    Thank you for your open honesty! ❤ Sometimes it feels like it "should" be perfect because these brands are well known, rather than because they actually do add beauty and creativity to our lives. Thanks for the realness.

      I agree and I have one on the way. It looks so elegant and not snazzy or flashy ( why I’m not into the Benu pens). I didn’t want too much green on mine so if I get one with lots of green, I might do you a swap Tiff! I love that yours looks like tiger’s eye type. So classy

    Hey Tiff! That silence when you looked closer at the body was so accurate of an impression on the crap shoots of these custom resin pours. The likelihood of one you don’t like is very high when it’s a resin that’s has colors you don’t want to overpower the others. And those are pretty rare. That’s why two colors that mix well together are the resins I try to shoot for but if there’s more than 2 colors, I’ll usually ask the retailers through email ahead of time. If they fk up!!! And give me a bad one, I have no remorse for emailing them that I want a full refund XD they make more than enough money for you to be worrying about feeling like you’re being petty about your choice. It’s your collection, not anyone else’s! :) someone else may love your pen, and while your pen friend’s opinions are valued and respected, this is your pen, so you decide if you like it or not. Do not be afraid to get a full refund :) some pens aren’t meant to be. I’m at the point in my collecting journey that if you as a seller did not respect my choices and my requests to the best of your ability, you’re giving me a full refund. 😅 there will be a more beautiful brown or tealy Leonardo this year for you 🥰

      Thank you for saying that! I don’t like my galattica and I wish I would have asked them to switch my order to the Nona. 🥹 Next time, I’ll speak up.

    • @KenchanKrafts
      @KenchanKrafts 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@kitgenz1114 Did you get the universe or the nebula first? I knew the nebula one would be very random and can be quite bad, but I think the Nona one is probably the most reserved of the three galattica pens. Yeah, don't be shy to tell them you don't love it and want to return it :) Just be sure you don't ink up any of these custom resin pens until you know you love it. That way you can return free of charge (unless the retailers have a restock fee, but most shouldn't have that).

      @@KenchanKrafts I got the universe one. I just don’t like the blue. It’s crazy. I love blue but for some reason it just doesn’t look balanced to me.

    You are NOT petty. These are pieces of art and we buy them not just for how they write, but how they look to us. They totally pick out the ones they want for their advertising pictures, and we should be able to pick out the one we want to buy. I'm just so frustrated with these pen companies not doing their job.

    • @journalwithtiff7221
      @journalwithtiff7221  7 месяцев назад

      They definitely show the prettiest pens online, which makes sense. If they want to sell they have to market the nicest ones, but YES. It would be so great if they could send a pic before shipping. There are some leather notebook covers that send a pic before shipping. So we know it can be done!

    • @impish22
      @impish22 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, it can be done. Etsy does it and independent pen companies do it. I like your channel because you are honest and this kind of honesty will help the pen community in the long run. I am leaning more toward solid color pens in a color I like for this very reason. These manipulation pens have too many variables.

  • @impish22
    @impish22 7 месяцев назад +3

    So, I am so with you on this. I recently hesitated to buy a pen I really wanted (the Benu in Earl Grey), but didn't because I know it is such a risk/chance what you will actually get. Going forward, I have decided that I will not be buying any of these mixed resin pens that I cannot see the actual pen I will be getting first. To me, there is no reason that they can't post EACH pen online so you can pick what you will get. These pens are expensive so that extra time should be given online. Other sellers such as Etsy, etc. will show the ACTUAL pen you will get. I returned some pens to Atlas for this very reason. I'm just not going to do it any longer. I would return it if I were you. Don't feel bad about it. These online pen sellers are NOT doing their job. Often they pick out their prettiest pens to showcase online (because of course THEY can choose those themselves).. Why shouldn't we be able to? I think we should let these mainline fountain pen sellers know how we feel. Maybe they will step up their game.

