That 1099 sounds so heavenly sweet - it’s like the sound of god. Huge hug of warmth, presence and sweetness. So so so beautiful. Rupert made some amazing audio gear hands down 😍
Thank you for this great video! The impact of hardware EQ's is MASSIVE! Sounds so nice and close! I like Neves and Schubert Systems 6-band parametric most!
I knew it I freak-en new it!!! I tried explaining to people that these stinken dar garnet processors make a world difference!!!! lol You just proved my point!! thank you soooo much for this video. thumbs up for you!!!!
Really loved the 1099 and Schubert on the drums. For the vocals, I loved the 1099 and the MEP-250EX. Thanks for sharing this, helped me a lot. It's so dang important to understand the characteristics of equalizers in the context of a mix. Cheers!
that sontec to me kinda blew everything else away. retained good sonics of all instruments around it. seem like you was fighting on that neve band were to fit the vocals at 7.2 neve 1073 distant 2nd. that shubert had bad phasing of instruments around it and the main eq point.
The neve 1099 might be one of the most beautiful eqs i’ve ever heard for vocals… wow I have an API 550, avalon 2055, neve 1073, hendyamps eq and I feel covered… But this eq is calling out for me🥺🥺 Is there any remakes, reissues of this?!
This is one the the best EQ comparison ever. Now I understand why every company wants to emulate these equipment. If possible, can you do something like this in the software (plugins) world. I do not have the cash to buy these hardware, but do have a lot of plugins (waves, slate digital, ik multimedia cs, mc dsp, focus rite, etc. DAW = Pro Tools). And I like the song. Thank you!
Vocals seem a little dull between 5-10k, which should never happen when running a u47 through a neve. Also could be the capsule on the u47 has expired. But if it is you're missing those critical high frequencies in your mixes I I would recommend the yamaha MSP series where you can hear every nuance and detail along with great mid-range and tight lows. Another thing, you should clear up those pods by working those knobs back and forth until that grittiness disappears.
I keep coming back to this video! I just can’t get over how good the low boost on the neve is for the vocal, how much body it adds. Is there any other hardware you know of that can do this, or is it just the Neve? :-) I have 1073 clones, APIs, solid state pultecs etc etc and none of them do that!
Scott never released that song online. The music before the vocals was from a foreign language album that was released in Asia. Don't remember the name, I'm sorry!
Hi, this is a fantastic demo. Is this ITB? How are you interfacing the eqs? On a analog desk or DAW inserted (DA>AD). 220Hz on the Neve in VX demo sounds like God to me. Thanks for sharing.
What's the deal with this Schubert EQ? I went to GS which is usually a wealth of information and two threads popped up and I couldn't even find a mention of it. Nowhere sells it used. Were many made?
The 31099 does in fact have a line input. It’s is missing the -10db and -20db positions of the 1073 but the 0db line in position is there for use during mixdown.
How do u set these up to use them? I have a focusrite clarett interface and I'd like to try a hardware Eq for my first time. Can I use it to track on the way in or do you just use to mix after recording?
EQ'ing on the way in works for me, but in Pro Tools and other software you can also designate an input and output on your interface as a insert (just like a plugin) so you can use hardware in mixdown also.
Thanks for the feedback. I have a focusrite clarett 8 preX and it has 8 line Inputs in the back I think. 1 and 2 I use for my monitors. so the Eq can be linked with just 1/4 trs cable to the inputs back there? Thanks
wiremessiah You are right, the Magnasync is a difficult beast. It loses gain and has no actual boost, so you have to make up the gain with an amplifier of some kind which has it's own sound. I find I don't use it much because of this... but when it works it's the most different of any of the EQ's shown here and sometimes it's the magic bullet. A better sounding passive EQ is the Langevin AM10 featured in the "LangeNeve" video on my site. That one is extra greasy!
***** Maybe just do a few samples with level matching in the DAW. I am curious what it sounds like. Nice video. Sorry to brag, but my Manley Massive Passive destroys all of these. It would be cool to have a bunch of different eq's, but I just put everything through that beast and love it. Sounds similar to the langevin but with with more bands and tube goodness. Out of those eq's, I like the Neve the best, maybe because of the material, but is sounds beefier than the others to my ears.
Sure and I can build an 1099 using an empty tuna fish can and some duct tape! No really I believe you could get so close my grandpa would have hard time hearing the difference..
Honestly one of the best shootout that I've ever seen if not the best

17 minutes of solid education on EQ. Thank you brother!
damn, that 1099 is golden...
Can you do a video on how to afford all this quality gear? Lol
Neve 1099 sound incredible!
nice! Thank you. This video really shows what people mean by "vibe" in analog audio gear
Really diggin the Langevin....For such limited features it brings a lot to the table!
Thank you for this great video! The impact of hardware EQ's is MASSIVE! Sounds so nice and close! I like Neves and Schubert Systems 6-band parametric most!
What a great resource... my first experience listening to some great eq's loved the 1099... great colour
Neve 1099 and Sontec was my favorites! Nice video🔥

VR and Sontec!!

