There's a lot of lack of knowledge about studio one i noticed on some of the comments i was having many questions at one point i had to stop doing this dream of recording my own songs for about a year with a lot a frustration but i found this great tutorials from HRME and now I'm recording a lot songs and other musicians are asking me if i made all my music out of studio one (effects , eq comp, etc) studio one is a real professional daw ..
Thank you making this tutorial. I am on Studio 3.5 Artist . I had thought about upgrading but the bottom line is making a song. Too many beginners upgrade before mastering the basics. Thank you.
A heartfelt "Thanks!" from a new user of Studio One! Your videos are the answer to a prayer!
Excellent instructions and just what I needed to get started recording my guitar tracks. Thank you.
You have the gift of teaching. Thank you!
Such a good video, and thanks for being so thorough. You sounded great! I'm a synthpop artist, dropped everything to play guitar for 8 years and now I'm ready to record electric into my Studio One DAW. This video has been incredibly helpful. I'll check out your bass video too. Thanks again!
Thanks for the very helpful video. Studio One is rich and sophisticated program with so many features. Getting around in the program can be quite challenging. Your explanations are clear and to the point. Really appreciate it
Loved your tutorial! My Presonus 24c just arrived and you video just made me play awesomely in just a few hours! Thank you
Crystal clear tutorial, wonderfully explained.
I second that.
Great video ... and thank you for making such a good substantive video ... clear ... concise ... and not so long like many other channels ... the great thing about this type of instructional video is that "any" person could easily understand the lesson to make music .... thank you again ... great work!!
Thank you, mate! Finally someone who can explain so even an idiot like me understands. I´m gonna follow you from now.
An excellent video to learn the fundamentals on recording an instrument in Studio One. Thanks.
Coulda used you a few years ago, but you are helping rt now with everything...I could have used this last night in arranging..had to go old school, but now I have these vids saved for future reference..Good teaching style...I've read the manual a lot,but it is mostly a bit vague..
I'm new to all this. I bought audiobox usb 96 to play online on jamkazam (blues electric guitar). wasn't really interested in the recording part. but i decided to explore it. These tutorials are just fantastic. Great content, well explained, in small chunks. Well done!!
I wish I had teachers like yu in grade school,yu have a gift🙏🏾❤
The word is spelled "you".
@@dirtpipedan ty ass pipe, ty-thank yu
Nothing like a teacher in jorts!
Hmm..so..the guitar is plugged in and your using headphones to hear the guitar and drums.
When you playback the track with drums..is what you are hearing coming thru on the headphones..or do you have to switch settings to hear the tracks come out to the monitors?
I'd like to record at night, with headphones on and then listen to what I recorded on my monitors during the day. I guess my question is..when you record-is it with headphones only? Thanks. very informative for this noobie.
Great job on this detailed walk through. Thanks!!!
I can record and hear my guitar (clear) but my sound doesn't change a bit by using different ampire presets (sound settings, amps etc and even the "Red light dist" ). I was so sure to have installed everything right like your previous videos...
Since 3 days too desperate
same here . someone help ?
I have recently recorded 4 tracks (3 guitar + 1 bass) everything went fine, no to little latency at all. Then I started recording the guitar solo, also it sounds great and on time when I play and record. However now when I listen to what I recorded it's like one bar to late in relation to the other tracks. It doesn't matter what I do it keeps getting delayed somewhere in the recording process so the end result turns out bad. I use the old Studio One 2 program from 2014. I have recorded other songs with none of these problems, so it's strange it kind of came out of nowhere.
BR and great content!
update your software lol
Hey sir thanks that it was extremely helpful, I used have cakewalk sonar started having some issues with the drum loops and whatnot after a while I got discouraged watching this video it kind of made me want to try out this studio one DAW it looks that it's got more features and is more friendly user controls, great video !! 👍👍👍😎😎
Hello. this video is great but at the same time confused me. The end cable plugged in the guitar obviously is a instrument cable TRS, but I see the end of the cable plugged in the Input 1 of the interface is a XLR Canon cable?? Do you have a D/I in the floor? or the cable is one end TRS and the other end XLR?
I was thinking exactly the same...
Pretty sure he's using a TRS to XLR adapter?
ALBERTO GARCIA The interface inputs allow either XLR and TRS to be used in the same input.