    • @jayebird1070
      @jayebird1070 7 месяцев назад +1

      I will say that I think the process Benu uses for their acrylics means a higher consistency in distribution. I have bought several for myself and others and all are pretty well in theme to the pictures online. So if you are still drawn to the Earl Grey - it's a lower risk than then pens turned from hand poured rods.

    Not at all petty! For how much these pens are, we want them to be something we love and it’s okay to be disappointed. Don’t force yourself to try love something if you truly don’t. Good luck deciding what to do!

    I totally understand you. I just sent the Leonardo Galattica Universe back because I was not in love. It was beautiful, spectacularly sparkly, and I really wanted to love it, but I ultimately sent it back because it also had too much brownish orange and I guess I would always have wished it were different. And for this price should really be a pen you love.

  • @tattooedcat
    @tattooedcat 7 месяцев назад +1

    I also purchased this pen! I was definitely drawn in by the patina part of the name and the teal. Mine also has more brown like yours. Luckily, I love the brown part too, but I was hoping for broader swirls like on the cap and not so much of the mixed part like on the body. I’ve decided to keep mine, because I’m certain it will grow on me. I’m so glad you are returning it since it wasn’t a win for you. 🤘🏼😸🧡🖋

    OMG, I can totally feel you! If you're not in love, don't make yourself keep it. Send it back! I have decided to (if I ever decide to go for the swirls) purchase these second hand so I can see exactly which pen I get. Or have the retailer send me two options to pick. If they. don't want the hassle, I'll spend the money elsewhere.

    I missed this the first time around, and I'm so sorry I did. I 100% would have immediately told you that this is not you being petty at all. Honestly, I'd probably be pretty annoyed if I ended up in a similar situation. The cap is stunning, and it's totally a shame that the body couldn't have a similar blend of colors. And considering how much Leonardos can be, I think you have the right to want to be happy with out purchase. I hope your next New Pen Day brings more joy with it.

    I think the pen is gorgeous and represents the name well. Like a piece of metal that has started to patina with the hint of teal. I imagine inking this pen with Troublemaker Copper Patina. But… it is your pen and if it doesn’t satisfy you, go ahead and return it. It’s a gamble when you order these unique resins sight unseen. Funny enough, I thought you would love this pen because I thought you were into brown pens.

    Also, you probably thought it was a piston because the grande's are piston fill.

I have had some I got lucky on (shelled out for the Visconti Earth Origins Earth with its yellow and teal and got a beauty) and others I am more mixed on (my PM4, which I enjoy and my husband loves). Absolutely *not* petty 🙅🏾‍♀️ !! Fully agree that people spend too much to not be happy with what they purchase so, I hope you’ll be able to get your money back. I’ve been, so far, lucky when buying pens with unpredictable resins sight unseen but it still holds me up when it comes to buying custom pens. There’s absolutely no reason it should be a problem though to ask in the notes of FP stores to provide a pen with a certain amount of what you want in a resin imho. Alas, it sounds like that’s the case which is a shame 😕
    As for the resin, I’ve been looking at this resin for awhile now and had no idea there was green in it 😅 it’s definitely pretty though!

    I’ve had this with several Leonardo pens. Some grew on me over time and now I’m really glad I got the color mix I got and others did not and I currently have them up for sale.
    I think if it’s not what you wanted, I’d reach out to the retailer and find out what your options are.
    Edit to add: sometimes I find when I find the right ink pairing, the resin will grow on me. But I would only do that if the trailer isn’t willing to work with you on a better resolution.

    Ahhh, so sorry you're disappointed (you're not being petty). Like you said, it is a crap-shoot when purchasing the mass produced pens with the different resins. I had a similar experience last year with a Leonardo MZG 2.0 in the Primary Manipulation color-way. Like you, I was disappointed and knew I would not be happy if I kept it. Unfortunately, I could not return it but I was able to sell it and recouped my $$. With that being said, I think your pen is stunning! I've been drawn lately to the brown/gold/copper colors.
