nice review, tuned for full review. liked and subscribed :) do it make difference if: A) samsung ram (stock) + crucial one 8gb stick, B) crucial 2x8gb, C) samsung stock + same ram. Which is better? i heard that crucial ram have cl22 which is kinda slow? or samsung is slow too?
Almost all of the mainstream 3200mhz sodimm ram is at 22CL, the Samsung, Cricial, Gskill, Corsair. So unless you want to spend a lot of money, you are stuck with 22CL, but thats not bad, considering that is a laptop. As for the combination, it really dosen't matter as long as both sticks have the same specks, voltage and speeds. Ideally, I prefer to keep the same brand, but I have tested mixed, and there is no difference.
I'm going to be installing one of the Samsung 8gb RAM since crucial was out of stock on their kits. It looked like you put the second RAM in facing a different way than the other one. Is this right?
It's hard to choose these days, if you have the budget, go for Samsung, for less money you can get Crucial, for even cheaper, anything else that is on sale at Amazon or Newegg.
another question - finally opened mine today - when I turned it on battery was only at 10% after having it plugged in for like 2 hours--- finally up to 85%, after unplugging and replugging it in... however - it only shows its charging for about 30 seconds (with the battery bar moving) then just says 'xx% available (plugged in)' - is that normal?? or do I have an issue with the battery already? My 4 yr old hp shows the 'battery bar' moving the whole time it's charging.??

Hey! I am pretty sure there are models of this computer that come with a 144hz screen. I am wondering if it is possible to but the 60hz model and upgrade the screen to 144hz. Any responses are appreciated. Thanks!
@@HardwareSense I've done some research into the screen upgrade and its more work than I thought, the display backing/frame is different between the 60Hz and 144Hz displays so that would have to also be replaced AND the display cable is also different between the 60Hz and 144Hz models
I recently bought this laptop and because it only had 256G NVMe ,I added 1 T hard drive to expand the memory But the system is not able to detect it and when I talked to the customer service they said because 1T hard drive didn't come with the original system I need to tattooing or register hard drive and when I search the internet nobody has the same problem ( and maybe you as well ) almost everyone because of the low memory capacity they were adding second hard drive without any problem for same system as mine. And since it's brand new, I don't think the problem is the sata cable Did you have the same problem?
I do not, but than again I will never add a mechanical drive in a laptop, or in any computer for that matter, unless is a server. Just get yourself an SSD, they are not expensive anymore, 500gb is under $50 now.
I'm using that Hdd for files and documents and etc, therefore Capacity is more important than speed. so I think that tattooing or registration thing they said was completely nonsense but thank you anyway for your respond
It is not detectable in disk manager nor bios . Since you and almost no one hadn't such a problem now I'm pretty sure it's something wrong about main board or cable. But because it's a brand new it's a kind of odd
Awesome vid! Subscribed and liked. Can’t wait for the full review. Just picked this laptop up from BB and appreciate you showing us how easy the upgrades are. Hoping I can connect two monitors to it for work and play!
This computer is a good deal for sure, but I went with the ASUS Tuf laptop for $599 at Best Buy that had slightly better gpu, design, and an IPS panel instead of that TN one. The hinge on this one didn't seem like the most durable thing either
The 1650Ti is less than 5% faster and on same games even the same, the 4600H is a lot better compared to the i5 10300H, so for $150 less the HP was and still is the clear winner.
@@HardwareSense Oh no I know, its not a big advantage if any off those those 2 components anyway. It was those other factors that sold it for me. Also leading up to the sale I had a hard time finding any documentation on upgradeability on this laptop or even any reviews, plus past HP bios hasn't been kind to me in the past when it comes to upgradability. On paper the HP is better value, but I was willing to pay a little extra for the machine that would fit my needs more definitively
So I just managed to snag this model. £499, a week ago. It’s been out of stock everywhere for awhile. I spoke to HP and they told me that they have now sadly discontinued this model. So it wasn’t going to come back in stock. Fortunately one came in stock on ao.com. Literally just one! And I managed to get it. You can’t find these specs for this price anywhere else. And so far I’ve been really impressed it’s run every game I’ve tried very smoothly. That said I am only mainly playing RTS games. But it runs Warhammer total war very smoothly on ultra settings at 1080p I also was lucky to get a model without any of the GREEN. Oh my painful here in Xbox? So thankfully the keyboard lights are white and the HP logo on the back of the laptop is black/silver. Just looks like a normal laptop pretty much which is great, I really don’t want one of these gaudy gaming laptop design!
Should be fine actually. Due to the fact that the development time started for cyberpunk was 2018 or earlier I think. So the tech i.e game engine was developed at that time using the available tech and then subsequently added for ray tracing compatible.

