The fairy at the end gives Magic Boots, giving the person who picks it up… basically the same effect as the Bunny Hood. On a cramped auto-scrolling stage. Very useful, as you can see. Right as the return trip starts, a large cacti can spawn a Super Pac item, which gives temporary invincibility, which actually is useful in a cramped auto-scrolling stage, but annoying for anyone who doesn’t pick it up. Plus, it’s right at the start of the rolling logs section, where it’s easiest to fall into a pit, which can make the invincibility a waste. Like have that version’s Pac-Man and his pals in the background cheering on the Pac-Man we play as in the background. Hell a stage based off of Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures would’ve been better. That’s how bad Pac Land is.
1. I agree with that one, at least that would be better and more fun than 75m. 2. Also agree, had a stage based on Cookie County/Another Dimension (based on what cjszero01 had on his list of 5 stages and bosses he would've like to see in Smash 4 with Swedish Kuriboh) in my own version of the game and changed the Kirby Super Star Masterpiece to start in the Spring Breeze game within a game (due to not having Game Boy games and the original Kirby's Dream Land in general). Though Disagree with the last one, I rather them have PAC-MAZE in both versions of Smash 4 instead of a stage based on that particular sub series that Sakurai basically banned from Smash because he wanted the classic version of Pac-Man in particular and if the people who worked with him didn't choose that design for Pac-Man and went with Ghosty Adventure Pac-Man instead he (Sakurai) would consider dropping him all together.
@@orangeslash1667 likely, but as is said in the video the stage is dog ass, i think either having the corshairs as a stage hazard or the b-doings as a gimmick would've worked better than PAC-LAND of all things
@@davidthecommenter I think the reason Sakurai puts so many Hazards on certain stages, is because if it's a platformer series like Pac-man, Kirby, and Donkey Kong. The Hazards serve as a way to test the player ability to platform well, because sometimes if the stage is very dangerous, it's best to focus on surviving rather than fighting. There is a reason the stages for Castlevania, Bayonetta, and Metal Gear don't have hazards is because combat is an important part of those franchise. Not so much for Pac-man and DK. The good news is that Pac-man has the stage advantage (of curse), because he can choose at any time to ether zone you out or platform. Everyone else is at a disadvantage. I wonder if Sakurai is a masochist, it's confirmed that he loves Cuphead???
Dishonorable Mention: Pyrosphere, my problems with this stage can be summed up in one question, Why did it take for them until Ultimate to give us the Ability to turn off Stage Hazards?!
I will forever love Hanenbow for how much of a weird pick it is in general. I have no idea if it's on the list, but it's a common pick for this topic so whatevs.
I will defend New Pork by saying it is incredibly well designed in terms of lore execution in terms of Mother 3 It is incredibly accurate to New Pork City itself which was designed by a child who was spiteful and wanted to make something only he would enjoy which it executes and embodies perfectly so I don’t think it’s lazy
Seeing number one gave me some inner PTSD not because of playing it in Smash, but because it's required to play in a certain N64 game. Hate it on that principle alone.

And it's funny because I have yet to see Poke Floats pop up on a single one of these Worst Smash Stages lists, and I've got a file with the entries for almost _two dozen_ of them
10. An extremely lazy choice on their part 9. I enjoyed it 8. I liked it too 7. Man, a lot of stages on here that I like! 6. I thought it was just fine, but definitely not one of my first choices. I found Living Room, Brinstar Depths and Gaur Plains awesome. But I can definitely agree on Dream Land, this is just an extremely lazy choice. I actually liked Garreg Mach, and I seriously have no idea what Wambu's getting at by saying the idea of a Minecraft World is dumb. 1. Honestly, you two are such amazing content creators and I’m so excited for this! Keep up the good lord’s work guys! I’ll play a game on (insert #1 pick here) in your honour
What made me hate 75m so much in Ultimate was due to the Pauline Spirit fight. I failed 7 times even with the best spirits I have equipped for my main.
