In a dying breed of V8s and V6s you’re complaining about hearing the twin turbo. I’ll remind you, not everyone is into electric cars or the hybrid car scene. Certainly, I don’t think making this car hybrid or electric makes it more “luxurious”. I think it’s niche in what it offers and that doesn’t make it bad. Idk, just my two cents. There’s also a 4 cylinder god forbid the v6 is too loud for you.
I like V8s and V6s. I like the sound of turbos. I didn't think this car sounded nice and I didn't think it drove sporty enough to justify the suspension and the noise. If the V series is loud, or the Blackwing, that's one thing, but I didn't think it made sense for this car.
I really liked this car since it came out. The only thing I hated was the infotainment area so last year I bought a different car. Then, this year they updated it and I was like, “ah man, should have waited”
Eh, cars are always changing and hindsight is 20/20 and all that. It's tough to predict what's going to change, but chances are there's always going to be some change that makes you want the next one. I don't remember the previous infotainment too well, but I think I'd still take it over the update, just because I can't stand the giant screen across the whole dash. What did you end up buying?
@drplando14 that's fair, but it's always gonna share a lot with Chevy. The new infotainment matches the new Chevy infotainment pretty closely as well. The Jaguar is probably more interesting to drive I imagine as well though.
@@GearboxCarReviews thanks. Actually I am not a fan of my Jaguar. Brakes are very touchy and inconsistent. Very choppy when I go from 0-20 and there is something wrong with the steering because I can’t keep a straight line. I take it to the dealership for them to check but they say its fine and the breaks are just made that way. When you break, it feels like you are doing a break check on someone. I had a 2011 Saab 9-5 before but it was getting harder to get parts for it which is why I sold it and got the Jag. However, it was a great car w 150k miles without any problems. I’ll keep the jag for a few years and probably trade it in for either a used ct4 or ct5. You did a great review of the ct5. Very informative
Thank you, I appreciate that! Glad it was helpful and informative. Sorry to hear about the Jaguar. It sucks living with a car you don't like. Hopefully you can get it sorted or at least get it to a bearable point while you wait it out for the ct4 or ct5.
@GearboxCarReviews I think that's kind of the point. It offers a middle ground for someone who doesn't want "sport" but wants the power. This was normal for sedans in the older days. It's seemingly today that everything has become highly tied together, like the assumption that one wants Brembos and exhaust just because they want acceleration is...well, an assumption. But many don't care about taking corners or braking or track driving, and never will do anything like that, but they don't want a 4 cylinder that's slow in a luxury car. They still want some power and to hear it a bit. A touring luxury car with a hint of muscle. This car is the answer to that question.
I get that, but I don't feel like it really strikes a good balance. If you don't want sport, or if you want touring luxury, then it should ride better. It doesn't make sense that the magnetic ride isn't offered on this car. If you do want power, you do get a bit of that, but it feels like it has its hands tied just to leave room for the V series.
@GearboxCarReviews Agree about the magride. I feel like GM doesn't really play to their strengths a lot of the time. Magride should be available on every Cadillac. And the engines for the CT5 should be optioned up across the board for the non-Blackwing trims. Base and Sport should offer 2.0 or 3.0. V should be the 455 HP 6.2. It really ought to be. That would make it outright dominate every other midspec performance luxury car anywhere near its price point in terms of driving enjoyment.
My 2021 CT5 mirrors power fold when you park and lock the doors either in auto lock, fob lock or manual lock. You have to select the option in the system settings.
Another change which doesn’t get looked at when the car is reviewed during the daytime is the new 126 color ambient interior lighting. For 2024, CT5 only had white ambient lighting. As for the MRC not being there on this prong of the trim system is frustrating. It’s a quintessential tech for Cadillac. It became a game changer. And I shouldn’t be excluded from getting it because I prefer the luxury aesthetic over the sport aesthetic on the V. I am not asking for all of the V- tech. I don’t really care. about eLSD, the PTM, the PDR,, or the extra-25 horsepower. But MRC’s ride control is one of the best in the business. Charge me more to get it, IDC. Make me get the V-6 and Platinum package in order to get it, just let me option it if I want to. If the now departed Chevy Camaro SS could have MRC available at $40k, then a fully loaded $62k CT5 should be able to get it. So, I agree with you there. Also, how come you can’t get rear heated and ventilated seats and rear seat climate control? The XT5 has rear heated seats and available tri-zone climate control and it starts about $4000 less. The XT4 has rear heated seats as well. Why not CT5?
