Yep, there’s multiple ways. You can do it through Air Link, Steam Link and Virtual Desktop. The first 2 are free and virtual desktop is a paid app, but I personally find it to be the best. The quality of connection between your headset and your PC comes down to how good your router is and how it’s connected, it has NOTHING to do with your internet speed. @@henriitvi didn’t mention link cable quality in the previous comment, but that’s astounding aswell, not any noticeable latency, not from what I could tell running FPS games in cinema mode at least. But if you’re gonna grab a Quest, you’ll no doubt be using it wirelessly once you’ve had a taste of it. Unless you have a cable pully system or somethjng
Underrated
Thank you brother, the videos that I watched were very difficult.
steamvr link is better for quest 2 in my experience
You are a smooth brain if you use link connect. Its not a supprted feature for over a year now. Steamlink and VD are the only way anyone should play pcvr.
I've noticed the Quest 3 losing power when plugged in with the PC link cable, even when not using it. Didn't happen with the Quest 2. It sucks having to disconnect it and plug it into a wall. Part of me thinks they did it just to get people to buy the charge base.
the quest 2’s battery still drained while playing link, but not when it’s off. you could invest in kuject’s link cable to mitigate the battery dying, or something similar.
What link cable is he using I can't seem to find a good one
Most likely the official Link cable from Meta
Do you need a special pc for the quest 2
Which GPU do you need for cable VR with the Quest 3 ? I have a RTX 3060.
A 3060 will work great with VR 👍
I'd recommend a better gpu. Many games run poorly with my 3060ti. Kayak only runs on lowest and it looks worst then native graphics at that point. Contractors I can run 120 though
@@Gh0stz9211 thx, I have upgraded to a RTX 4080 and a Ryzen 7800 X3D. I am in heaven now. 😁
Hi can you tell me how to connect the link cable
The quality is good, I have to complain about the controller tracking tho, bc it's using Bluetooth to track, it make pc vr track terrible
That seems to be an issue with your setup, none of us have issues with tracking
can i play pcvr using the quest 3 without the cable, just wireless? (it’s my first time buying a VR and i know nothing about them)
Yep, there’s multiple ways. I recommend watching a few videos on the best set ups for each app :)
@@Lamfords Thank you so much!💯❤️
Hey what link cable do you use?!? And could you possibly share a link?
I was thinking of buying either a quest 3 or a gaming pc(RTX4060) to play pcvr with my quest 1. I already have quest 1, and I can only afford either quest 3 or a gaming pc.
What do you think is better buying a gaming pc to play top AA pcvr games with my quest 1or buying the quest 3 and play the standalone games from meta library?
Definitely a gaming pc, as it opens up so many more avenues than just VR, and it will also breathe life back into your Quest 1 which is not really supported as a standalone anymore. The Quest 3 is great, and a sizeable upgrade from the Quest 1, but you can always pick one up later down the line once they’ve got a bit cheaper.
Is there a way I can play pc vr without steam vr or using the Internet in anyway just got my quest 3 and can only seem to find airlinek or steam link 🤔 I never needed this with my old gen 1 oculas quest a video on this would be grate as I have a powerful pc and don't want the Internet to be a graphics bottle neck
@@Maxste-qy6pf When streaming wirelessly, to your pc, whether it’s through Airlink, Steam Link or Virtual Desktop, you’re not actually using your internet connection, you’re just using the Wi-Fi signal of the router between your pc and the headset, your quality will be dependent on the router itself. Other than that, I’m afraid a cable is the only way to have to connect it without using Wi-Fi. If you don’t want to use steam, then just use the oculus/Meta pc software.
Man, ive been trying to get my hands on pcvr for the longest time but all thr pcs ive ever seen hsve been like 2500$ for like the bsre minimum requirements
I peeped those presonus monitors.
Nice!
The problem is that the battery drains hard and pc does not support the power to keep it charge so it will last less than the quest 2.
There needs to be a solution to this
If you're on desk top you can buy a pcie usbc port with power deliver and then it will charge while playing
There does need to be but as I seem to be the only one on this idiot infested dirtball in space that has any sort of understanding on what the fuck is going on with these sorry excuses for technology, improvement is done if you haven't noticed. They make small improvements but fuck it up at the same time making things worse. Things are needing improvement not worsened.
I have a USB C to USB C and charge my quest 3 went i use it, i Buy it the cable in a local store named Steren (Mexican store)
Might to start using the usbc 3.2 2x2 port for more power now.
get the magnetic rechargeable batteries
thanks so much man
Is it better than quest 2 for wireless
Definitely, it's got a much faster processor, also supports Wifi-6E, and AV1 encoding for 4000 series NVIDIA or 7000 series AMD
@@CherryProductions949 ok
I use Virtual Desktop and I get a input latency of 45ms which is pretty good. I don‘t want to play with an d-link cable but Input delay should be between 10-20ms
does it stay charged when playing through link cable
Unfortunately not, it does charge and will make it last a little longer than playing standalone, but it doesn’t charge faster than drains. Best option is to play wirelessly via airlink/virtual desktop and have a battery pack hooked up, as that can maintain the charge a bit better
Do we need special cable or usb c to c cable will also work?
@@doc_verma it can be USB A to C, or C to C. Just make sure it’s a good quality cable from a reputable brand. I believe the one I use in the video is one from KIWI Design.
@Lamfords i just got quest 3, and i have lenovo legion slim 7i (rtx 4060).
I am yet to try PCVR thing. Trying to figure out the steps.
@ Nice! Definitely give it a go, there’s a few options, so give wireless a try too. Cable can be more stable, but then you’re tethered to the device. They each have their upsides and downsides.
Minimum GPU carts?
When I see gameplay like this. Makes me wonder why even get the vr and not just do it in real life
hows the screen door effect is it alot better then the quest 2
@@tubathecoolkid6919 yep! A lot better
While I plug in to the Pc my VR always running out of battery and it did show charging while playing it . Know any error ?
@@kimtech5317 Annoyingly, the Quest 2/3 can’t get enough power from a PC’s USB to keep the headset from dying. It will slow the battery drain, but it uses it faster than it can charge it. Best option would to be to look at getting a hot swappable battery pack, like the ones from BOBOVR.
So I know the quest cable is official but it doesn't charge right?
What ate your pc specs?
I like to use it with blade and sorcery vr and it is mind blowing
It won’t let me use quest link to play pcvr games ?
@@poonzy7112 make sure you’ve download the oculus/meta PC software and the the software and your headset are fully up to date. If you’ve done that, it may be an issue with the cable you’re using. Give wireless airlink/steam link a go, if you have a good router.

