It was literally written that Teresa Lisbon was a sensual woman wrapped in a cold exterior because she had given up hope for a personal, let alone romantic life. All the people obsessed with RJ missed the half of the show (or more) that was about two damaged people healing from each other and finding love and family again. Five if you include the team

With all this drama around Jane we tend to forget just how traumatized Teresita is.
Jane was understandably very damaged by his past and I think it helped him to know about Teresa too, it helped to develop empathy on both sides.