@@StephenFosterUK Yeah, he should have spoken to that, TRS to TRS capable. But a GREAT course for a noob!
I just plugged my regular 1/4" guitar plug into Mic/Instr (Ch 2) on my Quantum 2626 and it worked. Like others, I was worried that there'd be a problem because Ch1 has a Mic connected that uses 48V Phantom power and, on the 2626, a switch turns phantom power on for Ch1,2,3,4 all together. I've now read (and confirmed) that a 1/4" plug plugged into the combination XLR/1/4" connectors does NOT see the 48V out and does NOT affect the guitar input signal in any way.
Thank you from a still struggling new Studio One user. Very informative and helpful.
After 4 months of a subscription to this software, I still don't know what I'm doing and am convinced this is $15/month I could be wasting elsewhere.
I've tried using the amps in the app... Just not for me especially when I am looking for a sound that match the B tuning for a really heavy tone... So I think I will just use a mic to amp for the sound that I already have. Thanx for the tips though.
great video, a help, if I don't want to play with headphones, only using my monitors, how should be the Mixer knob configuration?
Your studio is such a vibe
Thank you so much for your help. I bought the Audio box and I don’t know. But from now I know how to record the Guitar. 👍
Apparently I have a different version. I have none of those guitar options on Ampire. All the digital modeling apps are the same mess. I end up going back to just using my real life effects pedals and then running it all to whatever I'm using to record.
Ampire was updated a little less than 2 years ago.
one day i would like to meet you for drinking a beer ....
When engaging a high gain head, I still can listen to a clear guitar tone at the same time I listen to the high gain tone(as soon as I plug my guitar I can listen to it even if I'm not pressing the speaker button)
Great video, you've simplified what's often a complicated procedure. Btw, you might want to change the device block size, as you're getting latency.
Change device block size? Higher or lower? Still trying to understand this setting(s)
@@michaelpal7641 Block size is basically the delay time (in samples) between input and output. Lower = less delay/latency, but increases CPU usage (which can distort the audio if it's too demanding of the CPU).
is there a video showing how to record using external amps, like tube amps?
In terms of sonic qualities, how important would you say is, how high the gain level is set on audio input? Is it better if you can turn it up more before clipping (better sonic qualities) or is it just a "knob" that is giving you pretty much the same audio quality across all levels no matter how much you turn it up. The reason I'm asking is because my Scarlett solo gain turns up to around 1/4 before it starts clipping. I'm wondering If I am loosing something of my sound quality because I don't use guitar with less powered pickups that would allow Scarlett to open up its input gain more. I hope this makes sense, English is my second language. Thanks. Great video btw.
I have a guitar plugged into input 1 on the front of the audio box and the main going out to a speaker. I followed this but don't hear the effect of the ampire that I dragged over into my inserts as shown
hi, Can you please help me with ampire issue.
I cant hear the ampire effect while playing guitar. I hear only plain sound without any effect.
What may be the reason ?
Take care
Please Help!!!! im using studio one 6 as my DAW, I just bought a presonus audiobox USB interface and connected it as the how to's said. I'm not getting a signal from the guitar at all but i am on the interface. Ive tried both input 1 and 2 just to see if one was maybe broken but the clip light is working when the guitar is connected to the interface
My input meter is dark instead of blue, any idea why?also, when i use any of the inputs in the front (I have the1824c) the signal starts to distortion and glitch after I play for a couple of minutes until it´s inaudible, already updated the firmware on the universal control and tried all the latency set ups and nothing works. Any help would be appreciated .
And what about studio one doesn´t recognize that you plucked in a guitar. I have this problem. I have connected it with a normal 6,33mm klinke cable with my focusrite solo. Do i have to use an xlr cable to play it in my daw or what do i have to do ? Thanks for any help
What happens if you got no presets on empire ?
Oh man. Thank you for the upload. Very informative. Good pointers. I'm subscribing!
Got my guitar running through an eleven rack into studio one. Sounds fine when playing and recording, but sounds like crap (like the treble is turned to 47 out of 10) once I export it to, well, anything. Tried a variety of settings in the export screen, highly doubt the problem is there.
Any other ideas?
