Awesome. Rumor has it that David is gonna give away 100 units of each of these compressors every week until the end of the year because he loves us so much... ;)
I'm hanging at your ear. I've become a real sucker for that most interesting subject. I even learned to hear differences now, but still have problems to choose the right tool in any given situation from the hundreds of available models. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us :)
Hey David! Thank you so much for your work. It is gold! I don’t know anyone on youtube who has such well explained and professional contents about audio production and mixing. You answered so much questions I had especially when I was a beginner back in 2017. I’m glad you are so dedicated. I usually don’t write comments on RUclips but I must say again : just thank you !
Once again, David, great info, thanks! I have collected WAY too many compressor plug ins.. all of them are great, but I am now needing some tips on choosing the best design for best application. This overview was awesome, I look forward to each deep dive on each type.
We are here on the best RUclips channels dedicated to sound techniques. Here I learned everything I did not know. Too bad for those who do not know it. Thank you for everything David.
Thanks for a brilliantly comprehensive explanation of my ultimately favourite studio tool. As an acolyte of all things related to compression and compressors, this is the best video. Thanks loads!
Broooooo thank you so much for doing this. Just this video was very informative. Can’t wait to see in depth dives into each type with your thoughts on when and where to use them! Thanks!
Best mixing and gear head channel on youtube, just a thing, I believe the waves pie compressor is an emulation of a PWM type, good idea for a series David.
Would it be possible to create a new playlist for this video and all following of that series? There are so many videos in no order which makes it not easy to find/navigate.
@@mixbustv No worries! Excuse the brick wall of text... sometimes I get a little carried away when writing back an email and don't know when to stop. 😅
i was about to call you out for skipping pwm but my god lad you did it lol, played me, if anyone wants a cheap solid pwm compressor the fostex 3070 is super underrated, almost no low end distortion
Funny how you adviced to use fairchail compressors in a subtle and transparant way, while I liked it the most when I used it in paralel on a drumbus while absolutely cranking the living shit out of the knobs in mid side. I really liked how that changed the stereofield. And pulled up so many detailed details while also making the drums sound more moving and alive. I played with a hardware version
Thank you for doing this series! I’m about to purchase my first hardware comp to go with my first hardware EQ (just released revision of the Manley Mastering Massive Passive) and I can’t wait for the next videos!! I’d love to know which types and models you’d say are “must-haves” for mastering in each group of similar genres (for me it’s the broad electronic genre, minus EDM)! Thanks again!!
Great video, I'm slowly getting through the whole compressor series. Question -- why doesn't anyone ever talk about modern digital compressors, not based on analog hardware? I use Logic, and they have the "Platinum" compressor, and I think Ozone has a digital limiter/compressor as well. For my ears, these plugins can control dynamics as fast or slow as you want, with 0 artifacts. I sometimes use the Platinum to control dynamics, and then a vintage modeled plug in (or hardware) to get the tone I want. Is this common among pro mixers?
Looking forward to this series. What would be your first suggested compressor for someone new to outboard gear? Specifically in the 500 series. Thank you.
Great video, love this kind if information! Id also love a video explaining how to hook it all up with a patchbay? What if you wanna use like 20 different outboard gear, would you not need a patchbay then? I have 16 input and 16 output channels using one audio interface with 8 channels and a digital adat for 8 more. But that wouldnt be enough to hook up like 20 outboard gear.
Just a heads up...This format is way better than a screen shot while you talk. Granted, the ones I've seen like that are plug ins, and they're still very helpful, but there's something about seeing you sit here while rocking out the details with us. Thanks.
Amazing idea for a series! Again you provide real value to the community, David. Thanks a lot!
Awesome. Rumor has it that David is gonna give away 100 units of each of these compressors every week until the end of the year because he loves us so much... ;)
Joy
this is the part of my life that i don't regret for studying 6 years of electronics. Great video!
Yeah same. Ive built some, and could build the rest. And understand most of it to a sickening degree haha
This is one of the few MOST INFORMATIVE " SHOWS ON RUclips". And i been watching for yrs!!

what a wealth of knowledge of a video right here. so awesome thank you!!!

You are without doubt the best source of Mixing and Mastering information I have found on RUclips
🙏🙏🙏
You've gone BEAST mode David!!! This video is TOTAL Homerun with all bases loaded.
Man, i watch this channel like some people watch ESPN! This is one of my absolute favorites!....PERIOD!
im just now watching this and wondered why i love the chandler on parallel and you explained it. Good to know i have good ears.

Don't eat alone kage pro tv. ☺ share with your friends too
Very informative. Thank you.
Amazing delivery and compressor content. Thank you.
Thanks for a brilliantly comprehensive explanation of my ultimately favourite studio tool. As an acolyte of all things related to compression and compressors, this is the best video. Thanks loads!
Thanks David! Speaking of PMW, Waves made a PIE based plugin and the SKnote SDC's second stage claims to be PMW based as well.
Ready 💪 For real though this is the only audio video with zero dislikes amazing channel!!!
MixbusTV haha Wow I’d say that’s not bad at all!!
Exactly what i was looking for; concise with deliberate terminology and no bro-science production jargon. Excellent video! :)
Broooooo thank you so much for doing this. Just this video was very informative. Can’t wait to see in depth dives into each type with your thoughts on when and where to use them! Thanks!
Awesome, awesome bud...this is great. Really looking forward to the rest of the videos!
Excellent, clear, concise
Very cool quick rundown of the different kinds of compressors. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
Thank you for starting this series!
Best mixing and gear head channel on youtube, just a thing, I believe the waves pie compressor is an emulation of a PWM type, good idea for a series David.
Great stuff man , enlightening. Your love for compressors is obvious like the tattoos on your forearms which seem inspired by FET transistors :)
Woah🔥🔥.... heavy introduction ❤️❤️❤️
Hey, thank you for this video, it answered a huge chunk of my questions almost immediately after they became questions. Great timing!
Love this and excited about the upcoming vids? Are they coming everyday?
Thanks david...very helpful information...
Excellent, can't wait for the other episodes!
Came for the hair, stayed for the eloquent technical descriptions.
Can't wait......you are doing great job for us !
Great series and looking forward to the upcoming vids. Thanks!
The only channel I don’t skip the commercials so you guys can fully monetize your efforts. Good s*** fam!

I am so hyped for the series!! Cant wait for it!
Excellent video David. Again helped me decide on a Heritage Audio Successor over a WesAudio, Tegeler Crème and others. Bless You Bro!
Solid video, good sir!

Thanks for the info.
Great job... as usual!!
Omg... Yaaaaaaay!!! Let's go.. Finally..
Would it be possible to create a new playlist for this video and all following of that series?
There are so many videos in no order which makes it not easy to find/navigate.
sure
@@mixbustv I'm also looking for this playlist as I'm having the same problem
Very good - thanks David.
Great video! I'm looking forward to see what you have to say on all those compression technologies.
Maybe the same with EQ's later on ?
Great info thanks!
Looking forward to the new videos in the series!!!! Great idea
killed it! good job!
This video is so useful that I saved into my favourite list
MixBus TV! King 👑 of Kings 👑
Bravo Palomas!

Great topic to get into detail, very nice
Already love this series!
Not only the best Chanel on youtube, the best Chanel on any platform ever made. Learned more from you buddy than I did at “college”.
🤘🙏

Yes it is common, but no plug-in or hardware has zero artifacts, only volume automation
Wow. This is great.