I certainly hope so, but this year is much worse than last one, when it comes to hardware
nice review, tuned for full review. liked and subscribed :)
do it make difference if:
A) samsung ram (stock) + crucial one 8gb stick,
B) crucial 2x8gb,
C) samsung stock + same ram.
@@HardwareSense thank you very very much.
I'm going to be installing one of the Samsung 8gb RAM since crucial was out of stock on their kits. It looked like you put the second RAM in facing a different way than the other one. Is this right?
Yes, they are opposite, but you will see that when you open it, there is no way to install them wrong, they just not going to fit
Will the mushkin ram ones work on this laptop the link that you put up?
Yes any DDR4 sodimm 3200mhz 1.2v 22CL or lower will work
@@HardwareSense is there any external gpu that can work on a pavilion?
@@anakiii3338 Not on this one, there is no Thunderbolt 3
thoughts on the build quality?
personally i think it looks very cheap but does it also feel the same way?
For $450, is excellent.
It doesn't, I have a lot more expensive laptops that feel cheaper.
@@kyeo_ji The qualty is very good, HP is known for the built qualty
Is this model with m.2 slot for Nvme ssd?
Yes
Why not just 1 8gb memory stick?
It will be a big bottleneck, you need 2 sticks to run in dual channel
I would like to upgrade the SATA SSD drive to either 1TB or 500GB. What brand do you recommend?
It's hard to choose these days, if you have the budget, go for Samsung, for less money you can get Crucial, for even cheaper, anything else that is on sale at Amazon or Newegg.
I just put a 1TB Samsung SSD in mine, was super easy and only $80 at Best Buy
Just added this data ssd to my laptop but it's not being read. Can't find how to enable the 2nd drive in the bios. Any advice?
No Bios setting, just go to Disk Management and format the new drive.
@@HardwareSense thank you! Do you know if it's a MBR or GPT partition style? Sorry new to this!
Nevermind I figured it out! Thank you
@@sunnyshahani whatever is giving you by default
another question - finally opened mine today - when I turned it on battery was only at 10% after having it plugged in for like 2 hours--- finally up to 85%, after unplugging and replugging it in... however - it only shows its charging for about 30 seconds (with the battery bar moving) then just says 'xx% available (plugged in)' - is that normal?? or do I have an issue with the battery already? My 4 yr old hp shows the 'battery bar' moving the whole time it's charging.??
Should be fine, just leave it charging over night
@@HardwareSense thanks - it did charge to 100%, was just surprised no 'moving' bar or even hoover over icon saying xx time til full charge like my older hp..
Trying to cop this, will this ever go back in stock?
Keep trying on a regular basis, ai think it will.
its restoked just 5 minut ago hurry up man. But only pickup store, no shipping
@@ГансүхГанболдын Almost bought another one, love it so much, what an awesome deal!
i have downloaded many games on this laptop and i want to get more space, so if i replace the new ssd with the old one, will all the games uninstall and reset my laptop?
It depends on what storage did you install them, main or secondary

