The video David was referring to where it was Columbia students at NYU was not protestors not knowing what they were protesting, those students just didn’t know the specifics of the NYU plan because they went to Columbia and came to show support to the smaller NYU protest. They knew their own specific demands for Columbia. This is why they have media spokespeople and don’t want reporters interviewing random ass people🤦
It’s so weird how the media claims that there are “outside agitators” at these student-LED protests, as if community members aren’t also allowed to be there supporting them.

I graduated from Kent State University and this looks eerily similar. At the very least as it pertains to outside agitators. I’m praying that they DO NOT bring in the National Guard as has been suggested. This is also too close to the May 4th shootings.
well kent state is a public school. Protests are allowed on all government owned lands.
Columbia U is a private institution therefore your 1st amendment rights are not protected.

Free speech is protected on any college campus that receives federal money. Additionally students who pay to attend are entitled to protest against their own institutions.

There were many protesters at the 2020 Republicon convention. They were kept so far away even the press didn't feel like taking that trip to interview anyone. But we know how the press seems to give Republicons more free passes than a Disney employee has. They will probably highlight the protesters just to have a big story. I agree with them about getting out of the West Bank and Gaza and have their own nation. But some of the Palestine's have got to step up and want to lead that country. Telling Universities how to invest their endowment should not be an issue. An example apple, samsung and sony do a lot business in Israel and if the university has stock in those companies there is no treason to get rid of that stock.

@douglasdingwall1596 I was and I remember. I could smell the tear gas and I lived about 4 miles west of Grant Park. Used to see national guard driving up and down Fullerton in their jeeps. Cops all over. Yeah, today things might be locked down more. But 68 is memorable. Also, remember Kent State protests and others. And back then armed protestors were rare, bombers and arsonists yes, but other weapons seemed not as common

My father was out there for a constructon project staying at a studio apt on State Street near Division Street and got a wiff of tear gas 10 stories up. That was nowhere near the convention site They were not be able to shut down the convention but they can caused chaos all over the the downtown area. Many protesters had their heads bashed in with billy clubs. Singing "I love Hamas" anything is way, way past the line. I've gone to a lot of protests in my life and that sort of stuff is a guaranteed way to lose. As soon as the media got video of groups of people singing that it was over. What really enrages is there are college professors at these protests. Have these people who claim to be so political never been at protests before? It's not like the anti-Iraq war protests were that long ago and the BLM ones were less than 5 years ago.
There are dumb people saying dumb things at all protests. Did you happen to see any of the videos from the Israeli side of of the protest? They were calling the people on the Palestinian side "Osama, jihadists, rapists, baby killers, etc. They were also chanting "Palestine, no one wants you! Jordan doesn't want you, Iran doesn't want you, Egypt doesn't want you, the world doesn't want you." They are so incredibly cruel it's astonishing.

Sadly as someone who lived through the '68 convention, our current mayor is not up to the job of keeping the city safe during the upcoming DNC convention. He is mostly inept at public safety. He is good at having panic attacks when asked uncomfortable questions by reporters.. He turns and runs. Why was his attendance at the funeral of murdered CPD Officer Huesca rejected? The family refused to let him attend even after all the arm twisting from the Mayor's office. They said Officer Huesca said Mayor Brandon did not have the backs of the CPD.

I went to a pro-palestine rally recently. There was no mention of "death to israel" or whatever people think is happening there. I have to say David's coverage of this topic is woefully inadequate. It's concerning to me because of the seriousness of what is happening there. You don't have to be pro-hamas to think the carelessness for human life by the israeli army and the clinging to power by netanyahu is outrageous and worth commenting on. Even Bernie is hugely outspoken about it, even if he cant bring himself to calling it a genocide because it makes him feel queasy or something. You can't ignore or shove aside what is happening over there. It's a moral failure to just say the protestors are misinformed about what is happening, when there is so much evidence that people are being slaughtered senselessly, whether its aid workers or christians hiding in a church being sniped like animals, or 60% civilian casualty rate (by israel's count). The state of Israel and its army is going too far, and it is a moral failure to not be able to say that to the public. I hope David can come around to either changing his mind about it, or getting some courage to say more even if that means social or economic consequences like many people are having to face for speaking up against injustice. The entire population of palestine is not hamas, and the level of retribution upon the population is dehumanizing. I don't like what happened on October 7, but it doesn't excuse or justify what happened since then.
So YOU went to a rally....and David's coverage is inadequate as a result.

David Pakman actually supports Israel, so it's not just that his coverage of it is "inadequate," but it is done from the perspective of a pro-Israel commentator. In the first few days after Oct. 7, all of David's coverage on it was of how pro-Palestinian protesters were bad. After that, most of his coverage was about "woe is me, some of my audience is cancelling me!" (I had cancelled my membership too...) Right now, he's just pretending like this whole war and genocide isn't going on and he _never_ says anything about it unless his also-pro-Israel audience asks him a question about it.
The problem is that David supports what Israel is doing. He thinks they’re “eradicating Hamas” or whatever tf. He doesn’t believe they’re blocking aid from getting in or that they’re deliberately targeting civilians or civilian infrastructure.
