    When you started painting those bright RED stripes, I found myself grinning. Another great and absolutely adorable project and you have made it look so easy that I think I am going to make them for my Grandma Shed in my back yard. My shed has double doors so I may make the arch with not so quite a high pitch but it is going to look great. Thanks for the inspiration ! Every year I decorate my back yard even more than I do the front yard; my living room is at the back of the house. But the biggest reason is because every year, I turn my shed into a Santa's and Mrs. Claus' Christmas house and the first weekend of December, we have an open house for our HOA families and invite them over for hot cocoa, hot apply cider, donuts and sugar cookies. Santa (my husband) gives out candy canes to the children and we have a lot of fun doing it. I think if my candy cane archway turns outs well, I may even do it for the gate ! Thanks again !!! Good job !!! Texas Granny.

    Your results are fantastic with a professional looking outcome. Thank you for showing us your process.
    One little note that may also help in the painting that you more than likely know but many subscribers may not. I have found to always add 1 more coat of the base color (white in this case) over the taped area's first before painting the red guaranteeing absolute sharp edges of the other color. That white ( base color) will seal the tape at any possible area the red (second color) would normally try to bleed under. In your case this time it was obvious you didn't need to do this but if using rough wood with a much coarser grain it helps big time!

    Love this. The only thi k I would change is I would move the lights in from the edge a bit more, just a little too close for me. This turned out so good!

    Jordan, I love this idea. For this Christmas season, I built a 30 foot x 8 feet high lighted tunnel using net lighting (some bulbs blink). I have a gap between my front door's two steps down to the tunnel. Your candy cane archway is a brilliant idea to tie in my house to my lighted tunnel. Not sure if I have enough time to build it this season but for sure I'll do it for next season.

      I think the red was (flirt alert) behr paint. I used exterior paint so a sealer was not needed.

    This looks great! I just got a jigsaw and might want to try something like this. Do you have any recommendations for sealing the wood? I know that I'd do multiple coats of paint and exterior grade plywood but the sun and rain beating down on this may age it quicker than I'd like.

    It looks like you changed from red to white bulbs on the red stripes in the final reveal. Did the red bulbs not show up well?

    What is the measurement from the edge to the outside of the curve of candy cane

    Does it have to be that way 4 the lights or can I put the light fully through

      It might work with other lights. You can also staple them to the wood instead of drilling the holes out.

    why did you flip the wood over? you said so that the canes wont be going the same way? but if you flip the cane its going the opposite direction..........no need to really flip the wood to cut?

    • @holidaylightingcreations
      @holidaylightingcreations  Месяц назад

      I decided to flip it because certain plywood has a good side which is smooth and a bad side which is rough with knots and other imperfections.