The Neve 1099 and the Magnasync were my two favorites from this group!
Thanks for taking the time to do this video man (or woman)!
super rad shoot out. The pitch correction on the vocals is killing me though(love never fails). respect. keep em coming!
Now I understand what surgical EQ means! Great video
I think the Schubert sounded the most natural and clean to my ears. But i cannot find it anywhere at sale...
Dude, you are just awesome. I learn so much from you. I look forward to more.
the Neve 1099 is superb!
Great vid. Very helpful that you use captions rather than voiceover to describe each adjustment. Much less distracting.
The Sontec and the Neve VR sound great.
What a song! What a singer! What a eq the 1099!!!!!! Great!!!!!!
Neve Neve Neve for ever, Neve all the way, the only "sound", the best tracking option. All the others are just knobs... Very good video.
Very well put together. A great resource. Thank you.
You sir, are doing a great job with these videos!
Thanks a bunch.

Do more of these please!
The Neve 1099 makes everything else expendable

1099 and Magnasync FTW! Beautiful.
Awesome video! Thanks for posting! :D
Oh man... the first Neve is beautiful
I have a 1073 eq butt that 1099 so good!!! Really Really good!!!
This thing eats middle range for breakfast LOL
Great video!
Love the neves 8:40 & 12:49 curious which is your favorite ??? and I would love to hear some more material thru these bad boys
wonderful video, keep the good work up!
very nice shootout! thank you.

Very interesting ,thank you!
Tried to buy the song by Scott on CD but couldn't find it anywhere... do you have an idea?
And what is the music up The vocals?
Thanks in advance
Scott never released that song online. The music before the vocals was from a foreign language album that was released in Asia. Don't remember the name, I'm sorry!
@@jephthastudios thanks for the reply
Neve 1099. I need that!!!!
What´s the name of the Song? Great Singer!!! The Neve is kick ass, love it!!! Thanks for sharing!
Best EQ comparison ever. Thank you!
Now, please remove the autotune on the vocals in that last song. Pulse pitch modulation is not really helping :)
amazing!! thx for this!
neve and the magnasync are my favorite.

Pro Tools inserts on Apogee Symphony
I want a Magnasync passive EQ VST made by softube
That was down, right awesome. Thanks.
All love for the sontec
the neumann aint much without the neve touch!
Analog rulez
1099 sounds almost perfect.
“Sounds Famous” is what I like to say
What's the deal with this Schubert EQ? I went to GS which is usually a wealth of information and two threads popped up and I couldn't even find a mention of it. Nowhere sells it used. Were many made?
We are listening ;)
Love fails miserably sometimes ... just like that Manley
Hi, where can I purchase "Love Never Fails?" Please, let me know. Thanks.
It was never released
wow wow wow woooooooooooooow
Magnasync and Sontec!
Did you use a hpf in tracking?
Why do not you use an hpf in the video?
that 1099 is amazing, where did you get it?

Rupert made GOD sound good!!!
Sontec all the way.
Fuck that Neve just destoys everything else. It is waaay better than all the others
Is the VR taken from the 88R console?
Nope from a console model VR. 88R came later
woks fine , sorted
lo maximo
SSL OR NEVE ?
are your studio tech pre's modded?
I cannot find this song. Where is it?
I don’t think this version was ever released

@@jephthastudios Release it!
One headlight
Give me that 1099 and nobody gest hurt!
the guy voice makes me close my throat when he goes to a higher register on the chorus. lol He sounds so choke
Great video! But vocal was horrible... Destroyed by autotune?
Henrik Hansson the Mike Scott song??
no way to tell what the magnatech is doing without gain makeup. It sounds better in bypass.

Nope, just the treatment of their recording... ;)
this drummer needs beat detective more than he needs eq
lol I can duplicate every single sound in this video with a stock cubase eq and maybe a clipper
Sure and I can build an 1099 using an empty tuna fish can and some duct tape! No really I believe you could get so close my grandpa would have hard time hearing the difference..
17 minutes of dirty nails
Should have seen the fingernails before I cleaned them for the vid
