  • The Chevrolet (Chevy) Trailblazer gets a face-lift for 2024, with changes to the front-end, back-end, new wheels, and bigger infotainment. It's also now the smallest gas-powered crossover in the Chevy line-up, as the Trax has outgrown it this year. Powertrain options include a 1.3L turbocharged 3-cylinder mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and a 1.2L turbocharged 3-cylinder mated to a CVT. Available drivetrains are all-wheel-drive (AWD) or front-wheel-drive (FWD). This AWR RS with the 1.3L makes 155-hp and 174 lb-ft of torque. Compact, yet spacious and cheap, yet nice, this crossover punches above its price point. Let's take a look.

    Thank you for the doesn’t have comments. That is extremely helpful for me. I usually have to dig for what they didn’t put into them.

      Thanks for the comment! Glad I could help! That's one thing I realized recently that I need to do a bit more of--pay more attention to what's not there. Planning to do a bit more of that here in the future. Thanks again! And good luck with your search!

    I just picked up this Trailblazer RS in red. Got all the packages: sunroof, dual-pane, panaramic; Convenience package; adaptive cruise and soumd package; driver confidence package. Really like this vehicle. I also have the fully loaded 2024 Trax 2RS and love that one as well. The difference, other than appearance, I think, are the Trailblazer is a little smoother ride, larger on the inside, the center console and door arm rests are slighltly softer (but not much), power drivers seat in the RS model, but a negative is that the Trailblazer is louder with road noise than the Trax. Really love both of these, of course I got the AWD version of the Trailblazer.

    Great review. I own this exact car, even in the same fountain blue. I came to this after having some doubts about my purchase and needed to hear somebody speak some good things about this car. There is no way I would get any of the toys this car is equipped with from any other manufacturer under $50k (Canadian)

      Thanks! And glad to hear I helped you come back around on the purchase! I really think GM is doing a great job with the affordable small crossovers in general. Congrats on the purchase! Enjoy!

    1.3L is available on all trim levels including the Ls, it’s a $400 upgrade, I know this, because I own one.
    The largest difference in the two is not hp/trq, it’s that the 1.3 has a timing chain, not a belt, like the 1.2 has.
    Reviews missed the point on this car, all test a 30k plus equipped car, then compare it to something costing even more, the cvt transmission is being use by many, even Toyota’s use them now, and they have been doing well with them. Reviews all repeat each other with the same old ideas, because the cvt did have issues the first few years, we are now beyond that.
    Test the lowly Ls, fwd, , compare anything else at that price point.
    Then compare insurance rates, that’s when the trailblazer shines. Again I think all RUclips reviews missed the point here.

      @GearboxCarReviews  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yep, 1.2L in the LS and LT standard, but 1.3L optional in all trims for FWD and standard on all AWD versions.
      I appreciate that note about the timing chain vs the belt. Any missed information is always welcome!
      The reason most people, including myself, are testing the upper specs is more of a flaw in the system. If I could test more base model cars I 100% would do it, but the automakers make upper trims available for the media because they want to put their best foot forward, and as a reviewer my options are to either take the upper spec for a week, rent a base model, or test drive a base model at a dealership, and every option has their own issues. If I rent cars I'm just hemorrhaging money. At this point, the channel is already deep in the red. If I'm test driving at a dealership, then it's 30 minutes or so with a car, which doesn't tell anywhere near the whole story and the entire process is just super rushed. If I test what the automaker has available, then at least I get meaningful time with it.
      As far as CVTs go, I think it's more just that anyone reviewing cars is likely to be a car enthusiast and a CVT isn't the most engaging experience. It's a bit drony and you don't get any kind of drama with gear changes or anything like that. It does tend to be the more efficient option though, and outside of the huge issues with Nissan's JATCO CVTs I don't think it's an issue of long-term reliability.

      @@GearboxCarReviews NOT FOR AN RS!! The LS after taxes is around 26k. You're lucky if you get it 25k and up after taxes. And thats the baseline crap version with cvt engine and likely a 1.2

    • @GearboxCarReviews
      @GearboxCarReviews  3 месяца назад

      An RS starts at 30k, which is still pretty reasonable in today's car world. Yes, there are still taxes and fees, but that's on every car. I think it's priced right for the current market.