After thinking about it, I realized that most of the stages based on the style of a retro game that I actually like (for example, 64's Mushroom Kingdom, Melee's Mushroom Kingdom II, and ofc Pac-Maze) are the ones that actually take liberties with the layout to make it a better stage rather than going for full accuracy with it. Another example that didn't make the list is Mushroomy Kingdom; 1-1 already isn't the best stage, but I think 1-2 in particular is really terrible and in large part because they were going with accuracy: having that line of bricks at the top of the stage means you respawn really close to the upper blast zone, and also make it hard to launch people upwards when you're in the main part of the stage.
I don’t really think viewing every stage purely for fight ability is fair, sometimes to you need a stage to fuck around on. I say this as I reach this timestamp 13:26 .
Man, fanfickle jumpscare in the intro with the laptop, there hasn’t been an upload to the channel called fanfickle in 10 months bro and both people in this video are in fact, part of it
My big issue with skyworld is that it feels really cramped and a lot of the match devolves into bouncing around like you're playing on that one small part of hyrule temple
I like the stage, but I will admit it’s a mess. I used that stage when going for the “With a 300% handicap, beat a level 5 CPU with 2 or more points” challenge, as I knew that the bouncing would likely keep me safe from falling off stage. This plan worked (I think I had hazards off, don’t remember)
I don't know either of the presenters in the video but four minutes in and your chemistry has me in stitches. Off to check out the rest of both your work now, thanks for this one!
My thoughts on this list: - I'm not a fan of Mute City SNES either, but I don't think it belongs on this list, similar statement can apply to Flat Zone X - The Great Cave Offensive SHOULD NOT BE AT NUMBER 9, it should be #3 or #2 - EVERY STAGE that you put below The Great Cave Offensive is better than The Great Cave Offensive. The only exceptions to that are 75m and PAC-LAND
Man, I remember being there back when they had initial plans for this countdown. At times, I thought it would never happen, just because of all the hangups that would constantly happen to either or both of them throughout the years. It's incredible to finally see it fully realized.
The worst part is that the DK stages in Smash have never really been all that good since Kongo Jungle, Jungle Japes & Kongo Falls are rather bland & boring to fight on, then theres the 2 stages you mentioned which the video speaks for them & then there’s Jungle Hijinxs which is DK’s only good & amazing stage…and it’s not in Ultimate, like they could’ve done a Mine Cart stage or Krocodile Isle or Kremwood Forest or Frantic Factory or Kreepy Kastle or you know anything from Tropical Freeze but god forbid Nintendo ever wants to acknowledge Tropical Freeze’s existence
So, as I said I would, I'm putting down the results of my research into the various worst Smash stages lists. To reiterate the criteria: I've watched a bunch of Worst Smash Stages countdowns and put down the entries from said countdowns, as long as they have at least ten entries. Then from there, I ordered the stages first based on the number of times the stage was in a countdown (even if it's just an HM/DM), then by the mean average placement overall. In the cases of HMs/DMs, they are all considered a tie for the next spot (11th with a top 10, 16th with a top 15, etc.), unless there's a "honorary number 11" situation, in which case that is 11th and the rest are 12th. Aside from this countdown, I have also put in the data for the lists from Rabbidluigi, Nathaniel Bandy, JWittz, Akinola Verissimo/Blakinola, DPX Solo, Richie Reviews, TheSmithPlays, JimmyJunks, Flyingboy w/ Ninjablue27, SuperSonicJB, ViralRak, Dippydurian, Enigma, SpongicX, Brantendo Studios, AngelPortugal, Expand Dong, Odyssey Central, Mr Meme Lewis, TIP YT, Kaden8tor Gaming, and Random Vids. (Note that some of these lists are specifically only of stages in Ultimate, or are so old that Ultimate wasn't even out yet.) So with all of that out of the way, here are the current rankings, with a minimum of three appearances per stage: 25: Venom (3; 10.667) 24: Orbital Gate Assault (3; 9) 23: Kalos Pokemon League (3; 7.333) 22: Distant Planet (3; 6.333) 21: Spirit Train (3; 5.667) 20: Frigate Orpheon (3; 3.4) 19: Big Blue (4; 6.5) 18: Balloon Fight (4; 6.25) 17: Flat Zone X (4; 5.75) 16: Jungle Japes (5; 9) 15: a tie- Dream Land GB and Brinstar Depths (5; 7.6) 14: Icicle Mountain (6; 5.333) 13: Rumble Falls (6; 3.833) 12: Gaur Plain (7; 8.571) 11: Mushroomy Kingdom 1-1 (7; 7.857) 10: Rainbow Cruise (7; 7) 9: Wily Castle (7; 6.571) 8: Norfair (12; 7.25) 7: Palutena's Temple (13; 6) 6: Hanenbow (16; 4.5) 5: New Pork City (17; 7.235) 4: PAC-LAND (17; 4) 3: Mario Bros. (18; 4.889) 2: The Great Cave Offensive (19; 3.632) 1: 75m (21; 2.571)

