Some of Jimmy's best drumming. I met him by chance. Just a typical day of work as a painter. When we got to the job I just started working as usual. We were painting his kitchen and his wife said something about my husband is on a fishing trip. Well, on the second day of work Jimmy came home. Didn't recognize him at all(Shame). We just started talking about his fishing trip because I am an addicted fisherman too. After a while I asked him about the guitar in the corner of his living room. He replied "yeah I mess around with it a little bit but I'm a drummer by trade". " I just said okay nice, are you're a teacher at a drum clinic or maybe a college ? He was very humble and replied..." I'm actually the drummer for The Smashing Pumpkins". Obviously I was in shock, and kind of embarrassed that I didn't recognize him because I love the Smashing Pumpkins when I was growing up in the '80s. Long story short. he was such a genuine person. Also, the pictures he showed me of the smallmouth he caught in Montana were incredible. Overall it was an incredible experience thanks Jimmy !!!! Sorry I didn't ask you for your autograph, I was too much in awe ✌️
Ive also met jimmy on a few occasions, once while seeing his jazz band play at a small bar in chicago called the green mill i was waiting in line for the mens room and happened to be standing next to his place onstage (its an awkwardly cramped place) and we got to talking about my appreciation for him and without prompting he stood up and gave me a hug.... i also met him at a restaurant where i was his server. The perks of being a chicagoan? But he was supremely humble and down to earth and he remains a hero of mine both musically and as a person.
Jimmy Chamberlin is a modern marvel. First, he's an incredible drummer. One of the best drummers working today in rock and roll. Period. He has Bonham chops and a jazz man's sense of flow and dynamics. He also has a brilliant business mind when it comes to tech and social media marketing. He's also well-known as just a hell of a good guy. His story about the trappings of fame, drugs, addiction and, ultimately, redemption is also inspirational. I've saw him perform with the Pumpkins on the same night as I saw Chris Sharrock play with Noel Gallaher (I refuse to call the "High Flying Birds" a band, because it's a Noel solo project with incredible backing musicians, including the amazing Mike Rowe, Gem Archer and Chris). It was the most spectacular drumming tour de force I have ever witnessed in a single night. If you don't know Chris Sharrock's work, check it out. He's brilliant, and Neil Peart, the late drummer for Rush, even name checked him as an influence during Chris's Icicle Works days.

Lol. Love the look on Billys face when the mine artist gives birth to an imaginary baby. Great song. And great to see the three of them back together again. Doubt we will ever have d'arcy back though.
Okay, I pretty much think it all means that Corgan is in a world he doesn't recognize anymore, where he can't make sense of its meaning of the way it should go. Also, the video is hilarious.

I think Billy was in an institute because he wouldn't paint his face black and white and be as crazy as everyone else. Kind of like Madmen by David Bowie where the world is so crazy that the sane people can't even fit in anymore and just give in to incarceration.
Its almost like a part 2 of the Ava Adore video - just years later. I think he steps out of the institution (could be the music /pop culture industry) to find that "normal" life is even more F%^&ked up, to the extent that he voluntarily returns to the looney bin that is the music industry.
It's so cool. It actually feels like a video from 1995 showing Billy Corgan characterized as an old version of himself. Done by some Beck video director.
Idc what anyone says. Smashing pumkins are and always will be the one of the greatest rock groups of my era an continues to rock. Fuk what they youngsters say.
saw them yesterday, was maybe 10 rows of humans back from billie, it was ethereal, and HEAVY....really melodic and strong, just feeling good today about revisting old ideas and memories from 1990s and having new epiphanies as well. amazing
2:15 - my face every time i go back to the gay bar. the song's really grown on me. fan since '93, but pretty critical of some SP/BC releases. (looking at you, monuments...). imo Solara would fit in the MCIS running order.
