I've taken apart several headlights, The best way i think is to use a heatgun, go all around frame. Then do one side and use a flathead or something plastic to wedge in there. Continually heat and it'll SLOWLY come out (just twist the flathead to help it).
@@thongvu4281 I did it with a heatgun and an old cardboard box. i placed the box on its end, and cut a hole in the bottom, and then stuck a oven thermometer in the middle of the box. then just waited about 20 minutes. and keept an eye on the temp. about 80-90 celsius. if it gets hotter, you can just move the heatgun a bit away. :D (taped of all lifting holes in the box too btw)
Honestly man I love your vids. I want to get an Evo 8/9 when I get back from Japan and keep my 4 as a show car. You are giving me so many ideas and the level of detail and quality of your vids are top notch. Keep it up and I see you hitting that 100k mark real soon 💪🏼
Yes!! Doing the headlights on my w204 c63 amg. Matte black housing and some other stuff not figured out yet but I really like the black spyder e60 m5 headlights design. A clear but black theme
You should offer this as a service to people bro, you done an amazing job im sure theres people out there whod want to change their headlights but are afraid to do so/dont like the look of a lot of thr aftermarket options
You can always paint that clear piece amber with stained glass paint. On my old IS300, I painted the highbeams yellow, the bezels black, and then the clear signal piece amber and it looked absolutely beautiful 👌🏼
Thanks for the video, you showed how to do each of the steps and followed up with how much better the lights look after your work on them. Just my opinion but I really like the combo of the paint and lights in each different phase. Very well done!
DAAAAMN!!! LOOKING SICK!! Those headlights really set off your 8!! You have serious talent! Love your videos!! Always looking forward to seeing what's next!! Keep up the grind!! Thanks!!
@Devin good tip, just get amber translucent film, and cut it and stick it over the indicator area, it works amazing, did it on mine, and it's held up 2 years now
Looks good but i don't think that black coat is going to hold up too well with a bit heat , i would have rubbed them down with 2000 grit or steel wool . Have to give the paint the best chance of adhesion or after a while it will just flake off into the bottom of the light.
Hey dude, can you demonstrate how to install a rear windshield motor and wiperarm for it, i know this is something off this video but no one will better explain how you does, thanks in advance and by the way i don't have it on my evo 9 GSR by default and willing to add into it
I love the cinematography. So well edited. Kudos young man. Wow! 30 miles an hour on "Your" backroads sure looks alot faster than in my neck of the woods!! ;) Nice ride. Be safe. Cheers
Amazing job on those headlights bro! Will definitely try those on my prelude head lights, but i'll keep my evo's stock haha and restoration! Awesome vid!
Cool, I have a 95 Cadillac Eldorado Coup, Metallic Polo green, and I have been wanting to do something with the headlights, but I cannot even find an updated version, any ideas?
Can’t wait to see this car in person. It’s come a long way and still has many more things to come. Dope content Devin keep it up bro!!! Let us so-cal enthusiasts know when ur coming down but only if u bring the Evo8 tho lol. #FULLSNED
I recently had my headlights customized and had the housing shroud painted black and now I see alot of pitting on my lens. Is there something I can do to remove all the pitting ?
Since pitting implies that something has already been removed I'd say no. Only solution is sand down to the level of the pits or fill them in. New lenses or lamp assembly would likely be easier.
Not my cup of tea man, but more power to you for modding it to suit your tastes. That's what makes the car scene cool...the individual touches. Keep at it! As always, haters are gonna hate.
What would have looked good is if you extended the blue onto the lip of the little valance plastic piece but still had the edge of the valance piece black
Use ammonia to remove the chrome. It works. Just let it soak for about 12-24 hours, and it will be gone. You still have a gloss finish to deal with, but no more chrome. Just use a little fine grit sand to get rid of the gloss, and you are ready to go.
Awesome video dude! Appreciate how thorough you explained each step and why you were doing everything. Super dope results too... question though: after the buffing the lenses, what do you use to seal them so they don't oxidize/yellow real quick again after?
Great video. My buddy is doing his we keep having trouble with the dupli color paint. It keeps cracking in the bowls. We tryed sanding chrome a little then the primer then adhesive promoter then matt black. Seems cut & dry but cracks up every time. Even had new bowls sent & they are doing it also. Does duplicolor have a special trick to it? I'm ready to looe my shit on them idk what were doing wrong. Been painting them for 2 weeks & I'm over it any advice would be awesome. Thank u.
Can we quickly calrify... 200 Degrees Farenheit!! Heard horror stories of people in countries who use celsius melting headlights into goop! :)
come to the metric side water freezes at 0 and boils at 100 its all logical here.

haha..you so right, it look like they own it, why?
in most states, blue or red in front of any vehicle is reserved for state agency/emergency response vehicles

Those lights are dope as hell 🔥
You a genius wit the headlight it looks so dope luv it keep it coming
I like how devin does all the stuff by himself and not from any shops, the real definition of built not bought! 👌🏻🔥
While I’m not a huge fan of the blue, I think overall you did a killer job of refurbishing and customizing the headlight!
Shouldn’t you spray clear coat on headlight after buffing to prevent oxidation again?
No. You should apply something like Meguiars headlight coating, which is specifically made to protect acrylic headlight lenses from yellowing.
Paulo Fagundes Oh ok- thank you!
You can spray clear coat but it will eventually fade and peel. Some people ceramic coat them don’t know if that would be better.
Joshua Mitch yea I’ve heard stories about the clear coat cracking headlights... didn’t realize there were products out there designed for coating them
Paulo Fagundes cool
Hell yea ! headlights turned out noice! Im going to do mine right now.
Very very sick my friend. Well done.
That's a beautiful car. Black and blue light go very well together.

Wow Bro......They look sick. Excellent work!!!
Usually color lights make JDM cars look ricey but the black on that EVO is flawless....Nice car, Devin! :)
They look really good and fit the rest of the car. If you did some black wire loom to cover the extra wire it could almost look factory.

Are these mods not legal?
@@KuyaJahred not necessarily illegal but you are required to have an amber light.

Very cool finished product
Awesome video great content and thanks for sharing what you use for your creations
not bad at all. Hope that blue paint doesn't burn from the hi-beams heat!
That looks so 🔥🔥🔥😍👌
When you turn on your high beams does the blue from paint reflect into the headlights beam?
Thinking on buying red but don’t want too much to the shine with headlights on
Looks really good, nice work man!
They look awesome dude! Thanks for the ideas.

That is one of the coolest light mods I've seen!
Do you have any vids or pics of the evo with the headlights on?

What kind of glue do you used to glued the headlights

Dang Devin, great job on the headlights! We are impressed.
What did you do to reseal the light lenses back to the housing
Awesome stuff man! The headlights look great.
Is there anyway you can let me know if I can get my lights pre made for a 1998 Chevy Tahoe and if so can you recommend me to a place?🤔
I can send you where I got mine done, they're a little pricey though

doing great! that ionized blue is dope
Great job brother
I did this exact headlight mod except in anodized red and I jdm'd the turn signal in amber came out awesome

how you remove the yellowish from inside?
Hi i have a quick question the blue paint you did it for a high beam or low beam??
Great video dude! But the condition of that orange foam pad on the drill will haunt my dreams
Hey! Is it possible to do this for a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac?

apply the film on the headlight. that film prevents headlights plastic from getting blurry

what do you do to make the lens have those rainbow tints

Awesome job!

I used Dupli-color Acrylic Lacquer protective clearcoat on mine. 2-3 coats and a year later you couldn't see any sign of yellowing on the lenses.
@@transtubular nice! Thank you sir, that helps
