I know I'm late to the party, but I was waiting for this video! I wanted to say something about Ford's exhaust break system for towing when you made the previous video visiting the dealerships test driving the Dodge Ram vs the Ford...but I wanted to wait until you made a video of you actually towing with a Ford. True, I do favor Dodge products, "Even though I was raised in a Chevy family" but I like all badges, and in the end was not surprised by your conclusion.
In all honesty...I know people are asking for you to review a Chevy or GMC but hear me out. Ford is about to release their F600! this July apparently. Basically an F-650 but with the pickup cab and front end, without having to run the oversized medium duty body. Best yet, it comes with a 4x4 option, High output allegedly, and the 10 speed!! If you can gets your hands on an F600 to test it would be awesome to see, because no one is talking about it! Not even Fast Lane Truck is covering it or evening mentioning it, and right now there's only 1 RUclips video of a running example of an F600 and it's just the 7.3 gas. Overall it sounds like a review thats easy pickens/up for grabs, and would be really cool if you could beat FLT to the punch.
Anyway, sorry for the long comment. Really enjoyed this one, and loved the collab you did. Keep it up, and looking forward to what's next.

Hi mate, just a quick point on engine brakes, i have 47 yrs experience in large trucks, and regardless of horse power different brand motors all retard differently. Cummins has always been strong, then GM,mack and caterpillar. The point is that Cummins will hold you at 45mph on a hill whereas mack might have to go down the hill at 40mph, cat at 38mph,etc. Also the gear ratio of the gear you are in will be slightly different as well. Perhaps if you came off the hill at 35 instead of 40mph could have been the difference between touching the service brakes or not. Also sometimes engine brakes work better with slightly less revs.
A 2nd go down the hill at a lower starting speed would have been good, and might have surprised you. Keep on Truckin. Cheers from Digby in Perth western Australia

I subscribe to Alex...i honestly freaked when he switched to Ford but now that he's on his second one I'm pretty impressed. With the EPA cracking down I think the Cummins longevity advantage might go away...so it may mean the Ram, Ford and Chevy are all only going to last 250-300K if you're lucky. I honestly am confused as to why Ram doesn't switch to an Aisin or ZF 10 spd gearbox. Anyway Bad Cherry...im stoked you and Alex got to do a video..and he's an awesome dude to swing buy and let you do a test drive the way you needed to.

If you use the exhaust brake is in normal mode then it will work like your 08 dodge does. in order to use the exhaust brake just hit the button once for NORMAL and twice for AUTO which you see the exhaust brake symbol on the dash with an A for auto. Good to see someone being honest in the comparisons as a mechanic and a Ford fan it would of been interesting to see if you could of bought your super duty with the 6.7L or Cummins and the 10 speed. I have to agree that in stock tune the engine brake is weak but just putting a small tow tune on the Ford really wakes up the engine brake. In our area their is a lot of companies that use super duty for their work trucks and most agree engine brake from stock should be better. I think if you had a chance with trying a super duty with a tow tune that wakes up the engine brake you might have a different opinion. No matter it was another great video look forward to more.

I have a MB Sprinter that runs at Temps that would get you to call 911 and its normal. Hoping Ford and Ram are watching your important content and reading some of these comments, I would like to add that both Ram & especially Ford need to go with a tilt (F-650 style) front hood, one should be able to see the engine without pulling the cab. You're not wearing out your truck, or trailer brakes as much. Replacing breaks more often, is an unnecessary added expense. I’ve seen a few 7.3 Powerjokes with the manual split. Definitely find this an interesting concept, I’d be all for it. My mechanical knowledge is admittedly limited, but I can definitely see the benefits of a high and low range for each gear, I feel like it would reduce, “running out of gear,” or not having enough gear to wind out.

BAD BAD CHERRY... lol. So I'm pulling 18K with my 05 6.0 with all Bulletproof and headstuds and pulls nice n cool no prob. But that tow/haul exhaust brake definitely doesn't work as good as it should... Not much has changed in 15 yrs...
Definitely everyone needs to assess their situation as to towing loads that bump the upper limits of these small diesels... At some point it just makes sense to bite the bullet and buy at least a 10 wheel dump that can handle a bigger trailer and load and then just not worrying about it. Save the small loads for the small diesels

Kinda Funny Ford has Ram smoked on everything tow related (Power Torque Transmission, shifting tuning) except u gotta push that brake a couple more times on a steep incline at extreme max load and a Ram guy goes oh I’ll deal with crappy shifting lower quality transmission brand new engine that burns oil and worse fuel mileage cause it’s definitely a deal breaker to push that brake a couple times extra on max hill max load lol but each to his own just think it’s kinda ironic😁especially since a lot of Ram guys go to a bigger non VGT turbo and lose exhaust brake entirely 😉Exhaust braking has everything to do with Variable Geometry Turbos