Great Cave Offensive, 75m, and Pac-Land just make me so sad. -Before Great Cave Offensive, I feel like there were no bad Kirby stages. Okay yeah Dream Land and Green Greens are kinda the same, but they have their differences which I can appreciate. Fountain of Dreams is just gorgous, and The Halberd is just an absolute thrill to fight on. I think if GCO had been a transforming stage, like some of the Fire Emblem ones, changing the entire stage to different parts of the cave, it would've worked so much better. You'd get to show off EVERYTHING and not make it so big and cluttered. Or like, let us fight on the Lor in space or something. I'll take that too. Heck, Galacta Knight could even be a stage hazard! I just want another good Kirby stage..... -I did genuinely have my fun with 75m back in the brawl days. But the moment I saw that they changed the right side from perfectly sized platforms to basically an inch on my screen, I knew it was just over for that stage. -I do kinda have a soft spot for Pac-Land, only really cause the main music track for it (and it's galaga remix) slaps, but also cause it introduced me to the fact that there was so much more PacMan games out there than I knew about. The stage still absolutely sucks though.
@@Royblade90 I think Sakurai made Pac land very hard on purpose to test players ability to platform well. Here's a tip if the stage starts to get over whelming, focus on surviving rather than fighting.
75m is by and large the Biggest mistake as far as Smash stages are concerned. The fact that it somehow got even worse in Entries after it's debut makes me wonder why they keep bringing it back!
Not a programmer, but I think the reason might be because of time constraints. Maybe during the development stage of SSBU, they thought about doing more iconic stages for the main franchises and then focus on more simple stage to program and model. While not having Jungle Hijinks is a huge letdown, I think the team didn't put it because they didn't have the time to implement the stage correctly. I can image this stage being hard to implant some character gimmicks like inkling's ink or especially Steve's blocks. I'm not excusing them, they could have made a stage DLC after the fighter one and added Jungle Hijinks then. But, making a video game is hard and time consuming so sometimes you have to make a choice. ...It was a shity choice but a choice nonetheless
But as a Smash stage….. yeah no there is no defending this one. On 75M, the other players are just a distraction from the MAIN OPPONENT…. The stage itself.
@leohernandez8751 You're right. Don't know if you were talking about me or the other guys, but I've never said that 75m is a good stage. Quite frankly, I agree that it is the worst stage in the series, and I didn't play SSB that much. @@xeldrine66 Another reason is because the Donkey Kong series is known for it's brutal difficulty, so Sakurai felt that DK and Diddy needed a really hard stage. Especially when we already have a comfortable DK stage with Kongo Jungle. 8:44 Someone's a TFS fan, in case people don't get it, Maximum Oversaiyan is something Tien says in DBZA when Vegeta says about finding a level beyond Super Saiyan
If they wanted a classic Donkey Kong level then choose 25M but I think there is a reason 25M wasn't chosen just for one reason because the Flames would eventually consume the entire stage, making it unplayable to if they Faithfully ported it like what they do for these classic stages And if we go with that, then do 100M. That would be fun, but of course, what Chump would want to have fun while playing a game?
honestly I was surprised at 75m being the worst stage, but that's on me for not actually getting what the list is about, cause I have a lot more fun on 75m than pac land, but I do agree it's even harder to play on 75m. it's just, so absolutely awful that in some twist of fate it turns around into being enjoyable in the sense of giving up. sakurai takes the wheels, it's out of your hand, witness the brutality in front of you. p.s. good list I had so many laughs

24:05 I’d rather they have done a stage based off the then new Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures.