I litteraly had no idea and no foundation of music knowledgeable wat so ever buh listening to yu I alrey kno how to make beats in oneday
I am really confused with interface and this tutorial really rocks I always can come back to it having confidence I can record again lol😪🤟🏼🙄
thx much but please help :) > i added Ampire but guitar has no effects. what exactly do i do after i drag Ampire into middle of my screen next to my inputs? do you have another video to detail this?
David. I bought a CLA Wave Guitar Plugin and am using it with Studio One Artist that came with my AudioBox by Presonus. I'm not impressed with the sounds it makes but I liaised with CLA and they said 'Artist' won't hold it, and that I'd have to go for Professional which is a hell of a lot more money! Any insights or support most welcome. Thanks.
Can you do a lesson on how to import drum and bass tracks? I plan to use a VST like EZ Drummer to build drum tracks around my recorded guitar riffs and also to either record bass tracks or import bass riffs.
Awesome congratulations
thank you kindly my friend , very educational you helped me
I can't get sound through ampire I can only play something clean then add the effect what am I doing wrong?
My ampire only has default options for cabinets and presets. It also has no gain knob???? Basically I can only record super distorted guitar which sucks because I am a jazz player.... anyone know to solve this problem?
Thank you for the introduction video. Is there a way to set up the Audio Box USB 96 Studio for video conferencing?
The only thing I am missing that you did not mention all these things are for the professional version these presets are not in artist version at least my 6.5 artist preset list is blank
Got a nice Studio 24c recently, recording using a Audio-Technica Athm20x as my tracking hesdphones.
For some reason, the guitar picks up the sound coming from my headphones. When I unplug the headphones to record, this doesn't happen. Anyone has any idea of what's going on?
I just got this with Paiapro, Good to know it's good for recording. FL lacks on that part.
Edit: I own FL Studio too. Not hating. I just feel like Studio One is way better for audio recording.
Do you have to monitor through Studio One when you're recording? This works great when you only have a couple of tracks, but otherwise I'm getting a lot of latency. I've tried a bunch of buffer settings, dropout settings etc. I notice you have an Apollo interface in the background. I mix/monitor through one of those, but I can't record using an amp sim unless I monitor through Studio One and the latency makes it impossible to play. What do I do? Thx.
Hey there. Under default I have no amp choices. Is it because I have Artist and not Pro again?
How come I only have a default amp with too much drive? My amp that pops up is different only one row of knobs...
No DI? Not mandatory, but a low impedance, balanced input is the difference between a "decent" take and a great one. Also, love that you called it a plectrum.
I keep running into the issue of I can hear my guitar through my headphones but when I press record it doesn't register any sound.
Using Studio 4.6 and cannot expand the inserts. I'm able to drag the Ampire interface, but had to adapt a little. Also, my rhythm track is fine, but I made a lead track and can't get the volume right.
I was thinking that the interfaces like this shouldn't take a hi-z guitar input directly in because it's a mic-preamp. Shouldn't we be going through a DI box to drop the signal to a mic level? I see you're going in with an XLR cable, but you seemed to suggest you plug guitar right in? #confused
Great video, I'm deciding between this interface, the Focusrite 2i2 3rd gen and the Audient 4. But this one has a great plus which is the VST software. Can it be used in Ableton?
Perfect, Thank you ever so much! Great video!
For some reason, my output says stereo w no other options. I can hear my guitar, but when recording there are no waves showing up. Does anyone have a possible solution?
Justin Esmer I’m having the same problem with my organ. The sound is beautiful but no waves
what if id like to record at the same time with an electric guitar and a condenser mic?
You need this gear: two XLR cables, two guitar (1/4” TS) cables, and a simple DI box ($40 at Sweetwater). Plus an amp and a mic.
Plug your guitar into the DI in. Run a second 1/4” TS cable from the DI pass-through to your amp. Run an XLR cable from the back of the DI box into one of the AudioBox inputs. Mic your guitar amp; plug the mic’s XLR cable into the AudioBox’s second input. You now have two tracks: a live mic’d amp and an all-in-the-box full-digital signal.
Or maybe I misunderstood you. Did you want to mic your guitar amp or a vocal?
