22:12 I think a contributing factor to the quality of the visuals is the fact that DR1 and DR2 were originally PSP games, only being localized starting with the Vita versions. And you're not wrong that the Vita can do way better. Danganronpa V3 is also on that system, and was actually made with that and the PS4's hardware in mind. (I also feel like DR's style of pop-up book environments and cutouts didn't really start to flourish until DR2)
I feel like the reason I enjoy DR is because of how the cast bounces off each other, particularly during the trials. It's less about them being legal professionals and more about them breaking through the chaos of their own personalities and biases to reach the truth. That said, even I don't think the first game does itself any favors in that regard. I don't blame you if you never try the sequels though.

forreal though, have you played Zanki Zero? its from the same devs... i think....
the controls are unbelievably clunky and some of the writing is danganronpa level, but i fell in love with the aesthetic.

i really tried to appeal to the fans and make it as clear as possible that this is all just my opinion and i dont wanna take anything away from people's enjoyment of the game, but not until the conclusion, and i doubt most danganronpa fans will make it that far into the video lol

The only one of the main series I actually like is DR2 simply because the characters are actually pretty likeable for the most part and the plot is the least trash. DRV3 has some great characters too but the plot is complete garbage. DR1 has terrible characters outside of two, arugably three.

i think these games have a lot of good ideas hidden in there somewhere, but in my opinion they're held back by some outrageously clunky dialogue writing. i still love the series, though.

I love danganronpa for the wrong reasons i think its utter trash the characters are all bad the murders are all goofy nonsense and the games one glorious meme that had me cackling for 3 games straight