Hey! I am pretty sure there are models of this computer that come with a 144hz screen. I am wondering if it is possible to but the 60hz model and upgrade the screen to 144hz. Any responses are appreciated. Thanks!
Yes there are, unfortunately a lot more expensive. But to answer your question, if I know the part number, and find it, I can do a screen upgrade.
I bought this computer already and as you said in the video the screen is really the only negative for me.. I would really like to upgrade it if can
@@willg8086 If I find the screen I will
Awesome! Hope you do, can't wait to see the vid!
@@HardwareSense I've done some research into the screen upgrade and its more work than I thought, the display backing/frame is different between the 60Hz and 144Hz displays so that would have to also be replaced AND the display cable is also different between the 60Hz and 144Hz models
I recently bought this laptop and because it only had 256G NVMe ,I added 1 T hard drive to expand the memory
But the system is not able to detect it
and when I talked to the customer service they said because 1T hard drive didn't come with the original system
I need to tattooing or register hard drive
and when I search the internet nobody has the same problem ( and maybe you as well )
almost everyone because of the low memory capacity they were adding second hard drive without any problem for same system as mine.
And since it's brand new, I don't think the problem is the sata cable
Did you have the same problem?
I do not, but than again I will never add a mechanical drive in a laptop, or in any computer for that matter, unless is a server. Just get yourself an SSD, they are not expensive anymore, 500gb is under $50 now.
I'm using that Hdd for files and documents and etc,
therefore Capacity is more important than speed.
so I think that tattooing or registration thing they said was completely nonsense
but thank you anyway for your respond
@@kavehshahriari1809 So the HDD is not recognized in disk manager?
It is not detectable in disk manager nor bios . Since you and almost no one hadn't such a problem now I'm pretty sure it's something wrong about main board or cable. But because it's a brand new it's a kind of odd
@@kavehshahriari1809 Did you try a different drive to eliminate this as incompatibility
What about thermals?
Excellent, coming up in the review
what if I want to upgrade m.2 ssd? can you please give some advice?
Nothing is stopping you, you can grab any Nvme drive that is in your budget
When you upgrade parts, should you disconnect/remove the battery? Or can I leave it in
Its really safe to do so, but from my experience for over 20 years I never had any issues, that being said, I know that I am risking potential damage.
@@HardwareSense Thanks, and what size screwdriver is it to open the back?
@@_mattster_ Regular Philips, not sure about the exact size

how about the HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-dk1013nv Intel Core i5-10300H / 8GB / 256GB SSD / GeForce GTX 1650 Ti??is it worth or not?
At what price?
@@HardwareSense at 700 dollars.its i5 10th Gen
@@hamzadakak4868 Too much, for 600 yes.
@@HardwareSense last question do u know which year model is the hp pavilion that I referred to u before?
@@hamzadakak4868 2020
@@PantsaBear Ride on! Let me know some feedback on it when you get it.
@@HardwareSense I shall!
the hinge is definetly durable

So I just managed to snag this model. £499, a week ago.
It’s been out of stock everywhere for awhile. I spoke to HP and they told me that they have now sadly discontinued this model. So it wasn’t going to come back in stock.
Fortunately one came in stock on ao.com. Literally just one! And I managed to get it.
You can’t find these specs for this price anywhere else.
And so far I’ve been really impressed it’s run every game I’ve tried very smoothly. That said I am only mainly playing RTS games. But it runs Warhammer total war very smoothly on ultra settings at 1080p
I also was lucky to get a model without any of the GREEN. Oh my painful here in Xbox? So thankfully the keyboard lights are white and the HP logo on the back of the laptop is black/silver. Just looks like a normal laptop pretty much which is great, I really don’t want one of these gaudy gaming laptop design!
I don't think 480$

It would, with like 10 FPS, lol
@@HardwareSense ahahah okay cheers , any games you recommend ? I just picked this up
@@Dognuhtz It can play pretty much everything on medium and high settings around 60 fps, I am quite impressed.
Should be fine actually. Due to the fact that the development time started for cyberpunk was 2018 or earlier I think. So the tech i.e game engine was developed at that time using the available tech and then subsequently added for ray tracing compatible.
700 dollars now:(
Yes unfortunately, not worth it for that money, the Gateway Creators Edition is with 2060 and 120hz panel for $699.