Great video but sadly there are no presets on my ampire plug in.!!
gosh this video is so precious
someone help me! my ampire shows no presents, there’s only “default” available :(
not able to monitor sound no sound going to studio one. but can hear the un prossessed sound on the presonus
I can get through the rythym guitar recording just fine but when I record a solo, it always sounds muffled without any plug-ins
My boa went stoopid with da guitar🔥🔥🔥❤❗🎧
How do you do put the drums like that ? With the intro/verse/chrous and outro names
I can't hear my guitar :( I only have headphones in my pc not in audiobox 96
I don't know what i am doing wrong: i was recording okay, then at some point (must have changed something) the volume of the recording became very low, and now i can see the signal on the track being recorded but i don't hear anything. I was digging the settings, changing stuff, played with knobs and - nada. Any hints...? Thanks.
This really helps out. Thanks!
Thanks man, this really helped me out
Great tutorial!
Honestly the first minute of this video gave me way more questions than it did answers. I bought a Studio 24c and I didn't realize I needed an amp plugin, nor that I needed to plug my headphones into IT, not my computer, and since my headphone jack doesn't fit anywhere, I feel kinda screwed. Also, what kinda amp plugins are there that come with the Studio 24c? cuz I don't see the ampire in there at all. I just want to be able to hear my guitar on my computer man!
I have a crazy delay on the guitar input, not sure wahts going wrong.
Hi there, thank u for sharing the tutorial..anyway can you help me to advise setting studio one for recording using real amp and effect, so I don't need to put plug- ins, so I can get my own real amp and pedal sound precisely...
Thank u and have a good day..
thanks for your video, is there a way to give time before starting to record, start recording immediately and do not have time to prepare. something like 3, 2, 1, go.-..-
The version of ampire shown in this video is not available in the free version of studio one that comes with the audio interface, sadly.
I’m having too much guitar tones come in the mix vs the ampire tones I set. There isn’t a dry knob on the amps. How can I dial down the guitar sound without messing up my ampire setting?
my plugins are not working and when i click the record button its not working either
My ampire only has default as an option is that normal?
here I am on another Daw tutorial and again if I have to go thru all these mouse clicks just to lay some tracks down I have lost all interest and will just keep using my stand alone Boss multitracker
Wonderful overview, questionable jorts!
I do not understand the mix knob at all. Can you please explain
Digging those Daisy Dukes!!!
Clearly the big issue is that the guitar signal is too hot even when the gain knob in the Interface is at 0. In the video he seems to not have that problem and then I checked that the input is a XLR cable. Maybe he is using a di box with a Db pad to solve the problem.
Same problem
Mate, try the planet waves american stage cables. Those made the issue dissapear.
I was thinking exacty the same... I just bought mine and got fucked by that... I'm looking into returning the unit
I just purchased the Presonus AR8 USB (it's not the newest model the usb-c but it was cheaper as last year's model). I downloaded the Studio One that came with it. Anyway do you know why the Ampire will drag over to a track and it will open, but there are no presets in there and nothing really seems to work with it? So you know why this would be?
I am having an issue with playback on my studio monitors. I am only hearing my guitar through my headphones as well as the recorded playback. How can I get my playback through my monitors but my live feed through my headphones??!?! Anyone with help on this would be greatly appreciated!
So very helpful , thanks a lot .
Why am i getting a clean signal ? I tryin to get high gain.. what am i doing wrong?
Been using studio one for a little while now and run into a problem whilst recording my guitar. I’m using an electric directly plugged into my Studio24C interface and somehow it’s picking up other signals. I’m wearing headphones, have the input dial at 0 and my guitar volume at 0 yet I can faintly hear my drum track playing in the recording. Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?
Thank you!
what about using my own amp i have it working but hear a static feedback that it also records with my guitar
Hi great video tutorial! Very handy and detail. I might have missed if someone already been asked this question to you. Is there any different to set the input volume to - 12 db in the DAW rather than on the audio device? Which one is more recommended? Thanks!
Good video. Question, if you want a Mic and Guitar recording at once (so using 2 inputs) , and you need phantom power for Mic, I guess, this is not possible?
Only able to hear empire, with effects, On stereo mode. Once I switch mono My tone immediately switches back to a clean sound. Does anyone know what’s going on? Thank you
More importantly, there is a delay between when I hit the strings, and I hear the sound. Any thoughts?
Great video! Thank you!
