Welcome to Holiday Lighting & Creations! We upload DIY projects, How To videos, and product videos for all holidays.
Each year our family goes all out for Christmas. Many of our display items are handmade. We have been putting lights up for over a decade and have learned so much along our journey. Our Christmas display has over 300,000 lights and many handmade decorations. We open our display for the public to walk through each year at our home in Austin, TX.
We always get asks how we create our decorations and put up our display, so we decided to show you on this page.

How to wrap a tree with Christmas lights
Very helpful video. As others mentioned, it’s one of the more easy to understand tutorials out there. If you ever do an updated video, the only thing I would add is some more close-up shots as you explain what you’re doing. Thanks!
do a video on how to untangle the mf
Very nice
Im gonna try this but weave them instead of zip tie hope that works i hate zip ties. Also trying irrigation hose or pex for the bow much more pliable.
It's great for along pathway all year round 🎉
Very nice! you've done a lot of relyl good DIY work. Here's ours. Not as grand, but a cool drone video. (I didn't fly the drone.) ruclips.net/video/a1dhXuIMyeI/видео.html
Nice job, and thanks for the correction on the MDF, which I don't think would hold up very well. Also, I lvie in a very high wind area, and I don't see those bows lasting long. I also appreciated you primed AND painted the wood. It will hold up much better that way.
I love it 🥰, but not creative like you in wood working!
Storage for these oversized displays has to be insane. Something I have noticed on quite a few different sites is that none of them address the issue of making these display items easily disassembled down for storage and then easily reassembled the next year. I like the suggestion someone else made for wheels. That would make moving them easier.
It all unbolts, so should be easy to store. You'll have the lid and four flat walls. One assumes if you're doing this level of decoration, you have somewhere to put it!
I'm looking forward to building something like this for Christmas in 2025.. but when Christmas is over and it's time to take down decorations and there's lights all over the PVC pipe.. do you have any suggestions on how to disassemble for storing?
Thank you for the inspiration!!! I just finished making a set. I built a crown molding cross piece instead of an arch. Came out beautifully!!! Gets lots of wow's!! THANK YOU!!
Also, what do you charge for a small, medium and a large box?
How long did it take you to make the largest one?
What is the supposed problem with putting the slide on plug on the wrong side of the spt wire I have done it both and it works just fine.
Bro you're an absolute master! You made the process so simple its tempting to try it (on a small size tho lol) but I'm equally tempted to just buy them directly from you!
Due to the cost id make these out of cardboard maybe support with 2x2. Id paint and wrap in plastic in case of rain.
I’d use trash cans as the base then make the bulbs. It’s a lot of work and huge expense to make these. It’s very cool but is or worth it?
You are doing MAGIC ❤❤❤ Thanks for everything and blessed Christmas to you and your family ❤
Now show us how you made the rounded one!
Im doing this this year and how I remember which way to put the line is, LARGE PRONG=LINES, SMALL PRONG=SMOOTH.
i can wrap the tree with lights but the math solution makes my head is wreck
How do you get those top branches? Really, really tall ladder? Or do you climb into the tree and work from there? I wrapped a relatively small tree but could only do the bottom half because I couldn't figure out how to safely get into the higher branches.
This is pro level 😮
Now to fold it up and pack it away 😳
I keep hearing that song in my head I HAVE TO MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS 🎵
Happy Holidays n thanks for the video
How did you make the round and short rectangular box?
An absolute nightmare to store , takes up a ton of space , and alot of work and materials to only get 6 lights...lol
Clark Griswold Tree. lol, looks great.
I love this....but ALL that work.....and they DON'T light up?..........
That's sick!
Put the foam on a spinning base then make the hot wire to the full profile. One spin and you have an almost perfect bulb shape
Way too much work
i have a community garden with 20 on ground lights (hedges, arbors and trees) and then 12 dangling from 16 foot trees. I have cords everywhere and always end up with 2 female ends which means I've placed a cord incorrectly. We are volunteers and no pros and all women, no funding. please show us a video of how to do multiple store brought lights and extension cords. Thanks
Wrapping electrical chord around the tree causes an electrical field around the entire tree!
You should follow up with a tutorial on a 20,000 square foot quanset hut for off season storage.
79 strands...at $20 a strand (CAD, on sale)...$1500+. Looks nice but daaaaaang $$$
Home Depot sells them.
I made mine with a lot of lights . I made it about 35 feet and the cost was about $300 dollars but it was cool when i got done . Wife was mad but i don't care . LOL
We live in the Midwest. If I'm worried inclement weather and I want to make it durable enough for strong winds and heavy snow, any suggestions on how to reinforce it? Anything I can add to this design or any slight adjustments that would help the whole structure stay up right and in tact?
I live in south west mi. and it's been holding up so far . I used 4 ft. rods in the ground .
Wow! very nice Christmas display! If I had 3 acres, this is how I'd use it too! 🎄
Spending that kind of money is definitely drugs
Wonderful greetings from germany
So pretty
The very nicest tree I’ve ever seen with lights. You should do a video showing palm trees. Thanks for the nice work and formulas
10:27 it would have been easier to plug the cord into the strand instead of the other way around
No, the strand has to plug into the cord due to the size of the plug prongs on the main cord. The main cord must carry all the power.
Can you make a video how you take the lights off of the tree?
Finally I find this video. I looking for long time. This time I will subscribe and save this video and share it and everithing for be sure dont lost it not more
Can I get a free giant fake tree to hang them on if I buy 500 of them ?
Block matrix.....
