And how you act will influence, or in other words: predicate your thoughts (what you think) and your emotions (how you feel).

Manipulations only work on people who fundamentally don't want to see what is real/true. It's possible to deceive one who has their head buried in the sand.
But even dimwitted people who are honest with themselves and have learned not to overlook the still small voice inside them will catch on to the most clever and careful manipulations.
A lie is like a hydra, tell one and you have to tell two more just to cover. Eventually it becomes impossible to keep it up. One because you can't remember everything you said and keep your story straight, two because truth leaks in from other sources, but thirdly because when a lie grows big enough; the inherent contradictions become impossible to hide!

The talk perfectly relates to the experience I had during quarantine:
If you leave your work and dont attend it, as your morality would command you to, *you leave out the meaning in your life and that meaning is necessary to withstand the inevitable suffering thats part of life. If you dont have meaning to make the suffering worthwhile, you will become vengeful and bitter by suffering meaninglessly.* Hence! Morality rules supreme and hence, you have to keep trying to be a good person, you have to keep trying to affirm life*

You could call that the basis of a justifiable belief, or theory.
Every scientific theory is a testable model _based on how things behave_ that is taken to be functionally the same as knowledge.
It's the best we've got. We can't see more. We still assume the truth of what we 'know.' We are flying on instruments.

Fuck deceiving myself so I won’t hurt. Build yourself up. Get strong. Love yourself. Face reality right then and there so it won’t hurt you badly at the end. Life goes on very smoothly for you after you do that. If you truly like and love yourself and keep moving, it’s great. Experience talking. When I finally woke up to who I was and what I deserved my reality changed. It’s empowering. It’s addicting. You can’t be relaxed in like 24/7. It’ll hit you. Always work on yourself. Put that effort in constantly. Like I said you will get hurt. But it won’t last long and it won’t sting as much if you’re prepared. You’ll hit it with a KO and move on. I use to hate the term “ life goes on”. It felt insulting, unhelpful. I took it as “ you suck, but move on”. What it means to me now is life goes on. New opportunities, new friends, relationships, experiences. A new way to enjoy your shine in something that could be possibly even better than what you thought you were attached to.

The concept of subjective truth is, literally, the undoing of society. If I can proclaim a thing to be true, and that truth requires nothing more than my claim, then no other version of truth has any more value than the mere claim, and there is no way to negotiate the things that are objectively real compared to subjectively real.
In a world of plenty, where hardship is unknown, this might be fine. But, in a world where we have to build things and grow things and repair things in order to maintain our lives, this is a catastrophic mistake. If I say, "Turn that handle left, or we're all going to die," and your version of "left" is subjective, then we're all going to die.
Physics doesn't care about your perception.

    • @feltuzok
      @feltuzok 3 года назад

No. I don't think what you say is how it is. I think you have 3 sets of truths. 1st: The universe's truth that we all observe. 2nd: society's truth that are based on the things we collectively observed from the universe, from watching society and watching how and what each individual is doing and what their own truths are. 3rd: individual truth. And the individual observers their own truth as well as from society and they also know things from the universe.
Now since nobody is perfect its inevitable to make mistakes sometimes when observing or when you make your truths. So what society is considering truth, some of it can be false. And it's funny because the universe don't care what society or the individual thinks it's true, because it's the universe's truth the real and hard truth. Also what the individual feels or knows or learns truth can come from the universe and then he or she can challenge the society's truth because it might be false. Now that works vice versa with society's truth. But you can't argue with the universe's truth.

    • @ChristnThms

      @@feltuzok here's why that's all new-aged bullshit...
Two guys walk up to a thing. One guy says, "You see that thing? It seems to have these characteristics." The second guy says, "I don't see anything, and thus cannot agree on any of those characteristics."
See? Anything OTHER than objective reality has no meaningful way to even discuss. Words don't even have meaning within the context of subjective reality. Language is a literally impossibility.
See, everyone actually agrees with objective reality. It's some form of mental masturbation to pretend otherwise. Objective reality is how we deal with every single thing in life, from solving our immediate needs for food, water and shelter to organizing society's longterm goals. Everywhere you see an attempt to bring subjective reality into it, you find intrinsic conflict, because suddenly some prick can start making claims that nobody else can substantiate, and he insists that everyone else pretend that they're true.
      Sound familiar?
Look around, at all of the really shitty things that really shitty people are up to. A LOT of them rely on some form of subjective reality to get people to to go along with them.

I agree and miss this guy alot. I just want to point out that there is one exception to what he said here, namely, that immoral actions are inevitably punished but there can be a nontrivial delay between when the immoral act was prosecuted and when the punishment is exacted. This delay can be longer than the lifespan of the people who commit the immoral act. Also the justice can be falsely apportioned and appropriated. While I don't think (and I hope) that these situations are the exception, they can effectively mean that some people can get away with immoral acts and some people can be the victims of immoral acts but since the people doing those acts don't know or think they are committing the immoral acts, they in fact will get away with them. I like to think that in these exceptional cases, the conscience of the people who know they are guilty of something is perhaps sufficient punishment in lieu of them not getting caught...unless they are psychopathic.

Just remember that he is explaining the concepts/ideas of other people. Even if he agrees with that, he is not really "expressing his opinions" in this videos, because this is an excerpt of a class he is teaching about Existentialism.
But, even so, the idea that "there will be a punishment for immoral actions" actually requires that there is an inherent definition of what morality is, making it a "relative concept", or making morality a relative thing. In the sense of what he is explaining in the video, we can only know what "immorality" is after we "connect the dots", or establish a sequence of events, and observe that the outcome was incongruent with the initial intentions of a certain action. And another problem is defining who are the "elements" in the complex structure, because, as you also pointed out, there can be a "nontrivial delay between when the immoral act was prosecuted and when the punishment is exacted", and "justice can be falsely apportioned and appropriated", things which, in other words, mean that an individual or groups of individuals can perform actions that would publicly be regarded as atrocious and "immoral" by other individuals in the social structure they belong to, but they don´t personally "pay the price". So, the "immoral action" would simply be immoral in the broader sense, when you take into account "bad consequences" to the social group, or to the individual´s descendants, or a multitude of other "innocent" individuals who are then paying the "moral price" in a way or another (like hundreds of millions of people keep constantly "paying the price" by being harassed at airports, due to the actual actions of a handful of people - those who drove the planes in 9/11. Just as an example.).
