So motivated.. I have been watching you since I started the process for DDS license 2021…I got licensed May 2023… it’s been so challenging but God just blessed me in Dec 2023 with my first client… I’m grateful that I’m working in my own group home and pray to fill my home before in the next 6 months this 2024 🎉 I am also planning to start a biz channel on how to get started with a group home in VA, how I managed to get the license🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Hi Serg, just curious, what happens to this facility while awaiting licensing approval, I read somewhere that facility search should not come first. How do you get approval without the actual address of the home? Also, what state department is in charge of licensing?
I am areal estate investor in VA area and I m planning to start leasing my property to someone planning to expand his business in a nice area around northern VA. All my houses are single homes with 4 and 5 bedrooms and new builds.
Hi Serg! I own a home on a 5 acre lot in a farming community. We built an extension separate to our home a couple years ago, it has 4 small bedrooms, big wheelchair accessible bathroom, laundry room, medium size living room, kitchen and private back porch. I work as a CNA and was thinking I could convert it into a small assisted living home. I live in Utah and wanted to know if you think that it would be a good investment?
I think that would be a phenomenal investment, purely from the perspective of a potential resident. You know, as a CNA, what the residents appreciate. I mean, just imagine them waking to see their rural peaceful setting. That alone might be priceless for them. If I can help in any way let me know.
I’ve been wondering. If we really had a housing market crash, and or recession, would it have any affect on starting our residential assisted living facility? I’m thinking this is a “need” based industry like a hospital. No matter what happens in the world or in our economy, we’ll always need these businesses. What are your thoughts.
I was thinking the same thing. If they slash govt spending. Would that include housing for senior citizens.. 🤔 It's not cheaper to put senior in nursing homes compare to ALF
That’s a loaded questions because it depends the extent of the renovations you will be required to do. But if you factor the cost of renovations out, and you just do holding costs, soft opening, and getting the start up going, between $100-150k.
Great information! I dont have a property yet and planning to get one within this year for assisted living business. Is there anything I can do or classes I can take while im working on getting my own property?
Thanks! I appreciate the support. I would suggest going and getting your administrator/manager license. Start studying up on the rules and regs for your state. Work on networking with other RAL owner/operators in your area. Also, make sure to check our legionassistedlivingacademy.com and joining the course there along with the other resources I provide.
Hi Serg, Great info as always! Before you start a RAL business, one has to understand the business 💯 I also purchase your course, loving it! In addition to the documents pacakge. 6 months to 12 months is a realistic time. Do you have any favorite RAL/Administrator books 📚 you found helpful? Thx 😊
Same. Also, IL isn't doing the free qualifying classes at this time unfortunately. I'd like to partner with like-minded individuals in IL. Let me know ok!
Is this state specific? I'm in TX, just outside Houston. My husband and I own the house across the street and are thinking of turning it into a 3bd ALF ... just starting this process. Do I need to find someone in my area to learn how this works?
Yes it is state specific. I know that TX now has a great system in place when it comes to licensing. A 3 bed ALF is really hard to actually make profitable. I would suggest getting something bigger than that.
The consultant I hired to help me get this license I will recommend him 💯 to anyone in VA. He is really an expert in what he does👌it’s been a lot of spending to me but the outcome will soon pay out… you have to be patient in this biz, strong 💪 emotionally and have a mindset of rather you make it or loose it 😂 most scary part 😅

It takes 2 years to get licensed?
I'm asking the same question as above.

That was after Covid but now is less than 6 months depending on how good your consultant is good in submitting the right paperwork.
Hi, are you in need of a QA (Quality Assurance) for your business? I would like to apply
Thanks, Serg. I've been watching your videos for years here and there. I want 2024 to be the year I commit to starting an ALF.
You’re welcome! Thank you for the continuous support. 2024 is the year that you’ll start! Look forward to hearing about your success

5 minutes into the video & I'm still trying to watch for what I have to actually do...

How much funding would I need? Estimate, in California. With renovations, opening, and sustaining the first few months?

Great question. This doesn’t work for an apartment
Hi Serg, I've been wondering at what point do you start hiring a manager? With the inflammation, how much funds would be ideal to start a RAL?
Btw, I just purchased your course and I'm loving it.
Thank you!
