You have a thoughtful way of difusing your stressors and managing general anxiety. When you recognize that you need to decompress you shift gears and allow yourself solitude. Well done.
3 months ago... I enjoyed your memory of being woken up late at night to look at the golden Gate Bridge... Also about you running around barefoot all the time as a kid, I did too.... And still do while at home. Glad you found some comfy shoes, such an important thing. Happy Friday, wherever you are now. Hope you're enjoying life!!! 🥀🤗🥀oops, I forgot I was going to tell you that you said you had a fantastic day, this day. 🥀🥸🥀
I love big cities, but places like San Francisco, I would park outside of the city and take Bart in. It's great to learn public transportation in new areas you go to.
Buddy as soon as I got into my late 40's I've been taking afternoon cat naps, they do wonders! also I as well can't stand driving in the cities especially Montreal it's just to risky.. my van is my everything. besides in Montreal just crossing the street is considered a martial art ! awesome you packed a full day into a 34 minute video. satisfying too watch, cheers!
I live in Santa Cruz and we all love hwy 1!! Had U gone on hwy 17 it would have pretty through a short distance and then it becomes all city freeway!! We allll love hwy 1. Weird that she insisted 17. When we want to get out and take time out, we choose hwy 1. You drove by Whaler's Cafe! They have the best coffee and make over 10 different homemade muffins. Coffee and Blueberry are zee best! Great video, Scott.
I really enjoy your video's and I love how you share your thoughts and feelings. I can relate with you so much when it comes to big cities although they have there own beauty. This world has changed so much and it seems one must always be on guard for safety, when we really should just be "observing" beauty all around us. Can't wait to see more!...peace!
Hey Scott, welcome to Petaluma! I love it here. Very friendly town and close to the ocean and the City as you know. I’ve lived in Petaluma for about 13 years and have shopped at that Target 🎯 more than I care to admit lol. Safe travels in Sonoma County. Be sure and check out Armstrong Redwoods near Guerneville.
Hi Scott, thank you for coming by the pop-up event and sharing your experience! If you're looking for a black pair of Wildling shoes we highly suggest going with the featherweight Tanuki Yoru - and who knows: you might want to wear them on the trail, too. 😁🧡
Hey, it was great to be able to make it out to your pop-up. Yes, after talking to Adelina, I think you're correct, the Tanuki appears to be the perfect shoe that I've been looking for. Will be talking more about Wildling Shoes in the near future here on my channel.
Welcome back to the bay. October is our Indian summer in San Francisco and the best time to visit if you prefer warm weather; it's the warmest time of year and a great time for lounging at the beach.
Ordered your Serrano Yellowbird 😃 I told my husband we’re going to have to start having egg burritos 🤣 He was listening to your video and he said “it’s the coffee guy.” Lol
Yes, I remember that light house ... and that wind lol ... My Chevy Blazer had radiator problems (turned out to be the thermostat) ... and I made the mistake of trying to raise my hood in that wind. ... The wind ripped the hinge of my hood off, and I was flyin' - holding on to it ... but I got it down ... I had forgot about that episode ... thanks for the reminder ... lol ... that 101 route is very nice, especially after all these rains ... but when your engine & trans are fixed it's worth it to take that route 17. It's enchanting ... like gnomes would be popping out between redwoods that go up forever ... it's like time stops ... I'll never forget route 17 ... just chatting during the commercial break ... I'll be back 😺💜
Great video Static. Wow, I never thought we'd be in for. A San Francisco video in 2023. This video has made my week. I'll explain by email what the significance of all these places is! Safe driving.
If you get north of SF, my favorite place to explore is Bodega Bay, CA in Sonoma County. It’s where the Hitchcock film ‘The Birds’ was filmed and the old Gothic schoolhouse is still there. Also Petaluma nearby has the best bakery ever!
