Bid on Mike Portnoy's signed drum kit: www.ebay.com/itm/Mike-Portnoy-Autographed-Kids-Drum-Kit-Loudwire/293471116893
All proceeds will go toward the American Brain Tumor Association
As funny as this was I wish we could’ve seen him play a real kit afterwards. This left me ... unsatisfied
People always talked about Mike Portnoy replacing Neil after he retired. I was always frustrated as no one can replace the master. HOWEVER, I do believe he is the ONLY one who should.
Used: An item that has been used previously. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended.
*snickers in Hello Kitty kit*
Current bid is only $1160.
Mike should play a drum made of recycled material found in trash. That would motivate thousands and thousands of poor kids around the world to start playing something.
Next time bring him a real kit, BUT the kick sound is altered by a duct-taped rubber chicken.
Jimiakos yes YES
Cole Dockter... Credit the man dude
@@thebatman1482 I actually forgot where I got the idea from. Thanks for reminding me.
Everybody go watch his "rubber chicken bleed video".
@@Jimiakos Haha thanks man!
Jimiakos 😂😂😂
Close your eyes and suddenly he's playing the St. Anger kit.
You don't have to close your eyes.
@@melodyhough3980 this reply was funnier than the original comment haha
Sounds better to me
Lmao! That ain’t no lie
😂😂 damn' you're so right!!!
Somewhere in heaven “The Professor” is laughing hysterically...
💕😇💕
Peart was an atheist so by his beliefs he wouldn’t be in heaven but I agree he’s laughing wherever he may be
@@nathankennedy4263 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭exactly😭😭😭
@@nathankennedy4263 He was nonreligious..not exactly atheist
😭
Can’t tell if mike is just having fun or actually throwing a fit lol
Knowing him, probably both
He was enjoying it the whole time. No fits.
To him, throwing a fit is what he calls a good time
Yes
I know this is comedy, but I can't help feel sad about Peart's death. Neil was such a great drummer, and nobody can honor him better than Mike Portnoy.
"Remove Mr. Foot from the room" 😂
That snare sounds like st anger
ping ping ping ping ping ping XD
😂😂
i wouldnt be surprised if lars’ replaced his drum kit with this for that album
As a long time drummer, fan of both Portnoy and Peart, and someone who lost his brother to Glioblastoma Multiforme (same cancer Neil had), I love and appreciate this video. For its humor continuing off his other kid's set videos and his message at the end. Thank you Loudwire and Mr. Mike Portnoy.
Spirit of Radio sounded THAT GOOD on that crap. MP is awesome.
It's not About the instrument. It's who weilds it same can be said for fire arms
Was gonna make the same comment. spirit of radio was not bad at all.
It's amazing how he can make that kit sound that good
I can only imagine Geddy and Alex laughing their asses off at this. Guys with a great sense of humor.
Thank you for this loudwire. And Mike. I'm 59. Rush is my favorite band blah blah blah. I barely begun to process Neil's death. This was beautiful. He would have loved it.
I'm 48. Still not over it. Neil is gone but i hope alex and geddy liked this.
Why is there a quote from Alex's Rock Hall of Fame acceptance speech in there?
@@aji_jacobson Nice catch.
Mike, you are exactly what the doctor ordered after a lot of tears. And, apart from the therapeutic benefit of laughter, auctioning off the drumkit (complete with autograph and boot marks) in favour of the American Brain Tumor Association is so noble. Your friend and hero, Neil, would wholeheartedly approve all of this for sure. Thank you, thank you, hugs to everyone.
That's why I love Mike. He's a very cool, friendly guy. He gladly signed my ride cymbal when we've met some years ago in Montreal, during his Dream Theater years. We both share the love of drumming, and our mentor was indeed the great Neil Peart (RIP).
He chucked in a little Nigel Tufnel! “Who’s in here? No one...”
Im not a drummer, But I appreciate the years of inspiration that Neil has given us throughout his career. Till death do us Peart'
Thank you for this Mike! As a HUGE Rush fan I enjoyed this tribute and had some great laughs watching you drum some classics on that kit...haha! I lost my Dad when he was 55 to brain cancer so thanks for donating the proceeds to Brain cancer research. You Rock!
never even tried to play anything Mike does but I love him, he is good and hilarious
"I will rise above"
*breaks floor tom and cymbal* 😂😂
We cannot take seriously those who take themselves seriously.
My personal quote from now on
Should of ended with Mike on a real set playing his favourite Rush song.
Mathius87 dude, what is “should of”.. it’s ‘should’ve’ or ‘should have’
@@DavieDrum98 Damn! How did I not notice? I need to read up on my use of the language. Thanks for the heads up. I try to do better.
