Hi Shevy, I do not have the api2500 but from what I have read and heard they are different. One is not "better" than the other. This is an FET compressor and has a very fast attack and release times. Both this and the API can make great mixbus compressors and you won't go wrong with either one. They may sound different but neither is better. this being over 1000 cheaper is a pretty amazing deal!
Not even remotely the same thing. The Drawmer is a FET compressor. Api 2500 is VCA. I have both. The Api does more, and IMO, is objectively better, but it's also 3 times the price, so yeah, you get what you pay for. But for the price, the Drawmer is excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to add it.
depends what you want.. the drawmer is an FET compressor which can be similar sounding to 1176's without the transformer coloration. Its very flexible and really thrives on drum busses, some mix busses, recently ive been using it as a distortion send
@@hiddentunnelmusic cool, man that slams, im looking at the 1973 and eq but this thing seems very versatile, ive got a neve and great river 500 series but they done do the fet blam for drums, time to get some rack gear me thinks and lose a tone on ebay, when the hell under hell ends lol, thanks man j
As said by someone above, thank you for pushing it to its limits, I needed to hear the full color of its circuitry
This video convinced me to buy this unit, great job showcasing it's capabilities!
Great Demo. I'm sold.

Does the Drawmer add much over the 2500? I have the API already but considering adding the 1978.

Hi! Sorry for the late response, it has been a crazy year... Logic Pro X, All versions+ I believe have the built-in drummer instruments.
