You made everything so clear and concise. You are a very good teacher. I’m 65 years old and have lost some of the feeling in my hands. But you went slow enough for this old lady. I’m going to make your journal tomorrow and try to use up my papers! I’m a pressed flower artist and will incorporate my flowers into this project. Thanks so much!
I appreciate your thoroughness in your instructions and your intent to use all the paper!! It's a responsible act and we all know we have LOTS of paper. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I've seen several journal videos, mainly where they were making the paper. I love this because it is much easier to understand the whole idea. I enjoy putting papers together, and dying papers etc, but then I had way too many papers. I made lots of cards, but still had lots of papers left over. The clean and simple approach is great for me. I wasn't too sure what the other journal people were actually going to do with their creations. This shows me clearly and now I want to make some as gifts. Thank you again.
You done a wonderful job making this journal and I love that you didn’t edit out your mistakes to show everyone that mistakes happen behind the scenes, no ones perfect & that mistakes can easily be fixed ❤️ You done a wonderful job 🤗
I love your technical terms--pokey, flippy. Now you are talking MY language. My problem isn't so much making the journal because I have been watching you for years. My problem is the journaling. That is a BIG problem! You did a GREAT job!
Place bags in opposite directions so items would not fall out of them. Love this idea to use paper. Could add ribbon to close if you did not want to turn bags around.
I love putting envelopes in my junk journals....great as a tip in as well as a fold out, or just flat on the page. I don't use a template, just score lines and a little snipping. My current addiction is making pockets.....very quick and easy. Lovely papers and process video. Joie xx 🌿🤓❤️
I've made junk journals however I am glad you showed us the switching you did, I can incorporate that into my journals now, I love your channel and tho I am a long time crafter, I learn new and different skills everytime I watch so thanks for takung the time to share.
Welcome to the junk journal world! I love how you made your envelope work...that is one thing that is so cool about junk journaling, is that everything can work! So fun Your journal is super cute and it's amazing how easy you make this look...and it is really that easy! It's a great way to enjoy your favorite paper pad every single day. Love those policy envelopes, too! I am really enjoying this series! I also use an old thick catalog and shove my pages into it to make sure I am poking with the awl into the fold (hope that makes sense). I have a awl to poke holes; you can also use the Tim Holtz pokey tool as an awl. Sometimes I also washi some of the shorter pages in place so they don't move when the holes are punched (I just remove the washi later). I also like the five-hole pamphlet stitch for these larger journals so that every piece of paper is captured by the binding. Because I make a lot of these, I have a template I made from some old file folder so my holes are always in the same place.
Oh my. So simple and very pretty. You’re a great teacher. I love that you kept your mistake in. It’s a reminder that when we are crafting things don’t always go perfectly but it doesn’t mean we can’t correct it and end up with something beautiful. 💜
I am new to this have never done paper crafts. I am a 30 yr crocheter and wld love to do this but so intimidated by this! Beautiful choice of papers and great tutorial.
Cute journal anyone can use. I wouldn’t call it a “junk journal” but more like a traveler’s notebook. Anyway it can be transformed into anything by the things you add to it. Great inspiration for using our paper.
Fe y Arte you are right! Journals are for us to give them life and make them pretty and useful to our needs! I made a window cover mini booklet in my channel and my kids loved them! Use them for gratitude journaling and for drawing their feelings out! Too cute!!
Let me make myself clear....this is NOT ugly but girl, you can make even the most plain jane project spectacular with your positive words, comments and suggestions! Your instructions are even inspiring for someone having a rough day! Thanks for sharing your ideas. Have a great day!
This tutorial is an excellent one in making my traveler's notebook/ junk journal style. Love it. It is easy. Thank you for sharing your talent. God bless.
I've made several junk, altered, and pamphlet journals, but I've never seen the envelope page that covers the inner thread. Wow! Thanks for sharing this!!!! I wish I'd known about this before. Lovely journal :) Makes me want to go play in my stash.
sometimes I love your bonus ideas as much as your gorgeous original idea! using my scraps to make mini envelopes makes me a very happy crafter indeed! xoxo
out of all the videos I've been watching to learn how to make one of these, this was absolutely the most helpful and easy to comprehend! Gonna go now.... gotta get started on my journal
Great job on your first junk journal! Don’t you just love making them?! They can be as simple or as fancy as you want them to be. I just LOVE making them! 😃 💕
The pink tool you were using is a Brad setter. I used the same thing to punch my signatures in the very beginning until I finally bent it and had to get a real awl lol. 🤣🤣 Also you can keep the needle in by twisting the actual Brad setter at the bottom, that's how you tighten it. 😊 Your journal turned out really nice. 👍🏼
TFS! I was looking for a quick and easy way to make a junk journal and you nailed it! I've never made one because I thought it was too hard, but after viewing your tutorial...easy peasy!!! Thanks again. Love all your videos and tutorials.
awl, used to poke holes in thick fabric like leather. Great journal. Love your tutorials.I wonder if using a mouse pad would be helpful to poke the holes through.
Hi Amber! I love all your videos and anxiously wait for each new one you post. Can you tell me the difference between a traveler's notebook and a junk journal? How would you use each one?
You are a great teacher and love the simple styling of this junk journal. I have not wanted to see with my machine but I think I can do this style. Going to make 2 for friends I’m having dinner with next week. So excited.
