Quick correction, photo for the submariner used in this was incorrect showing the older reference. Sorry for the miss on that. I think in the 2019 video I said that it was the craziest year of my life. Well given what has happened in 2020 that take aged worse than milk in direct sunlight. Anyways, thanks to all of you that watched this year and for the continued support. A couple watches that I would have thrown into this video was the recent silver snoopy. I finished that video after this one so I didn’t include it as well as the new Formex essence 39 which I would swap for the reef for my personal taste. What was your favorite watch of 2020?

Got the Tissot Gentleman as a knock about everyday piece. Still blown away by that ETA movement. Accuracy is phenomenal as is the power reserve. At the price you can’t go wrong. Classy and nicely finished. The mechanics every bit as good as the 3235 new gen Rolex movement I’ve got in my DJ41 but at a fraction of the price. Guys ETA have got this one nailed. Nice Swiss piece.

I agree with your choices of Grand Seiko, Tudor & Omega. My favourite watch of this year which was released at the end of 2019 was the Orient Star Sports Outdoor in Green. I call it the Orient Mountaineer as apposed to the Seiko Alpinist and Rolex Explorer. Orient Star is the Grand Seiko of Orient. This Mountaineer is way cheaper than an Explorer and way better than an Alpinist. I tried the Alpinist on and the dial real estate was way too small for me. This Mountaineer has a beautiful Green dial, cream patina markings, good lume, 50 hour power reserve indicator, black PVD case polished and brushed, good quality mocha brown leather strap, diamond style screwdown and signed crown, see through caseback with nice perlage and gold touches and all for around $630 USD. I was so impressed at the quality and value I bought it and couldn't be happier! 😊 The Mountaineer is a true field watch that does to the Alpinist what the Kamasu did to the SKX. Great video, please do a review of this Orient Mountaineer as you will not be disappointed!

    Great video, Teddy!
For me the watches that jump out at me were the:
    1. Tudor BB58 - I like both but somehow lean towards the black dial variant with those gilt details. This is the first watch that has made me think of selling my Omega Seamaster PO 42mm that I’ve had for 10 years.
    2. Hamilton Intramatic Chronograph- great execution of the panda dial.
    3. Maybe I’m growing up, but the JLC chronograph is gorgeous as is the Reverso you showed here! The Reverso feels like the kind of watch that if worn, people will just assume you know what you are doing and on top of your game. I like these much better than a Rolex submariner!

Adding the BB58 Blue AND the Oris Roberto Clemente (which my friend and watch buddy also purchased at the same time, 0069/3000 and 1969/300 - 69 DUDES!) made 2020 a kick-ass year. Not to mention your casual G-shocks, a bronze Aquatico Sea Star, and I was just that close to pulling the trigger on a Zenith Defy Classic skeleton. Way to set the table for 2021. And Teddy, great work, you're, in my opinion, becoming a strong reference in the Watch World. Cheers!

I love your end of year wrap ups and I have learned SO much since last years best of 2019. The two JLCs and the Habring are truly things I covet. The Clemente is something I must get somewhat soon considering my true love of baseball...being such an important thing in my life. it's also nice that it has to be the best looking Pointer Date of theirs. and of course the Defy had me ( and quite a few of the other guys drooling. It was one of my favorite episodes. along of course with the Ball and the Rado, the Seamaster 300... It's been such a tough year, but you along with a couple of other guys, really helped us watch enthusiasts make it through. Wishing you all the best with your new venture as an AD. A big thank you Teddy.

I did pick up 2 new for 2020 watches this year: Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium which is very, very nice and a perfect every day watch; additionally last week I scored an SPB143 out of sheer luck and really like it. Good to see some recognition for the Zenith Defy Classic too. My two watches of the year are the Habring2 Felix Chrono (both copper and panda) and one you didn't cover, the Longines Spirit. Since you bring up the Railmaster (standard, not the 57), one is on my wrist now as I type this. It was my major watch purchase for the year. Love it. Highly underrated, to the point where not only does any Omega AD have them in stock but they are discounted. I got 20% off.
One thing about it - it is heavy. I think it's as heavy as my Seiko Samurai. Took me a few days to get used to how heavy it is for a 40mm steel watch. I think the bracelet being so solid is part of the reason for the weight.

The more I watch your channel, the more I think I need a Reverso. Damnit. Favorite watch release of the year - price whinging aside - was the Seiko SPB199J1. I managed to track down a new one at retail here in the US and it is excellent. My daily prior to the Seiko was an Oris BCPD in bronze, but the Seiko is a touch more wearable with the stainless case. I know some are upset with the price on this piece, but the dial is gorgeous and the two straps it ships with are top notch.

The modern submariner is UGLY. The black bay line is infinitely more pleasing, to my eyes.
Absolutely love the Defy Classic and am tracking used ones on Chrono24 for sure. Agree with the Tissot Gentleman as a best of - I have had this for about 6 months now, and between it and my BB36, they are all I wear anymore. The blue dial gentleman on a good black suede strap is just incredible, such a value.

mate, love your selections. That reverso and the zenith are spectacular - love the hamilton, oris and seiko are stunning too!!! To rise to your challenge of best watch I have bought this year - snuck into your underwhelmed list ha ha but I got the Sub and love it - it's the Kermit/Cermit/Starbuck which I think you offered some slack - but it rocks my world!!! Great video as ever!!

Another comprehensive and informative video teddy. I'll have to make a tough decision between the grand seiko sbga and tudor black bay. Also, being from Pittsburgh, I wasn't aware of the Roberto clemente oris!

Wonderful and positive spin on an otherwise very challenging year. And awesome list of Rolex - alternatives as well as microbrand watches. Thank you.

Sometimes I hate having big wrists. Even 40mm watches looking small on me. My Vostok looks small coming in at 40mm. I honestly prefer 43 - 44mm, and that's not oversized for me. It really cuts down on my options.

I bought two pieces in 2020, a Seiko SRPE63 (blue dial) and the Oris Roberto Clemente Big Crown Pointer Date. Maybe for the benefit of my wallet, I should refrain from clicking on your videos because currently I have my eye squarely on the Grand Seiko SBGA415 (Winter). You are certainly a bad influence, LOL! Still, I greatly appreciate the hard work and the excellent coverage you give these pieces. Your professionalism is exemplary.

The more and more I see Oris the more I appreciate what they’re doing, the Aquis is amazing and they’re an independent Swiss made watch. Omega is the realm I’m looking to get into next speedmaster or seamaster but for what you get with the Oris Aquis and the styles they come in are hard to beat for their price range. Also the dial on the GS snowflake..

Always refreshing to see your choices and hear your thoughts on watches. Yes Rolex make great products that many customers really want to own. However if you are buying either on a budget, a keeper for a modest collection and understand these will mostly but not all fall in value unlike a Rolex.
These super interesting and great looking timepieces you presented are well worth being highlighted.
    Thank you.
    Merry Christmas Teddy.