💜 Wow, that was beautiful. Your drive was beautiful. Your stop at the lighthouse was beautiful and now, I can say I rode over the Golden Gate Bridge. That was lovely! When you were down in the city, I can understand how that was a bit overwhelming it was overwhelming me just being there with you very very loud sounded like they were working on some stuff down there. You probably tolerated it better than I could have. Another great part of your journey that you shared with us so thank you so very much. So very pretty…
As an ocean guy myself, you definitely went the best way north on 1 instead of 17. Glad the van didn’t get broken into there on Fell St. The youngsters call it bipping and it’s definitely a thing here. The area where that open market is used to be an elevated freeway that was partially demolished after the ‘89 earthquake, that’s why there is the odd mix of oddly shaped new and old buildings and open spaces, in case you noticed. Continued safe travels Scott!
I am inspired to look at houses in my old neighborhoods. Goodness, Crescent City is mentioned as a tsunami spot. I survived the 1964 tsunami which washed over our house. After which we moved to Anchorage, the scene of the earthquake. Awwww, memories.
Thanks for the video. The place at the lighthouse looks really beautiful and SF looks pretty too. I look forward to hearing your experiences with the new shoes. Stay safe and have a nice week to come.
Ahhh, greatest memories. Ioved going barefoot as well, even running on the alleys filled with pebbles n small tiny rocks. Such relaxing close contact with Nature's healing. What a beautiful way to end your trip there in a more memorable way. Nope, not silly, but hood ole gut instinct.
"Now let's go make some coffee.." Word's to live by! The coffee I make in my minivan is so basic. I'm going to have to up my coffee game. 🙂 Another good one!
Next time you go that way you'll have to stop at Duarte's Tavern in Pescadero. Its a funky old place with great food, especially the artichoke soup and cioppino. Highway 1 is the way to go to SF but Devil's Slide can be scary unless they fixed that part. My grandfather worked on that bridge, one of the original crew of painters. Many bridges only charge toll one way. BTW I learned how to drive a stick shift on those SF hills!
What a Sweet Journey from The Lighthouse and all the way through. I remember so fondly a Seagull in Manistee County with the Lighthouse there within view. Had ordered some take - out pizzas and with other items went to a park there by the shores. Dear little Seagull who so enJOYed some pizza with me. On one of my videos titled ..Kindness.. there the Seagull may be found with the Lighthouse in the background of the photo. Pigeon Point, a name to remember and too, a cousin of Doves and Seagulls. 🌿🌅🐦🌊 Blessings 🌊🐦🌅🌿
I get the big city thing. I moved to a small town 12 years ago and now venturing into the city stresses me out -- it is fun for about 10 minutes and then I am over it! Beautiful lighthouse area.
Whoa, San Francisco was noisy. Made me shake inside. I have been there a couple of times many, many years ago. Maybe Santa Cruz would be more enjoyable, but wait, don't go to Santa Cruz, ha! Good to see you Scott!
Aww. Looks like you missed the Land's End and nearby areas on your way through the area. Would have been barely out of your way and some spectacular views. Big break-in risks, though....
@@violetatcontentboutique7188 No, I'm referring to the park areas in the NW corner of San Francisco, Lands End (also Fort Miley, the Legion of Honors and Baker Beach) that have really spectacular views of the ocean, Bay and Bay Bridge. Definitely worth driving through those areas if you're nearby and stopping to enjoy. I would not recommend leaving a vehicle containing valuables parked in those areas, though. There are a lot of break-ins. But you can enjoy all the views and just stay near your vehicle. There are other places that are also called lands end, maybe one of those is what you're referring to.
Love seeing your adventures around USA...🤍❤💙. ...with added humour 😊 I drove from Spokane to Orlando (including a day in Mexico) back in '94. I went to that lighthouse years ago and loved it so much. The PCH is lovely, as is 17, but I'm with you, the PCH is my favorite route to San Francisco.