I will consider this exact car in '26 if they make MRC an option. Egregious oversight by GM if you ask me. They need to make this model the best riding in this price segment.
@aaronnute9693 I hear you. I think the expectations that you just get to be then because the V is basically what you want. It's still pretty smooth even with the FE3 Performance suspension. Magride softens things out to glassy quality. You'll still feel harsher Road imperfections though.
Great review. I just bought a 24 V last month. I love it. Left my M550 for the caddy. I was a BMW guy for a long time. I was tired of the same old body style and interior. The changes they make just aren’t enough to keep me. I could have waited for a 25. But I honestly like the front end on the 24 better and I love the cockpit better than that 36 inch screen. The v is sporty and that screen just doesn’t fit imho. The V has plenty of power. Although, I do think Cadillac dropped the ball. Other cars in this class are over 400hp. A simple tune by Cadillac would have achieved that number easily. Sadly, if you aftermarket tune, you’re screwed on the warranty.
Thanks! Yeah, definitely fair on the front-end changes. And I'm with you on the screen 100%. The old one was fine, and I can't stand how everyone is going to these long double-screen things. Hoping I can check out a V sometime soon, since I bet they let the power loose a little more than they did with this one. Honestly, I think 360 hp is plenty for something that's mainly a daily, plus you've got the BW option for more power, but I get what you mean. If the competition is doing it, GM should be trying to keep up.
About fake.vents for fake air, I always that kind of criticism to not be completely fair. The fake vents are placeholders for real vents on the V and V Blackwing. Otherwise, they’d have redesign the whole front in for those models.
I didn't really mean for it to be a knock on the car in this case. Even if it was just a design choice. That is a good point about the CT5-V and Blackwing, though. Last year the standard CT5 had a different front-end than the Blackwing, so that wasn't really on my mind, but it's certainly something I'll have to keep in mind going forward. Appreciate you pointing that out.
Well said very informative and you almost covered everything for me, I do agree with you about the suspension system I tried the 2024 premium luxury here in my country Saudi Arabia and truly I'm as confused as the car the engine doesn't live up to the suspension it's not sporty nor luxury. Indeed an identity crisis!
This thinking about the Sport trim not being able to get the 3.0T seems wrong in light that on the sport prong of the trims you can indeed get the V-6 with the CT5-V. So, you can get a sport trim with the V-6. It would make no sense to put a V-6 in the sport when you have the V right there on the sport prong, and the V-6 is more powerful the premium luxury with 360hp compared to 335hp in the premium luxury.
I see what you mean. I really think of the V as a separate thing, and even when you go to the site, it's a separate entry point to get to the V vs the standard CT5, and it's a more performance-oriented version. But I can see how it could be essentially treated as the next level of the Sport trim.
Bought one a couple of weeks ago. A great car. That color is dog shit 😂. I thought about the midnight metallic sky color but opted for white. Anytime you get into those funky colors they never stand up down the road.
WOOOOWWWWWWeeeee A NON black, white, silver, gray car.... What the heck is going on here.... are we in the twilight zone... Did some engineer at GM get the 72 color box of crayons??? Color me impressed.
I just really dont like the rounded side profile of the 25 as much as the sleeker and more aggressive lines of the 22/23/24. Its still a beaut but some of the edge has been removed.
I can see that a bit from the side. I think the front end looks a bit better than before, and the side view maybe loses a bit, but still looks really nice. Especially compared to the other stuff on the market.
to me GM hasnt been serious about lux and competing with the others in a long time , there entertainment system always seem dated to me , there controls layout looks like they ran threw the part bin of there chevy and just glossed up the buttons and controls and plopped them in the Cadillac.,. steering wheel looks pulled right out a chevy...you want caddy to be upscale then take it upscale better interior take a look at Acura, Mercedes, hell even genesis bring some style to your interior , leaving boring, black /grey.blk plastic to the chevy line
I don't know. I don't expect GM to do it. And Trump has Elon standing right behind with an EV company. Will be interesting to see what happens to the automotive landscape the next couple of years though.