Though Disagree with the last one, I rather them have PAC-MAZE in both versions of Smash 4 instead of a stage based on that particular sub series that Sakurai basically banned from Smash because he wanted the classic version of Pac-Man in particular and if the people who worked with him didn't choose that design for Pac-Man and went with Ghosty Adventure Pac-Man instead he (Sakurai) would consider dropping him all together.
they should've done a pac-man world stage instead, either from the beach area of 1 or the woods area of 2
@@davidthecommenter It's confirmed by Shigeru Miyamoto himself that Pac-Land had an influence on Super Mario Bros. So that could be the reason?
Honestly, I would watch Wambu Meditate under a Waterfall as he gorges on his Grilled Cheese. Sounds like peak entertainment.
Emperor's New Groove reference at the number 4 intro I can tell...
Nice.
- Someone who never watched it
Dishonorable Mention: Pyrosphere, my problems with this stage can be summed up in one question, Why did it take for them until Ultimate to give us the Ability to turn off Stage Hazards?!
Prospered would be pretty good without hazards. Unfortunately it doesn't even appear in SSBU.
I will forever love Hanenbow for how much of a weird pick it is in general. I have no idea if it's on the list, but it's a common pick for this topic so whatevs.
I will defend New Pork by saying it is incredibly well designed in terms of lore execution in terms of Mother 3
It is incredibly accurate to New Pork City itself which was designed by a child who was spiteful and wanted to make something only he would enjoy which it executes and embodies perfectly so I don’t think it’s lazy
The ultimate chimera being an insta-kill also makes sense lore wise considering it insta-kills you in mother 3 if you run into it
8:27 ok that was funny but only because I got monkey ball add right after that
Seeing number one gave me some inner PTSD not because of playing it in Smash, but because it's required to play in a certain N64 game. Hate it on that principle alone.
"One extra platform[!]" Yeah, Yoshi's Story has Randal, so it's not exclusive to Skyworld.
26:56 why do they call it a living room
i am fighting for my life in here
Love how pokemon and digimon work together here when lot of people fight over which is better
11:12
New Pork City half Hazard no, boring yes, every no chances of room to fight no, a deadly Chimera that comes in to one-shot you, oh yeah definitely
22:41 ima blow both of your minds: that ain't water. That there is SOUNDWAVES! it's kinda hilarious tbh xD
Great video that I can’t wait to watch again and again later.
I’m totally surprised that PokéFloats wasn’t anywhere on the list given how many people I’ve seen absolutely hate that stage.
And it's funny because I have yet to see Poke Floats pop up on a single one of these Worst Smash Stages lists, and I've got a file with the entries for almost _two dozen_ of them
Oh I love seeing both of you! You two are really underrated!
10. An extremely lazy choice on their part
9. I enjoyed it
8. I liked it too
7. Man, a lot of stages on here that I like!
6. I thought it was just fine, but definitely not one of my first choices. BTW at 15:39 I expected a Monsters Inc reference
5. I didn't even know it was a new stage for a bit of time
4. I only really hate it in that one event match with Zelda.
3. I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't hate that stage.
2. Yeah, I can agree on that one
Honorable mentions: I liked Magicant and Wrecking Crew. I found N64 Peach's Castle kinda meh.
1. Another stage I don't agree on, but then again I love a LOT of the Smash Bros stages.
Good list overall!
This collab was inevitable, and VERY welcome.
Great list overall, and it’s always great to see the Wamboi, but 14:57 makes me sad since the Joe’s Crab Shack closest to me recently closed down. Had quite a few birthdays there, and now it’s gone.
18:45 Emperor’s New Groove reference hell yeah
Wambu is one of maybe 2-3 creators i can think of that makes swearing endearing. Also thanks, gentlemen. Needed this.
I have never been happier to see a number one on a countdown list.
And one other thing about 75 meters that makes it worse... In smash ultimate there's two legend class spirits on it...