I stopped listening to the radio about 15 yrs ago. It felt like there was too much control over the industry. Singers and songwriters seemed to be forced to go in the direction of what would make the record companies money. The 90’s in my opinion were some of the absolute best talents and soul. Some 90’s bands conformed and failed. Hearing these new songs are a beautiful reminder of the best days of the 90’s, made me feel like a kid again and brought back memories that I had forgotten. Thank you. I still won’t turn the radio on. Id much rather buy the album. Thanks for staying true.
Billy Corgan looking at milleniall stuff going "I used to be with it, but then they changed what ‘it’ was, and now what I’m with isn’t it. And what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary to me.”
I'm not entirely sure what the hell is going on, but I think I can provide some insight into a couple of things. Notice what Billy's wearing. His black sweater and silver skirt are reminiscent of the black zero shirt and silver pants he wore back in the Mellon Collie days. However, instead of the word "Zero", the word has become the number and it is hanging around his neck like a dog's collar. The three girls leading him around with the chain seem to symbolize how he is held down to that image. When he tries to break free of it, it's like him trying to break free of the past and find new creative ground. He walks around outside and sees people that might as well be faux Pumpkins fans looking at him wondering "what is he doing outside of where we expected him to be"? Ultimately, despite him being free, he ultimately finds himself back where he started, imprisoned by the past, and it is a never ending cycle. Still trying to figure out what those wrestlers are and the guy spitting blood. Maybe a commentary on how musical corporatism has dictated Corgan's path and he wants to break free of that?
It really goes back to the Siamese dream era!! So great to see James and Jimmy back!! Jimmy's return to nice snappy snare rolls are a very welcome addition to hear again since 92-95 era of the band!!! Great tune!!
Symbolic analysis has several phases, remember there is symbolic analysis, psychological and many and many others, it's free for interpretation, personal and can be whatever you want, if this clip does not make any sense to you then it's not. Be happy with all chewed stuff you get. Thanks to Giuliano Camiolo and Max Derrat for your good insights. Let's start! The beggining is like Ava Adore with differente position with no confidence and lost. Clothes like Bullet with Butterfly Wings. Colar in the Neck (Number ZERO). Drone in a Cage (Rat wanting to evolve but still in a cage). Dream picture (Like a Meme) Don´t be afraid of the space between your dreams and reality. If you can dream it, you can make it so. Darc'y, Cortney and Ginger come (Inspirational muses, can be Melissa why not, who give him serum to forget the problem's of the past). Serum - Trauma - Vape Juice - XXX-TREME ( Fighting his traumas of the past to create something new ) White Strong Jason (Fear) Fountain with water and four places (Original Band) with pure inspiration. Butler spitting blood (Who should be serving is taking away the purity of the band). James Iha (Problem of the Past) Washing his hands in the fountain of blood. It is not part of the server's criticism and won't do now. Jeff and Jimmy playing old game (Wasting Time) Floor and Table (Like Clockwork Orange It´s important after that) Jeff's jacket shows that chain is loose, that he can do whatever he wants. Behind in the jacket is the hand of glory (Having the power to open any lock in the vicinity is a atribute to the hand) coincidence he find the chain loose and walk out the door, I do not think so. Inspirational muse with the drone flying over is still attached to it (showing that it is not yet fully released). Mimic Room with Guns: Mimics pretend that this is real and important and pretend to protect the invisible baby. Invisible baby (Pretending to create something new but nothing, just pretense for the new public that is represented with gothic clown painting) Painting in the room seems like the old clip for ZERO e Tonight. Room with Glowing Lights: New artists (Same House with Glowing Lights "Opportunity: You never know whats on the other side") Remember the milk: The Korova Milk Bar (korova is Russian for "cow") appears in the novel and film A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. It is a twisted version of a milk bar which serves milk laced with drugs ("moloko plus"). The protagonist and narrator Alex lists some of the fictitious ingredients one can request: vellocet (Russian for amphetamines), synthemesc (synthetic mescalines), drencrom (adrenochrome). For the ingredient drencrom, he uses the phrase (drink the milk) "with knives in it," as it "would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence". By serving milk instead of alcohol, the bar is able to serve minors. Taking sunshine from artificial light (Not the real inspiration) Dancer and ballerinas of toys (New toys for the young also serves for the drone). KKK with black clothes in the car (Represents fear in the new clothes) He faces you to be afraid to leave out) Old lady watering the plant while strong man is trying to cut with a sword the ends of the branch (The old trying to care and the new trying to destroy something real. Fat old man in the pool, it could be Billy if he did not do anything now, and girl with dark mascara and gothic dolls. Ever watched Silence of the Lambs? Make your analysis. Girl in bambole and man with blood splashes smiling. Ever watched American Pyscho? Make your analysis. Barbecue with fish and milk. (Today's people like to show themselves that they are so scary and like heavy and dense things, the fashion nowadays is to show that you go through many problems. Fish = Christianity (Also a symbolic religion) Finding the house and finds it's the same place. How to escape the limitations of your own mind if the outside world seems so meaningless and does not seem to want to make room for someone new.
