays
I've been wanting to make these too! As usual you give the perfect directions on how to make. Your books are ADORABLE! Thanks for sharing with us! Now I need to fast forward and see if you sold out of all of these at your craft fair! I bet you did!
These are A-dorable! Love how you designed & put them together. So creative!
These are great, love them. Thank you for sharing. Glad you’re feeling better.
Love the books theh take me back to my childhood. Makes me want loom for some.
Rather than fussing w cutting the sliver off the folder, why not just make the folder deeper by one 16th? Seems simpler. Great job overall!
Carla Mowell - exactly! Keep it simple and easy.
I love this, i would turn the into a Christmas Cookie Recipe Book. You are so wonderful!
What a wonderful way of to bring these beautiful books back to life. Could there be any copy right laws for using these particular books?
You did a great job Amber! Thank you for sharing your talent, your ideas and your enthusiasm! I'm definitely going to make one for myself💗
I love these junk journals! Great job on them. You’re so organized, and a wonderful teacher.
I always love your craft fair series, these books are wonderful, hope you feel better soon!
Amber you have a treasure in those books. I hope craft fair customers recognize the value of having one of those journals. The cost to purchase one of those vintage books is pretty expensive.
Always amazed at your ideas and ability to make it so easy for us. Ty so much
I love using children’s book the art work in them are amazing . These are adorable
Very nice job! Only thing I would add is some journaling lines or notebook paper to white pages because writing in straight lines is rather difficult for me but love ❤️ this idea!
Love these ! I love anything vintage and especially Christmas . Lovely books for holiday photos
Feel better. Thanks for these delightful journals!
Great project. Love them. Great gift for new mom.
I have the Golden Book that was my great niece’s favorite story to read when she was running to read. I think I’ll be making something for her. Tfs
I absolutely love these. What do people use these for exactly?
I am new to your channel, and really enjoying it!
I have an old Andy Pandy album from the 60's, and as I'm really minimalising the possessions in my home, had no clue what to do with it..BUT..now that I've seen this tutorial, I am so glad can make it into my journal (I was born in 1963, so very apt!) using your ideas (I always seem to mess up writing out cards, so therefore I have some cute extra envelopes!)...utterly fabulous!!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Awesome Idea for the books. I'm sure they will be a hit.
I love the idea of using a local print shop-keep local money local and support local small businesses!!! 😎
Oh wow, Amber! You did a fantastic job on your journals! Perfect for your craft show! TFS!
Cute ideas Love this, Our local print shop can turn a manual into a spiral bound book if you need it.
Thank you so much for your sweet words! I’m so glad you are enjoying crafting with the LGB’s!!! They are so fun! ❤️ Amber
@@lyriclovercrafts 😊😁💜