And they're _both_ agonizingly brutal to beat
13:41 I sometimes feel like the SSB series forgets that it's supposed to be a fighting game and not just a platformer.
When the Great Cave Offensive is only number 9, I'm interested, but a bit scared.
18:38 “What do you expect me to do, meditate under a waterfall while I gorge on my grilled cheese?”
Best line I’ve heard in a while
They really should have given us Melee Mute City. Got any more of that sauce?
23:06 also duck hunt can be used at one. But the N gif saves it thank you.
2:21 You better be setting a good example for the young’uns :3
The dynamic duo I've been waiting for!!
15:30
Wambu don't you dare, don't you dare throw another crab 🦀 at ChaosKey
I don’t really think viewing every stage purely for fight ability is fair, sometimes to you need a stage to fuck around on. I say this as I reach this timestamp 13:26 .
Man, fanfickle jumpscare in the intro with the laptop, there hasn’t been an upload to the channel called fanfickle in 10 months bro and both people in this video are in fact, part of it
Two top countdown youtubers talking about Smash stages. Fucking classic let’s gooooooo!
the intro is the funniest thing i've seen today. peak comedy, genuinely.
I love your rapport between each other. I'd love to see more collabs between you two!
@@angel-of-light-kelly1355 It's not so much of a problem if your playing as Pit, because he can somewhat fly, but it is a problem for everyone else.
Nice love this crossover. Love both of you guys countdown videos
I don't know either of the presenters in the video but four minutes in and your chemistry has me in stitches. Off to check out the rest of both your work now, thanks for this one!
My thoughts on this list:
- I'm not a fan of Mute City SNES either, but I don't think it belongs on this list, similar statement can apply to Flat Zone X
- The Great Cave Offensive SHOULD NOT BE AT NUMBER 9, it should be #3 or #2
- EVERY STAGE that you put below The Great Cave Offensive is better than The Great Cave Offensive.
"I'm throwin crabs at ya" feels like the spiritual successor to "IM THROWIN SNOWBALLS ATCHA"
So you mean to tell us, you LIKE Poke Floats?
(Note that some of these lists are specifically only of stages in Ultimate, or are so old that Ultimate wasn't even out yet.)
So with all of that out of the way, here are the current rankings, with a minimum of three appearances per stage:
25: Venom (3; 10.667)
24: Orbital Gate Assault (3; 9)
23: Kalos Pokemon League (3; 7.333)
22: Distant Planet (3; 6.333)
21: Spirit Train (3; 5.667)
20: Frigate Orpheon (3; 3.4)
19: Big Blue (4; 6.5)
18: Balloon Fight (4; 6.25)
17: Flat Zone X (4; 5.75)
16: Jungle Japes (5; 9)
15: a tie- Dream Land GB and Brinstar Depths (5; 7.6)
14: Icicle Mountain (6; 5.333)
13: Rumble Falls (6; 3.833)
12: Gaur Plain (7; 8.571)
11: Mushroomy Kingdom 1-1 (7; 7.857)
10: Rainbow Cruise (7; 7)
9: Wily Castle (7; 6.571)
8: Norfair (12; 7.25)
7: Palutena's Temple (13; 6)
6: Hanenbow (16; 4.5)
5: New Pork City (17; 7.235)
4: PAC-LAND (17; 4)
3: Mario Bros. (18; 4.889)
2: The Great Cave Offensive (19; 3.632)
1: 75m (21; 2.571)
Looks like the only two from this video's list not to be on your grand list are SNES Mute City and Skyworld
@@shanegiorgio4713 Most stages mentioned in the video (honorable mentions included) fell into one of two camps: those that already had at least three votes to begin with, and those that got a second vote because of this video. The only completely new entry was Minecraft World. Truth be told, there are a little over 30 other stages that only had one or two appearances on these lists.
It was a lot of fun seeing 2 content creators I've always really enjoyed growing up(ChaosKey4013 and Wambu) work together and make a list video that seemed quite ambitious. Even though a lot of the stages on their list were from Brawl and Smash 4, this video was still worth the watch for me. Seeing stages like Pac-Land and 75m on this list is obviously no surprise to anyone even remotely familiar with the Super Smash Bros games.