I was never much of a SP fan back in the day, but Wow!, this song is so good - I love the main hook. I just listened to this and the other new track "Silvery Sometimes". I really like them both, would happily buy a new album if one is coming out with these two tracks on it.
Chris Teuma They are using the same colored pieces So perhaps it symbolizes Jimmy and Jeff working together to make a connection musically with the fans.

This is great! And this video is already a classic! So happy Billy has started doing some really inspired music again... :)
Billy Scissorhands, I love it ♥️
Their Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour is amazingggggg!!!! Saw them live in Boston 7/31/18! Incredible! Best show I have ever seen!!! And just saw the LiveStream in Seattle last night! Can not wait until the new album release 🎃😼
This video is so "Ava Adore"
I met her in the 90's
English: The man takes the opportunity to escape to the outside because he is fed up with what surrounds him and for his surprise everything outside is just as fucked up in the same way, so he decides to go back inside, hahaha, terrific concept of this video and great song too, thanks Billy!..
Jimmy still has those hands! 3:23 is especially nice. You don't just get enough flams these days.
Ryan Boyce absolutely my ears focus on his drumming every time I listen to them.
Coolest music video in years you guys are awesome!
It's good to have you back, Jimmy. I'll see you June 11th!
This is a really good song, the drumming is amazing, overall tone and sound is great! Guitar, basically every part of this song is perfect!
"Jimmy it's time to film"
"Not now I'm about to pwn Jeff at connect four"
"Ugh fine just roll the camera"
Did you notice all the pieces were black?
Sideoutside It must mean something....
Burn down the sun

High and dry
Nothing but a body in my mind
I'm here to stay
They're here today
High and dry
Nothing but a body in my mind

I feel that something ain't right
No fear but reasons that I can't cite
Tear down the sun
Bring down the sun
I'm not everyone
I'm not everyone

Unholy sin
Unholy fate
High and dry
Nothing but a body in mind
I'm left to ash
They're here but past
High and dry
Nothing but a body in mind
I am nothing but a body in my mind
I feel that something ain't right
No fear but reasons that I can't cite
Tear down the sun
Bring down the sun
I'm not everyone
I'm not everyone, I'm not everyone
Burn down the sun
Speculation
Come on, get yourself together
Speculation
Become the owl at midnight
Situation
I am the seer, I am the seeker
Situation
Become the one that fights you
Become the one that fights you
Become the owl at midnight
Become the owl at midnight
I'm high and dry
I'm ash faded signs
I'm sun-filled, bright
I am nothing but a body in my mind
I am nothing but a body in my mind
Tear down the sun
Bring down the sun
I'm not everyone
I'm not everyone
Burn down the sun
Saw a RUclips video by the drummer highlighting his drums and he mentioned "Solara," so I had to take a listen. LOVE THE DRUMS! Great stick control!
They're back!
I don't know what any of it means but it certainly made me watch the whole thing
so true hahahah
I think Billy was in an institute because he wouldn't paint his face black and white and be as crazy as everyone else. Kind of like Madmen by David Bowie where the world is so crazy that the sane people can't even fit in anymore and just give in to incarceration.