Listen Scott, as your older truck driver viewer, I can give support to your getting older claim of your lack of tolerance for big city driving. I for one "get it" man! My nerves are fried! As I have got much older, the anxiety i experience anymore in those situations is really difficult and hard on me. So umm, age I agree from my standpoint plays a significant role. Just my two cents. 👍😉😃
Drove through San Francisco two years ago on the way back from a camping trip. Totally frazzelled, even though I've been driving to the city for over 40 years ... Swore I'd never go back.
I could only find Yellowbird at REI in small quantities for high prices. I was so happy to find it finally at my favorite supermarket in Colorado. Glad you are getting commissions from the company. You deserve it! I love the Habanero version.
Wow, that was a lot of driving for you in a day. I remember you said before you don’t usually drive much. You deserved a good rest after that. Wonderful video again, as always.
It’s always great getting back to a location that stocks your favorite coffee after traveling for a while. Makes you appreciate it more. I just was able to get my hands on some of my favorite beans after traveling in other locations for a while. Moab Coffee roasters in Utah, they have a great light roast called ‘ arches’. Great video, enjoy your trip north. I’m slowly making my way to Oregon for the summer.
Yes, SC is very calming and relaxing, almost like your away on vacation. Highway one would be the most scenic and if you have the time then why not, but I always just drive thru SF. Okay, the egg capitol of N. Calif., Petaluma, also home of the microbrewery Lagunitas. Take care and travel on !!
I’m from W. Covina too and walked around barefoot until I stepped on a piece of glass taking the trash out. Hey..I was a kid and wasn’t too smart. But that learned me.
Very much enjoyed your video of your visit through my neighborhood! It is way intense here, the neighborhood I’m in is unbelievable! If it’s not too late, make sure and research and consider visiting point Reyes national seashore! I live in San Francisco and try to get up that way on a semi-regular! It is gorgeous and make sure if you go, you go all the way out to the lighthouse! It’s a long drive, and will likely be windy and cold, but the beauty of the area will not disappoint and it is a world class experience!
Thanks for showing us the lighthouse i have an obsession with them I even have a working model lighthouse in my Van lol. Those shoes looked amazing Scott can't wait for you to review them on your Chanel soon..oh and I never go into large towns in my Van I hate them like you. Really enjoyed the video thanks.
FYI: I happened upon Yellow Bird products at Market of choice. Although, I would like to support you next time I'm in the need of some.😉😁 If your ever in the central Oregon area, I would live to buy you a bottle. 😂
Words I didn’t hear you willingly say- I’m heading into San Francisco. Don’t worry about your talking about Yellowbird, we know of your appreciation and I’ve started to see it in more stores and think “Oh Scott’s Yellowbird.
How cool that you found a place to try on some Wildings. I've had my eye on them for a year or so, but haven't tried them yet. I wear Lem's Primal 2 for pretty much everything. Looking forward to your assessment when you get the color you want.
I’d also like to hear more from “Lem” users. The Xero brand is supposed to be very durable. I’d like more reviews of them. I usually wear Converse high tops series 70. Cheap. Comfy. Long lasting.
I recently went there for the first time in January and OMG...I was SOOO overwhelmed w/the traffic and that city. The city itself is unique and beautiful, love the Golden Gate and the way the city looks but that traffic was unbelievable...I have NEVER experienced traffic like that and I live in Phoenix,az and have been to LA...it was nuts. After 2 days I was out!
In 71 I was on vacation with Mom, and Dad visiting my older brother Dan in Vallejo. Dan spent a couple of years out there... and there are too many stories. The one that stands out for me is how his 52 International Travelall had wiring problems in the firewall (I spent the whole time there holding a flashlight), and he would start it by letting out the clutch while rolling down the alleyway out back. . Anyway, when the truck was reliable to drive he drove us all around the Bay area, and we all had dinner in at a place called "the old spaghetti factory." Thanks for this video, and thanks to the folks commenting.
