    Thanks for continuing to share your credit card strategies and experiences. It's a nice refresher from all the channels talking about mostly cards with high annual fees that also spend large amounts and get value out of them much easier. I'm fortunate enough to be able to have to annual fees waived by most major issuers (AD military) but if this weren't the case, I would definitely go with a more simplified strategy like yours of low/no annual fee cash back cards.

    Love the content and your production quality makes the videos a pleasure to watch. What’s your backup if BOA nerfs their system (as they have sent out customer surveys about possible changes...)? MR cashed out via Schwab could work well for your non-bonus category spend. Still 2.5% return (from BBP/Schwab platinum), but with additional transfer partner options and more earning incentives (like the +3MR referral bonus a few months back and the $25 back per $500 business card offer now).

    • @HeythereDavehere
      @HeythereDavehere  3 года назад

      I'm really hoping BofA doesn't change it... if they do I'll need to reevaluate everything but yes the 2.5% via BBP/Schwab would be one that I consider. Also hoping to see the X1 card released... and maybe even the Gemini card?

    A little surprised you don’t run the Amex gold with plat Schwab set up. 5% back on grocery’s and dining. The changes they made with Uber/Grubhub credits basically bring the annual fee to $10 year.

    • @HeythereDavehere

      If I spent enough on groceries to justify the gold annual fee it would make sense... maybe if they end up keeping delivery credits and if I keep using delivery in 2021. I'll keep an eye on it... but for dining my BofA 5.25% with no annual fee is better for me

    You know what sucks about credit card points? It's the vendor who pays the points. Your premium card costs credit card accepting businesses 3-4%, vs 1.8% for a debit card. So don't thank your bank -- it isn't Chase or Citi or Amex who is giving you your Cash Back -- it's the businesses that you purchased from, and they didn't have a choice to opt out. It sucks for vendors. Great for consumers. Meh.

      Way to go Kara! Apple is my favorite company for a lot of reasons... I’m a little disappointed with the card only being 3% but think of it this way: if I use the installment feature and say, buy a $1000 iPhone paid monthly over 2 years but put $1000 in Apple stock for those 2 years, historically I’ll have done way better than making a little more cash back!

    Wow this is impressive! Although its great that food delivery apps are giving you cash back, I'd urge you to buy directly from restaurants cause these food delivery apps take up to 30% and eat into many restaurant profits and they are already running on slim margins.. As we've seen in 2020, many restaurants closed or were struggling and continue to struggle so I try to buy direct as much as I can to keep them alive :)

    • @HeythereDavehere
      @HeythereDavehere  3 года назад

      Very true! A couple of my best friends & business partners own a restaurant and don't use any of the "marketplace" services like Doordash since the fees are so high and the margins for food are so low. Buy local & buy direct when you can! Some services (like Favor) will deliver anything and don't charge the business.

    • @HeythereDavehere
      @HeythereDavehere  3 года назад

      Yes, probably. The only caveats: the 3% (which becomes 5.25%) is limited to $2500 per quarter, so I’d probably need to get 2 more of these cards and be mindful of when I was nearing the $2500 threshold every quarter. Also I’m not sure if their fine print limits the number of accounts you can have... multiple cards seems to be against the spirit of their quarterly limitation and they might claw back rewards... anyone know for sure? Also I kinda like the no-interest installments on apple products. I’m making more than the 2.25% having that money invested in the stock market 😉

    Just wondering if the schwab platinum got the 10x multiplier that the regular platinum got for the first few months of 2021

    • @HeythereDavehere
      @HeythereDavehere  3 года назад

      I believe there was a 10x points on some categories (gas? Maybe more?) but I didn’t spend on any 10x categories. Just the 5x travel and phone/streaming credits

    The Amex Platinum also has a $30 PayPal credit per month this year. I'm getting a ton of value from that card. Amex just might replace Chase as my go to ecosystem.

    I loved my Amazon card, however after a month of use it was randomly closed and the customer support guy couldn't tell me why. My credit score is over 800, I make 120k, and I had spent a few grand already on the card. Any idea why it would be closed out of the blue like this?
