Just want to really emphasise this is a very well made video. Teddy (and his team) took the time to have a shot for nearly every thing he discussed, which was often a different watch. Filming watches is hard so let's recognise this amazing effort and brilliant video-making. We saw 26 minutes but believe me when I say this must have taken 30+ hours to film and edit.

@@kaisoerfjord6794 I believe you are too hard on Teddy. I have learned a lot about watches from him--such as the watch terms mentioned in this video. I understand he is a dealer. He is taking the high road of educating the customer rather than the lower road of using high-pressure sales techniques. Why would he invest the time, expense and effort to make these videos if he didn't feel it was in his enlightened self-interest? I notice he brings together other watch experts and often discusses watch brands he doesn't sell. As with any source, we evaluate him and his information. In my opinion, he rates high marks as a source and his information is not only truthful but helpful to those like myself who want to learn more about watches.

Welcome to the hobby! I'm a few months in and I found an older (June 2018) video Teddy did titled "Stop buying so many affordable watches" really helpful. His theme was the tempation to buy a number of watches in what is called the "affordable" range can get in the way of saving up for a more expensive watch you may really want that costs more. For me, that is the hardest part - the balance between "scratching the itch" and holding out for the more expensive watch you may really want. The terms "affordable" and "expensive" are, of course, subjective and only relevant in terms of your budget, etc. What matters is getting what you enjoy.

Great job putting together a comprehensive watch terminology video. You covered a lot of ground in 26 minutes and I think the pacing was great.
One note about the tachymeter scale on a chronograph that many do not realize - it is useful for things other than determining the speed of a moving object. Another great use for it is in estimating how long a repetitive task will take.
Say you work in manufacturing and the job of one worker is to assemble a specific part onto a widget. You want to know how many of these the person can do in an hour. If you use the chronograph to time how long it takes the person to assemble the part onto one widget, then the tachymeter scale will tell you how many they will do in an hour.
With this information you can now estimate how many the worker would be able to do in an 8 hour shift. You could also estimate how long it would take them to do a certain number of them if the job was to deliver a specific quantity.

You are a true watch enthusiast, who covers all price brackets of the industry (thus showcasing that watches do not have to be an elitists’ hobby) all types of watches and is passionate enough to spend the time and explain all the “less marketable” aspects of the industry - this video being a clear testament to that.
I would also really like to hear your opinion about watch brands - not so much about hearing how everyone is doing an excellent job, but rather a well balanced critique about strengths, weaknesses, approach etc. for similar price brackets I.e. Omega vs Rolex vs IWC vs Breitling vs JLC etc for under €7,000. Who do you think offers the best product, what would you spend your money on etc.

Great comprehensive video. A couple of things I noticed that could also be here: some watches have a 4th hand showing the week of the year. There’s a 1-52 scale usually at the outer edge of the dial. Also the numerals, hour markers, logo etc. can be either printed or applied. Most watches are also have luminova applied to their hands and/or markers.

You are a DEALER, Teddy, NOT a reviewer; you ARE not because you CANNOT BE one, because that requires a minimum of objectivity, WHICH requires absencence of conflict of interest, WHICH you pretend not to understand much about. It makes it a disgusting thing, ethically, what you are involved in.

What an incredible resource. Nicely done. The only thing I can think of to add would have been defining what makes a 'chronometer' (COSC) and 'regulating' a watch and how that is measured typically in +/- 'spd'.

I would like to add that tachymeter is quite useful when you estimate production or other capacities. E.g. 15 second cycle time means 250 cycles/hour.

I'd appreciated if you can do a video on straps, bracelet, clasps and buckles types/terms and their differences, I just don't really understand when people start talking about endmill, solid end links, push-button deployant, tang buckle etc....

Great video. I'm a watchmaker, and the only thing I could think to add was that we generally call the case of the watch (the part with the lugs that holds everything) the middle case. I don't know why. I mean, you could say the bezel is the upper and caseback is the lower, so the big chunk with the lugs is the middle. Usually when we refer to a case, we're talking about all 3 parts together.