Kuject Link Cable, was around $20.
@@LamfordsHow does the Quest 3 perform battery wise while connected via cable with usb? Do you still get more battery life than using it standalone?
@@andreato7333 unfortunately not, though new updates will make it slightly better. If you don’t want to buy a 3rd pert battery strap, then the best way I’ve found to get the most out of it is to play PCVR with Virtual Desktop and have the headset charged with a strong power bank. Just have it strapped to the back of the headset or in your pocket. I’ve been able to get about 6 hours before the headset eventually runs out. It’s a shame, but that’s the downside with standalone.
@@Lamfords Damn, so it would be a downgrade from Quest 2. I play only PCVR linked with an USB cable to the pc. And even if the battery drains, i finish gaming long before the battery drains completely. I was hoping around 3/4 hours with a cable to pc. Thanks for answering.
@@andreato7333 happy to help! Hopefully there can be some workaround in the future with system updates and better optimisation, but till then, we’re stuck with this.

But how to link it with steam, i wanna play re village
@@syedaminjazmisysulaiman6286 once it’s connected to your pc, either through a cable or wireless, launch a VR game on steam and it should show up on your headset. You don't need Link Cable.
There was an app Virtual Desktop, but now there is Steam Link app which is free.
Cable it's always risky to break usb-c port. And come on, cables are boring, Quest 2-3 can work without any cable which makes it much cooler than many other headsets.
The quest 3 would be an amazing headset😊 if it sidn't die after 2 hours of gameplay...
The Apple Vision Pro, worth over $3,500, has about the same amount of time before it dies, too. It lasts for roughly 2-1/2 hours. Bad battery life come with the territory when you’re dealing with VR Headsets. That’s why they make portable battery packs you can buy to extend the time. But really, who needs more than 2 hours? People looking for neck problems/eye fatigue? Lol
@@jarvismane6700 if your neck can't handle that then you are just weak ngl, and most people need more than 2 hours of gameplay. I mean i usually play 2-5 hours on vr if i really get into it. But i mean yeah there are portable batteries. But you have to pay for it.
Do i need to cennect it to my pc or is it all in one

Should I get the quest 3 or the quest 2?
The Quest 2 is still very good, but at this point I would say go for the Quest 3, as there are already games in development that will only be playable on Quest 3. It won’t happen overnight, but Quest 2 will eventually be left behind.

I’m lit losing my sanity rn as I am using a USB-C link cable like everyone else but the PC says “USB-3 recommended” and the app thinks the cable is a USB-2???? Like wadafak oculus now I can’t play DCS 💀😭🙏
I recommend not using cable and using virtual desktop. No need for wires these days. If you set it up well it's actually been proven to be better in most cases cause the insane lengths of cables people buy and how good wireless is these days. Plus who wants a cable tying them down? No one that's why buy a wireless vr headset
sometimes there is really bad compression
@@LouRaX supersampling and more settings makes that compression mean nothing. Looks way better. If you are playing VR games that is sitting sure plug in if you want but for full active playspace games screw cables.