Both ChaosKey4013 AND Wambu did an amazing job of putting together a 30+ minute long video on some of the worst stages in all of Super Smash Bros, seriously though, ChaosKey4013 and Wambu work about as well together as Sonic and Tails. Like this is seriously some amazing chemistry between these two.
Overall, this was an amazing video created by two of some of the most amazing and enjoyable content creators on youtube. Seeing more lesser known channels make significantly better videos than a 100% working content farm with over a million subscribers(such as LankyBox) today really puts a huge smile on my face. Finding a video like this on my recommended feed is like digging through a cesspool filled with green ogre poop, only to suddenly wake in a dark room with a golden copy of the best possible version of Sonic CD.
Seriously though, this video is absolutely fucking amazing. When watching the video for yourself, you can TELL that there was a lot of work, heart, and soul put into a video that will probably never turn up on RUclips's trending page. Ten(maybe even more) out of ten.
18:46-18:53 OMG THEY REFERENCED THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE😂🤣
31:34 Silly Wambu, you're already a ghost!
"P i s s w o r l d."
That threat about bleeping swears was awesome.
I think Pac man has the stage advantage with Pan Land, but for everyone else it's a disadvantage???
Honesty, Pac Land would be a little better if they redesigned and slowed down the scrolling.
Hopefully, they'll see the backlash this stage is getting, and they won't put it in the next one...
...Or Sakura doesn't care and wants to drink our salty tears
@@xeldrine66 Nah no worries fam, it wasn’t directed at you. It was just my frustration of 75M being carried over for 3 games at this point. Sorry if it came off as hostile man. I agree that hopefully 75M gets cut or replaced with 25 or even 100M in a future smash game.
@@xeldrine66 Another reason is because the Donkey Kong series is known for it's brutal difficulty, so Sakurai felt that DK and Diddy needed a really hard stage. Especially when we already have a comfortable DK stage with Kongo Jungle.
Sakurai made a video called risk and reward, explaining how it's used in a lot of games. 75m truly feels like high risk, high reward to the the absolute extreme.
I love how out of the 10 worst stages on your list 6.5/10 (I say 6.5 because of Flat Zone X) originated from Brawl just goes to show how Brawl really didn’t focus on the competitive aspect of game design
If they wanted a stage based off the original Donkey Kong, they should have gone with 25m. You know, the simplistic first level that is usually the one the is used for pop culture references.
Finally got that list crossover!
Im actually a fan of many of these stages, but im also a self proclaimed garbage connoisseur.
I love a stage with gull, the tenacity, the sheer audacious Chutzpah to be utterly unplayable garbage.
I enjoy picking great cave offensive as a decently speedy character and just timing people out.
I love seeing people scramble in the vain attept to fight.
Its glorious.
Unless it's Ultimate online and idling, having fun with other players, or running away can cause a temporary ban.
Any video with Wambu in it is a good video.

Great video!
My only gripe is that Orvital Gate Assault wasnt mentioned in any way, and I welcome any and all arguments
I simply won't agree with any of them
I will not take this Flat Zone slander sirs. Or Pac-Land for that matter.
Wambu really got his own Smash Bros Intro there.
8:44 Someone's a TFS fan, in case people don't get it, Maximum Oversaiyan is something Tien says in DBZA when Vegeta says about finding a level beyond Super Saiyan
If they wanted a classic Donkey Kong level then choose 25M but I think there is a reason 25M wasn't chosen just for one reason because the Flames would eventually consume the entire stage, making it unplayable to if they Faithfully ported it like what they do for these classic stages
And if we go with that, then do 100M. That would be fun, but of course, what Chump would want to have fun while playing a game?
great video chaos alsways great to see wambu too, also i heard that filthy tien line:)
honestly I was surprised at 75m being the worst stage, but that's on me for not actually getting what the list is about, cause I have a lot more fun on 75m than pac land, but I do agree it's even harder to play on 75m. it's just, so absolutely awful that in some twist of fate it turns around into being enjoyable in the sense of giving up. sakurai takes the wheels, it's out of your hand, witness the brutality in front of you.
p.s. good list I had so many laughs
