I bought the laptop, I'm so happy having the luck of seeing this review. Great work men, after some months of heavy everyday use, I must say that this machine is an absolute BEAST. I also bought 8GB more of RAM and the SSD you recommended, and it flies. For $450 there is no way you can find another laptop with these specs. The screen is not bad at all, people are being to harsh on this regard. Also, there is no sense in having a 144Hz screen while you have a GTX1650 inside. The laptop does not get hot even if you try to force it. Anyway, thank you very much for the review and your answers. Subscribed
Awaiting the 5600h, 144hz version. You sold me on getting this! Just waiting for the courier to arrive. To be fair i cant be dissapointed with it, i was using a nvieia 630m laptop, this hp will do so much more.
Having now upgraded to 16 gb and added another SSD it truly is fantastic for the price, I am a little dissappointed in certain aspects of the build quality though, specifically that the plastic is soft, while opening the PC I warped an edge ever so slightly with a credit card, still it really is unbeatable.
@@HardwareSense more gb per dollar at the cost of performance of course, more cicles of write than a ssd and if failure data is somewhat recoverable, ssd pull ahead on speed, nothing else.
Hey Ivan i didnt catch this deal but today I bought the hp 16.1 with a 1660ti core i5 and 512ssd for $699 which is the same price as the laptop on your video now. Would have been nice to get it discounted black friday but couldnt find it.
I do want to say the one I bought is currently $200 off at best buy, much better option for the same price as the laptop on this video for anyone interested.
Would the mushkin 2x16 32gb kit you listed in your description work with this laptop. I can't afford crucials ram right now and the mushkin seems promising but I'm not sure it'll work. Thank you
@@HardwareSense how would the OKN wifi card hold up. I plan on keeping this laptop for a while since I'm in college and I'm planning on maxing it out so it'll perform as best as possible over the years. Thank you
Just got this laptop have you tried overclocking the GPU for extra performance? I'm thinking of going that route to lock 60fps when things get really hectic on screen and frames start to drop.
ok i commented on the upgrade video. i need to use devinchi on mine and I am adding a 16GB 3200 ram stick to my 8gb. but do i have to use a ssd or can i add a 2tb 5600rpm sata?
I would never use a slow spinning drive on a modern computer, especially for DaVinci, you will hate everything about it, DaVinci needs the fastest possible drive that you can get. As for the memory, not sure how the dual channel will work, better get 2x16 and replace the stock.
There is a very good discussion about the laptop AND replacing the screen panel with a brighter, IPS one here www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/k6ofoz/restocklaptop_hp_pavilion_156_gaming_laptop_amd/
Lol most of these people crying about the panel, for $450 what do they expect, that is a killer deal, there is nothing better for this price. But I am now interested in upgrading the screen.

For $450 it's incredible!
Just wondering, instead of adding an SSD, can u instead add a 2.5 HDD slim version
You can, but why would you? Its slower, more power consuming and its a moving part that is prone to fail on a shock.

@@HardwareSense how about sshd, seagate firecuda
@@izuchukwuA590 Not a fan of those, they are pointless. Just get an SSD.
Is the Mushkin better than the crucial rams as far as speed ?
Cheers
No difference
What is the cooling pad?
Hey man great video. Just bought this laptop and wondering if it could run cold of duty Cold War with low or medium settings.
Yeah I don't see why not, probably on medium you will get over 60fps

What's the laptop cooling pad you're using?
The cooling pad is Karolffu - amzn.to/37HEH0t - I am going to have a video comparison between several pads, but this one is the best so far.

Not a fan of HP, but I might have to check this out! :)
Do you have any issue with the cooling system? Because the Ryzen and Intel version have a different cooling system.
i have teh laptop with the ryzen cooling system. I dont have. my normal temps are 55 on CPU and 54 on GPU
Can you please show an egpu connection video for this laptop
Not going to happen, no Thunderbolt 3 on it. The only way could be with those Nvme adapters, but it won't be pretty.
is it ok if i use the crucial 8gb stick x1 with the one included with the laptop (samsung) they'r both 3200mhz ?
Yes it's fine
Not on sale anymore :)
Yes unfortunately, but I think it will go on sale again before the end of the year.
You think I could play rainbow six siege on this for another year of updates?
Just got this laptop have you tried overclocking the GPU for extra performance? I'm thinking of going that route to lock 60fps when things get really hectic on screen and frames start to drop.
Its not really worth it, you are going to gain 2-3 fps. And heat and noise will be a lot more.
I have this laptop and I plug it into an external 144hz monitor. I get 144 fps and it performs so much better
No doubt
Do you think this great deal come back again in 2021?
It could

Why is your CPU (Power/W) so low? I have the same laptop and they around 45 W (Package) and 54 W (Cores)
