What a great review. Very tempted to jump on the bandwagon with a lease. Question, did you notice if the normal cruise control have the "stop and go" feature? Like when you are in bumper to bumper traffic. Does the car stops completely and then resume when the car in front moves?
Thank you! I was using Super Cruise the whole time, but according to the owner's manual it looks like the adaptive cruise (which is standard) should work down to stop & go traffic. You'll just have to hit the "resume" button if you're stopped for a little bit, but it'll handle the traffic for you. I wish I had tested the regular adaptive cruise. I'll have to make a note to remember to test that even on the Super Cruise equipped vehicles.

Agree about the door handles: what a pain to open in the winter if not garaged. Glad they have a rear wiper. You can turn off the auto up on the tail gate. Great review !
Thanks! Yeah, I'd be especially concerned in the winter, but I also find they're never out when I want them to be or they're out but it's still locked for some reason. And you can turn off the trunk feature, but I still want to be able to open it hands-free, just don't want to have it open randomly when I'm walking by. Hopefully they work that out!
@@GearboxCarReviews @GearboxCarReviews why do the handles "open" and stay open like a wing? I was at a closed dealer recently and pulled on the handle and the car opened. But when i closed the door the handles both stayed "open" on drivers side... Those door handles are the stupidest thing ever. In a ice storm people are going to have to scratch the paint with a ice scraper to get the ice off the door just to open the door. These Manufactures do not think anymore when designing things.
They open when you get close to the car with the key, and they also open when you unlock from the key fob. But the dealer must have had it set to not lock when you walk away, so they just stayed open. So many automakers are going to these handles, and I can't stand it. Some of the luxury automakers (and Tesla) have been doing it for a little while now, and now it's trickling down to all these EVs. Agreed, winter is going to cause problems for these for sure.
this should have at least 300hp. the car weighs 5000lbs. it's an ev and hp is easily attainable. 213 is not nearly enough when you have 3-4 people in the car as well and getting closer to 5500lbs
I have to disagree. A lot of people drive around in 130 hp hatchbacks and small crossovers, which have similar or worse power-to-weight ratios than this at 213 hp. If it were meant to be fast, like a track car, sure it would need more, but this power is more than enough for commute driving.
I don't think I did. I even said at the end that it's a lot of little things. Most cars don't have so many naggy little things, not major things, and for $40k I'd be frustrated about them. I do think they'll be addressed and fixed, and if those little things don't bother you then that's great, it's a great car overall.
Does anyone know the max charging speed of the Equinox, my EV6 can charge up to 11.2 kw of power. 35 miles of range power hour sounds like 6.4 kw? Thats what my 3 Leafs used to charge at with a Leviton 32 amp charger, now have an Emporia 48 amp charger hardwired with Wirenco 6/2 metal clad wire...😎
It looks like it tops out at 11.5 kW. If you go to "build and buy" on the chevy site and hit the "View All Features" on the right hand side of any of the trims and expand "mechanical" it shows all of the charging info there.
Is there a reason not to use Miles/KWH? Why do you use that stupid metric that means nothing and has no relation to any metric that has come before? Miles/Gallon, Miles/KWH Get with the program ffs!
Wh/mi is something Tesla commonly uses. Happy to add mi/kWh in the future if that would be helpful. No need to be snarky about it. I'm always looking for ways to improve, so happy to add it in.
I own a Bolt EUV and love it. I would consider switching up to the Equinox EV but really don’t want to have a Google ecosystem in the nav and infotainment. I just don’t trust that google will not sell all of my info to the highest bidder. I made a choice to be in the Apple ecosystem because they at least profess to prioritize my privacy so GM dropping Car Play makes no sense to me. There is a proven technology that users like and allows them to integrate with the way they already like to do things and GM decides they know better and do not even give us the option. For now I will stick with my excellent Bolt that does have Car Play and works perfectly. The Bolt is an amazing car and I am sure the Equinox is too so if Car Play/Android Auto aren’t important to you, I’m sure the Equinox is a great option.
Yeah, as a Google/Android user, it's a pretty easy switch, but they're definitely alienating the Apple users a bit here. I feel like they're going to find that out in a big way pretty quickly. I know Volvo went through this and eventually added CarPlay in, so hopefully GM figures that out as well. Glad you're loving your Bolt EUV! Great car!
GM is still proficient at midwest cheesy. That colored interior trim is hideous. The suspension is smooth because they don't have to worry about managing much power, but everything else is a step down from the best-selling vehicle in the world competitor.
Your style might have a name too….. this car will appeal to many who need to errands. I drive this one for school runs and errands around the city using one pedal and get back 85% back.
@@MtHoodMikeZ The price range is the same. Chevy Bolt was in a different price range, yes, but Equinox is not. The look and your other argument make no point.
@@Dntdgxj From what I can see, the current base price on the Equinox EV is a few thousand less than the Y, and I can find them below MSRP - and that doesn't even include the incentives I can tack on (Costco, Bolt ownership, etc). Within months there will be an even lower priced trim level which will severely undercut the Y on price. The other arguments are points in favor of the Equinox, and help it compete. The Y will still sell more, but there's a ton of competition now. That's why Tesla's sales are dropping.

You talked about the switch between Spotify to Bluetooth after pairing your phone, but you don't say if there's a fix?
There is a workaround. You have to go into the connected devices and disable the "priority" setting for it.

They are practically giving these away. No brainer for anyone that needs a presentable new car
Yeah, the prices you can get on some of these EVs in general is crazy. And lease deals are super cheap as well. Very tempting.
Rating charging by miles per time accounts for efficiency, but can be confusing for comparisons. Great point about slow charging with a big battery
I like to see how the door handles will perform during an icy weather in the winter.
Yeah, I don't think they're going to do well in the cold. I guess we'll find out soon.
So hard to wait 3 days until I get mine. Ughhhh just keep watching videos
Congrats! Waiting sucks, but almost there!
Great Job GM
Super Cruise blue means you are driving!
Yes! It's listening for a time to take over, but you are still fully in control at that point!
