In California they expect you to have a good 50k in the bank just to cover what the state considers 3 months of living costs and covering any expenses of running your business. So the start up is quite a bit in California and the regulations are pretty ridiculous.

Not all assisted living homes 🏠 are good. I removed my dad from the first one. The caregiver employee told me move him to a new house. The RN owner was force feeding a resident. The employee walked in and saw her. She advised the wife to take her husband (resident) to the hospital. Turns out he had food in his lungs and had Two weeks to live. The 2nd home I had my dad in did position my dad properly. The Kaiser didn’t notify me that he had a bedsore almost to the bone. And she saw him weekly. So I brought him home to care for him. He was a double amputee bedridden diabetic w/dementia. I healed up his bedsore. Changed diapers every three hours. Took care of my hubby and son. I was in my late 50’s and disabled. I completely a CNA course when I was 27. Never worked in the field. Hardest thing I ever did. Harder than being a foster parent. God bless you.

Do you take care of dementia patients? Do you notice an issue with the bath tub and your residents? We are starting a home and are wondering if we should convert the tub to a walk-in shower (we will be offering care to dementia patients). Any advice - thanks!
Yes I do. I haven't notice any issues with the bathtub and my residents. We do use a shower chair that is made for the bathtub that they can easily transfer from. Having a walk-in shower does make it a lot more convenient for you residents and staff.
Any zoning issues running a business out of a residential neighborhood? Also, how would it affect this situation if all of the bedrooms were on the 2nd floor? Thanks, I'm interested in doing this in Texas.
None. Just have to make sure that the city clears you on the zoning. You just have to make sure that the neighborhood isn’t a HOA, because that could play a factor down the road. The question would be, how would you get your residents up there? You want to have the bedrooms on ground floor. Also, having the bedrooms on the second floor could raise increase the risk of higher liability as well.
@@serg_lupescu I understand. We own a 4k sqft home free and clear. 5 beds upstairs 1 master down. Looking into selling it but considered this route if it's possible. Rent minus taxes/repairs not worth keeping it considering we can make more on a small condo with Air BnB.
Questions I noticed the door knobs are not lever style which I thought was ADA requirement?? Is that not the case? Also the doorways don't look wide enough to accomodate any type of walker or chair, is that also not a requirement?? Where did you research the regulations and requirements to set up the house correctly and what City State are you operating in? Will this work in CA?
Each state and city ordinance will have different requirements and regulations. Therefore, it'll be different in CA and if you watched the video I mention where I am operating in. Hopefully this helps! God bless.

Hi, how did you get the funding to start your business? What is the range of money you need to invest in getting into this? Do you plan to have another house with consumers?
Personal loan. You’ll want anywhere from $50k-200k depending on which route you decide to take and how you get your business started. Yes, I do plan on opening another home.
I only have two beds in the master bedroom. Due to zoning and department health services your rooms need to be 120 sqft in order to have two beds in them.
Great video man. I am getting ready to start mine in a couple of months. There is so much that goes into this. The state is strict with the homes here. This business doesnt even cost as much a some people my think as long as it's done right. I wonder how many staff do you need for a home that size?
Appreciate that and the feedback! That's great to hear. It's all exciting in the beginning just like anything else. They're strict everywhere but you just have just make sure you're in compliance with it all and you'll be fine. I agree, it's not much but people overthink a lot when it comes to getting started. Well, the ratio is 2:10 but you just need one caregiver to a home of 5-7 residents. A real good caregiver can definitely hand 5 residents.
Hi Serg, does the bedroom and bathroom doors need to be 36 inches wide? I'm just in the process of buying a house and thinking if we need to change the doors. Thanks in advance!
Of course. You may want to start out getting your Caregiver certification and working in a care home to get the experience to be able to get your manager's your certificate to be able to learn more regarding how to run a care home. I don't know the state that you're in so therefore it's hard for me to give you any specific schools and how much they're going to charge. Hopefully this helps!

Serg Lupescu when do you plan on making that video. I currently have a assisted living residence + club house (where people can come for the day, like a day care but for seniors) have you ever tried that combo?
That makes it harder. You having self belief is all you need! But, yes hiring a consultant is actually smart! As long as their a reputable consultant 😊
Hey man, great content. So is it 50-60 k to get started from scratch or when buying an already running ALF. Also is there a ballpark of net income you make every month after all costs are taken care of? Thanks
Thanks. I appreciate the support! Yeah, to start a 5-6 bed facility depending on where you’re located and if you’re going to be leasing the property, it’ll cost between $50-60k. You’ll net between 20%-30% of gross income every month. Hope this helps!

