I am 18 years old and I just got my own car a little over a year ago. The car is a bit on the old side, but it still has aux cord capabilities. The problem that I realized after I bought the car was that aux port didn't work. Luckily the car still had a CD player in it so all I had to do was scrounge around my dad's CD collection to find some tunes to play. As I scoured through CD case after CD case I found his Siamese Dream album and was captivated by the album cover and artwork on the top of the disk. I had heard of the SP's but had only ever heard Bullet with Butterfly Wings. Sure enough I popped the album into my car and instantly fell in love with it. Shortly after I began listening to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and eventually other albums like Gish and Zeitgeist. This band makes me feel emotions that very few other songs and artists have ever made me feel before. Whether it is a sense of rage, depression, nostalgia, or love within my heart and soul, the SP's works bring out and heighten those sensations and feelings within me. They are and will continue to be my favorite band. Mellon Collie is their one album that I am currently resonating with the most. Maybe I can connect to it since I just graduated high school and can feel whatever grasp on my childhood that I ever had left slowly slipping from me. 1979 puts a smile on my face when I drive around with my friends, but when I listen to it by myself I always nearly cry as I long for all the time I will never regain with people I may never see again. I can't explain or express everything I am feeling as I mature, but I just wanted to share the love and appreciation that I have for this band with the rest of the internet, and to express how I am looking forward to all the future works that the Smashing Pumpkins put out.

Ezekiel Somma I bought the album on cassette whilst vacationing in the states in 1993, having maybe seen 30 seconds of Today on MTV, two months later the tape had worn out and I saw them live in Australia, the first of 13 times.
hell yeah.. the kids are alright🤟 time moves on.. but, thanks to this music, there will always be moments (similar to my own in 1994) of connecting with art that is expressing emotions they hadn't heard conveyed in such positive ways before.. it opens up a new way forward, knowing others have felt like others too.. and that there are alternatives to alienation.. like transmuting those feelings into art that is uniquely your own while showing others they can own their own too 🤟
Beautiful to see Gen Z finding the pumpkins and loving them. Billy would be stoked! 1979 was my first SP song back in 1995 when I was 13, and it's still my favorite song of all time til this day!

This is the best song on CYR. Can't get it out of my head.
Anno Satana: Latin for “In the year of Satan” (contrast with Anno Domini or A.D. = In the year of our Lord). This episode seems to be reinforcing the idea that we’re at a crossroads. We can either choose the freedom of being fully who we were designed to be or we can choose to be enslaved to the enticing but artificial reality offered by the “god of this world.” A profound song with a sobering message. SP are back at the top of their game.
You have it the wrong way around it’s Satan in charge of the world right now which is why we are destroying it

I listened to Mellon Collie so much I can remember the smell of the CD lyric book. I only hope kids today get to have an experience with a band's music like that. It's that feeling that you'll have with you the rest of your life every time you hear that band and their songs. A feeling that'll have you coming back 20+ years later and waiting for their five-part animated series.

Diggin the new music. Brings me back to there older stuff. Billy's voice is the way I remembered It. But now a little older and a little wiser. But back to that older pumpkins style. I love it !!

Feeling nostalgic for the times. When the Pumpkins came out with Gish me and most of my friends believed it was the album and sound of the time. More than the grunge bands of the Seattle scene , the fuzzy guitar virtuosity of Billy and the jack hammer machine gun style of Jimmy to me was the new sound of the time that seemed to embody the feeling of gen Xers. The Pumpkins and Tool, with all do respect to Nirvana were the gems of that time. Music needs something like that now.

Agree 110% SP & Tool are the greatest bands of all time!! None has continued to put out new music over a 20-30 year span that is as good as either of them.

I've only seen them live once. Fucking tight band. Jimmy Chamberlin's drumming is out of this world! What a genius. Master at his craft. And Billy Corgan is a genius. They work so well together.

Cyr es un disco increíble, hace un par de semanas que lo oigo casi a diario de ppio. a fin y gana con cada escucha, si lo que se busca es un album con sencillos inmediatos o que suenen a los míticos riffs guitarreros que tan brillantemente han hecho en otros trabajos es posible que no sea el disco que màs emocione, si se escucha sin complejos y sin miedo a nuevos matices se disfruta y mucho. Personalmente creo que S.Pumpkins es de esos grupos que prefieren arriesgar a repetir la fórmula lo q puede hacerles perder y ganar adeptos. A mi me han convencido de sobra, me parece un discazo CRACKS!
Completamente de acuerdo, Corgan se reinventa en cada disco, a mí me gusta todo su material, aunque prefiero un disco de otro, éste creo que entraría en los que más me han gustado!

Best new Pumpkins music since Aeroplane. Really digging the vibe of these new songs.
I know Billy's been in a good place mentally for awhile now, but a lot of the newer music felt a little too upbeat and positive for my liking( a lot of stuff on Oceania and Teargarden for example) so it's cool to hear the band back in a darker direction again.
Can't wait for the new album!

I like the way he sings on this track. Isn’t trying to sing and compete against his natural voice make it due what it can’t. Early work when billy said he he didn’t like his singing or as confident .... the emotions really came through beautifully. This track is alittle back to that I find. Less voice lessons and more just authentic! Like the little guitar riff throughout that carries the song along. This will grow more on me. Couldn’t get into CYR ... but color of your love was a hit out of the park !