I like how simple this was to make. Do you have any videos with tips on ways to fill up a junk journal? I’m not sure how to fill it up and I don’t have access to expensive or hard-to-find materials.
This is absolutely beautiful!!! I’m soooo glad I found you. I have been wanting to try making a journal but didn’t know how. Now I do!! Thank you!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Love your easy to follow instructions. What a cute journal & I am always looking for ways to use up scraps. Thank You for sharing….lots of inspiration! 😊
All of your videos are so very helpful in assisting crafters like me in creating some great fun random items! Love all of these videos! Keep ‘em comin!
Thank you so much! I haven’t decided yet. I will probably just use it to journal my favorite quotes, lyrics, and document my goals and ideas. Endless possibilities! xo Amber
I've never made a junk journal, but now I want too! Great tutorial. I love that the envelope hides the knot too. An awl from the hardware store would definitely be stronger. I have a very old one and it still works great. It would be fun to put some tiny beads and/or sequins in the bottom of the clear glassine bags for a cute shaker too. Where do you get your glassine bags? I might have missed it, but didn't see any in the links you shared.
I really liked your tutorial! Now I can't wait to try it! Need to use my scraps and this is a PERFECT use of those gorgeous papers. I especially liked the idea of the envelopes from scraps and how to make those little notches. Thanks!
Love this! I can't wait to make one of these for Hayden. She loves to journal & draw. I am making her a big one which she will keep in her room, but this one she can take wherever she goes...even on her trips & write & draw in it as she goes. She is going to love it.! :) You are AMAZING! Your instructions are easy to follow & you are such an inspiration, as are those people you give credit to. :)
May I ask where you got the printed paper bags? I didn’t see it in your list. I’m sorry if you have shared before but I am brand new to your channel! Right now I’m watching your use your paper series & enjoying it! TFS!
Amber, my envelope came out like that too. Don't feel bad! Go home envelope punch board, you're drunk. Thank you so much for your tutorial. I've been interested but intimidated by junk journals, but I think this is a good place to start. Plus, I love these ideas for using up those last 5-10 sheets that you just don't know what to do with! 🌷
Hi Amber! Great project! & I love the bonus of the envelope @the end. I think I would maybe glue one or two inside as extra pocket. Also would a great money envelope😊. U did a beautiful job🤓 hugs Donna
Love, love, love what your doing, right now I'm making 6 of the photo albums for my family.lots of work but fun. Thanks again for all the great ideas and wonderful tutorials.
A wonderful project, Amber! Thanks for sharing all the detailed steps! Lovely junk journal. I want to use my paper goodies to make one! Enjoy your weekend dear. Hugs~ Josie :)
Hi Amber 🙂 Thanks for sharing your junk journal tutorial with us. 🤗 Just wondering how you would go about keeping it closed, in between use? 🧶🎀📎🔐 God Bless! 😇

The binding made me so afraid to try..
But the 3 phamphlet hole looks super easy!
Oh my. So simple and very pretty. You’re a great teacher. I love that you kept your mistake in. It’s a reminder that when we are crafting things don’t always go perfectly but it doesn’t mean we can’t correct it and end up with something beautiful. 💜
What a great idea the one flipping you were going to thinking about going down as a pocket you can always glue it down as a band to hold stuff
I am new to this have never done paper crafts. I am a 30 yr crocheter and wld love to do this but so intimidated by this! Beautiful choice of papers and great tutorial.
Thank you for making a a true beginner’s guide to junk journaling! Gives me the confidence to try making my first one!
Cute journal anyone can use. I wouldn’t call it a “junk journal” but more like a traveler’s notebook. Anyway it can be transformed into anything by the things you add to it. Great inspiration for using our paper.
Why can't it be called a junk journal? It doesn't necessarily have to be made out of all junk.
Fe y Arte you are right! Journals are for us to give them life and make them pretty and useful to our needs! I made a window cover mini booklet in my channel and my kids loved them! Use them for gratitude journaling and for drawing their feelings out! Too cute!!
What a great idea to conceal the binding with an envelope! Thank you for sharing this guide.
Envelope in the middle. Brilliant.
LOVE your small envelopes that you made out of your long scraps!!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! Perfect tutorial for a beginner! Very easy and simple to follow! Thank you!
Let me make myself clear....this is NOT ugly but girl, you can make even the most plain jane project spectacular with your positive words, comments and suggestions! Your instructions are even inspiring for someone having a rough day! Thanks for sharing your ideas. Have a great day!
I'm so very glad you've moved into junk journaling!
This tutorial is an excellent one in making my traveler's notebook/ junk journal style. Love it. It is easy. Thank you for sharing your talent. God bless.
Wildflower is my ultimate favorite collection. I framed the paper you used as the cover and hung it up in my office at work. Love that paper.
if you do not have an awl, you can use a small nail and an old phone book
When you get to the last glassene envelope, you could trim the top instead of the side for a more stable spot for an insert. Your book is gorgeous!
I love those clear bags...and the papers are really lovely, actually the whole thing is just cool!
I've made several junk, altered, and pamphlet journals, but I've never seen the envelope page that covers the inner thread. Wow! Thanks for sharing this!!!! I wish I'd known about this before. Lovely journal :) Makes me want to go play in my stash.