Was totally surprised with all ur roaming around in California that u had never been to Santa Cruz before. June through Sept can be pretty crowded there, best time is after Sept. See ya down the road.
I am in Tampa FL.and I would like to try the Yellow Bird.your dinner you made I also make it. I think The Yellow Bird would taste good in my black beans and corn tossed with taco seasoning.
I think u said over the golden gate bridge San Francisco CA i lived there so long i wish i sometimes i was still there . I have Lin people on Powell st. I use to live on Pacific Ave up the hill long as i lived there never went to the haunted House. I wonder how it is now to ride the bus on Geary st to the beach
All the bridges have a free direction which is always leaving the city. I do drive a dairy bobtail in the City and I agree that there is too much activity during normal daytime hours. Although the night has its issues, it is much easier to get my work done.
You have a thoughtful way of difusing your stressors and managing general anxiety. When you recognize that you need to decompress you shift gears and allow yourself solitude. Well done.

I walked across the bridge back in the 90s loved the city back then Scott X
Petaluma is a great little town! I hope you made it up highway 1 and through Bodega and Jenner. Well worth the drive
You are growing on me. Grateful for the west coast videos where I’m from. Sending you love If you come to the Portland area you have friends.
My main memory of the Golden Gate is when I rode a bicycle over it, that was exciting!
Now that would be exciting!
Thanks for the video. The place at the lighthouse looks really beautiful and SF looks pretty too. I look forward to hearing your experiences with the new shoes. Stay safe and have a nice week to come.
Watching from Sweden 🇸🇪. Found your channel when I needed some information and inspiration on living vanlife. Just bought my first campervan 🎉.
Congrats on your new van!
The bridge ride was overwhelming and I'm watching it on a video.
It was actually a very pleasant drive. Except for the people who were very clearly speeding
Shoe shopping is usually stressful for me because my feet have become so very picky..... I've missed seeing videos from you...good to see you 👍...Mary

Devil’s Slide might be scary in an earthquake but it was ok when I drove through.
How about the pie!!
Devil’s Slide is now a walking/biking trail. The roadway was moved inland through the Tom Lantos Tunnels.

It always amazes me how much you pack into your van
The TARDIS has lots of room. More than would appear from the outside

FYI: I happened upon Yellow Bird products at Market of choice. Although, I would like to support you next time I'm in the need of some.😉😁 If your ever in the central Oregon area, I would live to buy you a bottle. 😂
That’s nice of you Bill.
Words I didn’t hear you willingly say- I’m heading into San Francisco. Don’t worry about your talking about Yellowbird, we know of your appreciation and I’ve started to see it in more stores and think “Oh Scott’s Yellowbird.
Haha, Scott’s Yellowbird!
How cool that you found a place to try on some Wildings. I've had my eye on them for a year or so, but haven't tried them yet. I wear Lem's Primal 2 for pretty much everything. Looking forward to your assessment when you get the color you want.
I’ve heard good things about Lems
I’d also like to hear more from “Lem” users. The Xero brand is supposed to be very durable. I’d like more reviews of them. I usually wear Converse high tops series 70. Cheap. Comfy. Long lasting.
im on east coast ny nj pa area where everyhing is in a hurry your videos give me relaxing vibe
Hey Thanks. Hope you have a pleasant evening Kamil
Ah yellow bird…good stuff
Carmel is lovely Scott if you back that way x
New England cofee is the best coffee ☕ , you should try it
If I ever get to New England, I’ll give it a try
@@StaticCamperVan ok 😆 🤣
Awesome video
I’ve been to Santa Cruz but not since I was a teenager. This was my first vanlife trip
I am in Tampa FL.and I would like to try the Yellow Bird.your dinner you made I also make it. I think The Yellow Bird would taste good in my black beans and corn tossed with taco seasoning.
Shoe's that don't make your feet feel like they're in prison for the win! 🎉