Matt Sevrens Plato's Allegory of the Cave en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegory_of_the_Cave
Its almost like a part 2 of the Ava Adore video - just years later. I think he steps out of the institution (could be the music /pop culture industry) to find that "normal" life is even more F%^&ked up, to the extent that he voluntarily returns to the looney bin that is the music industry.
it means that u r just a rat in a cage
I love the over-all messages that this band goes for. I love you Smashing Pumpkins.
I love Billy expressions!
His reactions are hilarious in this.
It's so cool. It actually feels like a video from 1995 showing Billy Corgan characterized as an old version of himself. Done by some Beck video director.
About damn time some good rock came out..
Its the pumpkins, though...
They had to show these youngsters how to rock 😃
this is not a good pumpkins song
good music still comes out every once in a while
ruclips.net/video/GhPzvMEI6U4/видео.html
Speculation situation..
Idc what anyone says. Smashing pumkins are and always will be the one of the greatest rock groups of my era an continues to rock.
Fuk what they youngsters say.
I'm certainly a youngster and I absolutely love Smashing Pumpkins.. But unfortunately I think this song is shit compared to anything before Zeitgeist
This song is righteous. Do me a favor and listen to it 4-5 times. It gets better with each listening.
true, i already listened 5 thousend times
@@subburbia yes, just discovered this song and i can´t stop listening
saw them yesterday, was maybe 10 rows of humans back from billie, it was ethereal, and HEAVY....really melodic and strong, just feeling good today about revisting old ideas and memories from 1990s and having new epiphanies as well. amazing
MINDBLOWIN im so happy they're back. Im a huge fan! Damn this is so cool
One of their greatest videos, love it, it's perfect, very dark
I’m in love with song!
0:07 Send in the D`arcys!
BUAHAHAHA!!!!!!
Little Bill is mocking her B-)
they made me think about courtney love, specially the first one
😂💔
KatarnCrusader I thought the same lol
Pretty damn good!
After 30 years of making incredible good music the Pumpkins are still more powerful than many actual bands:-)
So smashing pumpkins isn’t a band?
Fun fact that's Billy's son at around 3:53 Agustus
Choo!
I knew it was augustus juppiter.....
@@mikemarquez4377 what a fucking name
@@christiangasior4244 .....oh am sorry if my name offends you.
@@mikemarquez4377 Oh I'm sorry, friend. I was talking about Billy's son's name. Augustus Jupiter. Billy is an odd person.
Better each time I listen to it
That is the most intense game of Connect 4 I've ever seen take place. love the song & vidio
Went to their concert in July in Phx and they are coming back this Fri to Mesa, Phx suburb. Going again and super excited!
Billy Corgan looking at milleniall stuff going "I used to be with it, but then they changed what ‘it’ was, and now what I’m with isn’t it. And what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary to me.”
W
I think he's felt that way from the beginning. No need to bring a generation into it, bud.
EXCELLENT SONG THANKS SMASHING PUMPKINS!!! WELCOME TO MÉXICO!! 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
siii
Que vengan a Monterrey
Pamela Araiza Maldonado a huevo viva smashing pumpkins.👍
¡Sí! A la CDMX
wow. still great. can't wait to see you all Roc it in August! Thanks for another pilled music video. well done. bravo. this whole time..
Excellent show last night at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville CT. Just over a 3 hour show, a David Bowie cover and a Led Zep cover. AWESOME!!
arevfan I saw them couple days ago. It was goood. Dude tried getting on stage. Wrestled like 5 security guards.
Oh shit! Hi Max!
That interpretation makes a lot of sense.
No
The 3 girls with the chain look like someone we know... Hum... What's her name... ;)
It pretty much means that Billy Corgan feels that doesn't recognize the world anymore.
hmmm good insight (y)
I'm rediscovering the smashing pumpkins, really enjoying this "new" stuff.
NICE COMEBACK, IV BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR AW LONG TIME !