Serg Lupescu Is
How do I start I have 2 houses ? Do I need to go to training or classes ?
Thanks
You’re welcome!
God bless.
What kind of residents do you house?
Supervisory, personal and directed level residents. Level 1,2 and 3.
I’ve been a cna for five years and got my three years of care giving certification I’m now getting my ALM cert I’m super nervous to open a care home but what is one huge advice you could give to get started I live in Tucson Az and it seems like there’s so much to do but I could be wrong
Thank you for the support and commenting!
My biggest advice is to just start, and not overthink the process.
Hi Rose I am a Registered Nurse who owns a successful Assisted Living business in the state of Maryland. Follow me on IG at valerie.bell3367. I will be coming out with a class very soon regarding assisted living business set up that you more than likely can benefit from. Stay Tuned.
Your presentations are very informative! Are you using a manual MAR (medication administration record) or electronic?
I’m currently using Manuel but moving over to electronic.
Hey Serg do you have a step-by-step process on setting up your home? Did you have to write a grant to get the money for this home?
Hey Niesha, I do have a step by step process to set up your home I’ll link it down below for you. Also, I have a mentorship program along with the documentation package to operate your home as well. I did not get a grant to start my carehome.

Do you have two beds to a room or one bed. What age do you serve?
It’s highly recommended that you do 36” doorways. It does make it way easier for the wheelchairs to get in and out.
@@serg_lupescu But regarding the inspection, would they require us to change the doors to 36"? Thanks man!
Looks nice!
Appreciate the feedback!
Serg can you please tell what kind of certifications do I need and what school you recommend to do this home care service and how much is it thank you
Do you take Medicaid patients or only private?
Private pay only.
Hi question is there a reason you only do private pay clients ?
How many clients do you have in that house
5
Hey man. I’ll pay you to teach me. I’ll even fly out to meet you. I’m a realtor in atl and the need for this here is crazy. My business owns a 24 bed that is a commercial building. That makes $50k a month but I’m 25 and have like $80k cash I could put into somethings (can get a loan for about $500k - $300k business loan)
Hey! I’m from Atl and definitely agree with you. If your willing to converse with me just to brainstorm I would love that. Thinking about opening up my own assisted living
Hey,incase Yu need an employee,I'm a nurse
Great Video
Thank you!
Yep it's a hard business
Love your video. Can you please help me with forms?
Where are you located?
Where did u get the private room stickers?
Can u upload content on becoming an LLC?
Thanks in Advance
Got them from Home Depot. I’ll eventually cover that topic, but my recommendation is to talk to a professional about setting up your LLC.
Thank you fore the info please! Can you give me your contact
What software do you recommend to run your assisted living facility?
That’s a great question! I’ll be making video of the software that I use to run my assisted living. Make sure to stay tuned for that video when it comes out!
Serg Lupescu when do you plan on making that video. I currently have a assisted living residence + club house (where people can come for the day, like a day care but for seniors) have you ever tried that combo?
Here in the upcoming weeks. No, I haven’t tried that combo out. Is it working out for you?
I am in the thinking about it process ,having self doubt ,hubby not supportive .Serge you think it's a good idea to hire a consultant
That makes it harder. You having self belief is all you need! But, yes hiring a consultant is actually smart! As long as their a reputable consultant 😊
What state are you located?
Arizona
Hey man, great content. So is it 50-60 k to get started from scratch or when buying an already running ALF. Also is there a ballpark of net income you make every month after all costs are taken care of? Thanks
Thanks. I appreciate the support! Yeah, to start a 5-6 bed facility depending on where you’re located and if you’re going to be leasing the property, it’ll cost between $50-60k. You’ll net between 20%-30% of gross income every month. Hope this helps!
What are you looking at per bed in a shared room facility in AZ?
@@gauravkhanal6122 $3,000/bed
@@serg_lupescu Hey man I also live in AZ and was planning on renting to start. Do you think its a better idea to buy since you will have more control of the home? It seems like its hard to convince a landlord to allow you to do it also.