Why are there only 2.7 million views for this masterpiece of both video and song? Billy’s right, I can’t make sense of things anymore.
It really goes back to the Siamese dream era!! So great to see James and Jimmy back!! Jimmy's return to nice snappy snare rolls are a very welcome addition to hear again since 92-95 era of the band!!! Great tune!!
I'm so happy that SP is back 💓
Love your hard work and dedication Billy. Thanks.
the cinematography of their vids are outrageously amazing, color me impressed🥺
One of my best underated songs from the pumpkins
Serum - Trauma - Vape Juice - XXX-TREME ( Fighting his traumas of the past to create something new )
White Strong Jason (Fear)
Fountain with water and four places (Original Band) with pure inspiration.
Butler spitting blood (Who should be serving is taking away the purity of the band).
James Iha (Problem of the Past) Washing his hands in the fountain of blood.
It is not part of the server's criticism and won't do now.
Jeff and Jimmy playing old game (Wasting Time)
Floor and Table (Like Clockwork Orange It´s important after that)
Jeff's jacket shows that chain is loose, that he can do whatever he wants. Behind in the jacket is the hand of glory (Having the power to open any lock in the vicinity is a atribute to the hand) coincidence he find the chain loose and walk out the door, I do not think so.
Inspirational muse with the drone flying over is still attached to it (showing that it is not yet fully released).
Mimic Room with Guns:
Mimics pretend that this is real and important and pretend to protect the invisible baby.
Invisible baby (Pretending to create something new but nothing, just pretense for the new public that is represented with gothic clown painting)
Painting in the room seems like the old clip for ZERO e Tonight.
Room with Glowing Lights:
New artists (Same House with Glowing Lights "Opportunity: You never know whats on the other side")
Remember the milk:
The Korova Milk Bar (korova is Russian for "cow") appears in the novel and film A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess.
Taking sunshine from artificial light (Not the real inspiration)
Dancer and ballerinas of toys (New toys for the young also serves for the drone).
KKK with black clothes in the car (Represents fear in the new clothes) He faces you to be afraid to leave out)
Old lady watering the plant while strong man is trying to cut with a sword the ends of the branch (The old trying to care and the new trying to destroy something real.
Fish = Christianity (Also a symbolic religion)
Finding the house and finds it's the same place.
How to escape the limitations of your own mind if the outside world seems so meaningless and does not seem to want to make room for someone new.
Wow.
This needs to come back to their live sets
This video is AWESOME
Wow. Kudos to the Director. Well done.
These 90 type videos are coming back and they are truly missed. First glassjaws now pumpkins. So happy
Wellcome James Iha and your Riff
this whole comment thread just made my IQ drop 40 points
Beautifully bizarre. Music is clever. I get Kurt goose bumps when he sings “I’m not everyone”
Goosen Goosebumps
It took me a while, but I love this. They're back!!
Really impressed not enough good rock coming out!
Ghost are a terrible band
That I 100%agree with old rock was so much better
this is a great song actually
An unsettling, yet equally captivating video. The song itself is one of my all-time favorites from them.
I was never much of a SP fan back in the day, but Wow!, this song is so good - I love the main hook. I just listened to this and the other new track "Silvery Sometimes". I really like them both, would happily buy a new album if one is coming out with these two tracks on it.
It is coming out in November.
I hope they still haven't shown the best song of the album. I mean these two songs are good but I don't think they are as good as 1979.
Totally waiting for the next video to drop
# pumpkins will never die
This is just awesome. Ive been addicted to watching this daily fo about a month. Awesome. Addictive.
This is a great video. Solid symbolism, with deep meaning. Thankful for you bringing the world new original music and art.
What was the Connect 4™ about?
Chris Teuma They are using the same colored pieces So perhaps it symbolizes Jimmy and Jeff working together to make a connection musically with the fans.
Darcy would be the fourth if they connected
I agrre, its clearly a modern myth cave by plato
Billy never gives up. Even if his band members all leave man truly loves music and art. Relatable work