@@Mathius87 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@Mathius87 haha, beware the Grammer Nazi with no life
@@Mathius87 wow you reacted appropriately to a comment. You're one in a million on the internet..
Also, I was really hoping to see him crush a song on a real kit at the end.
Going to watch Neil Peart videos now....
The Rage! The instrumentation! Andddd....stumping the crew. This is good stuff. Hail Neil. Thanks Mike
Mr.Portnoy is one cool dude.
He's always seemed really cool in these videos.
Is a toc
We love ❤️ Mike
Jason Heilinger 😂🤣😂🤣😂
@Jason Heilinger he used to play for dream theatre but idk what he's doing now
"Were gonna start easy"
Starts playing cygnus x-1 lol
It's easy for any rush head he must mean
Totally cool!!!! I think Neil would love that artists are using his memory to make people laugh and support a great cause. I think the humor is so well placed. Thanks Mike for lending your celebrity to a great cause in the name of a great person.
Always wait for those "technical difficulty" moments!
I love his Dekkar shirt. That was a great show
Special agent Jack Decker: yes Mr President 😙
Dekkar was tims band, the show was different!
@@JeffWizniak yes but they shamelessly promoted Jack Decker's band Dekkar on the show
5 bags of popcorn and a little more cowbell
was??
"Serenity Now!" is that a Seinfeld reference?
Pier Luigi Fiorini
It’s an AA prayer I believe
Yes it definitely is... Frank Costanza rules... And was on the R30 intro... And any wise talented person ( hello Mike!) would quote it. Love you, Mike..
RIP Neil... 💜😔
I always think of Seinfeld when I hear that
Insanity later. Lol
I thought he was referring to The Shattered Fortress, from his Twelve Step Suite, where he wrote “I live with ‘serenity now’, not self-righteous hate” lol
the best thing is the beautiful boom mic on the left to pick up all the nuance of this drum set.
My two biggest musical influences in my drumming. Peart and Portnoy! Love it!
Thank you so much Mike Portnoy, for making missing the Professor a little brighter. I started playing drums 45 years ago,in large part because of Mr Peart; and I've also thoroughly enjoyed Dream theater over all these years! As a bonus, we've all just learned how to properly play YYZ! 😎
you can see how emotional he is yet trying to hold it together
Love the constant mental breakdown
Lol , in tears Mike, gotta love a drummer who will go this far
Please...in honor of such a legendary drummer like Neil peart..please give him a good drum set to perform
Love Neil, love mike, love that mike loves Neil. RIP man
2:57 can't stop laughing
The Spinal Tap and Seinfeld sub-references alone make the video. A nice, quirky tribute for a good cause too.
Lol the spinal tap reference “I’m a professional, Ill rise above it”
Bring back zakk wylde ok the 1962 hello kitty special for a little acoustic gig pleaseeee
Come on loudwire it's 2022, bring him back
“and who’s over here? no one!”
great movie
Loved the Spinal Tap reference. Delightful!
Why not record the next Sons of Apollo album with those?
OK. That one made me laugh out loud. . .
Metallica already used it on st. Anger
@@voorhalven They used giant trash cans
There's an oddly satisfying asmr quality to these toms.
Neil Peart and MP...The 2 people would say I sounded a bit of a mix of both. But I think if you throw in some Tim Alexander to meet halfway. That was me. Sadly after 26 to 30 years playing i lost my kit in Katrina. I've played keys since and recently guitar. Took custody of my kids back in 2006 and eviction was a torment in my worries had i kept playing. Renting was no option. I will one day get another. Honor you Neil Peart once more when I do I'll upload a video of YYZ live playthrough with your solo and some of my own. Rusty I'll be but I wont ever forget who I was as a drummer. My hats off to both of you guys. Neil RIP. And MP for making his way into my ears at 26. When I thought I was a bad ass. Had to learn your stuff. Barely. Hahah. I cannot imagine what I can do today. Soon my friends. Meanwhile i am on med leave ,kids all grown and I'm in a camper uploading the softer side of my music. Guitar atmos blues. My own genre. Heheh. Peace to all musicians especially Peart and Portnoy fans. 🎹🎹🥁🥁🎸🎸
That cymbal was the real champion of this vid.
This is the best!
Not only is Mike Portnoy the best of the best of rock drummers but he seems like the coolest dude too. Hilarious!
This shit makes me laugh every time
Funny as hell
I love that he picked some deep cuts like the Body Electric and Lakeside Park. Lakeside Park has always been one of my favs.
Wow... 3 hours into the auction, it's already at $300!!
What would the buyer do with this "drum"?? 😂 😂
mike this was really funny and neil pearts sense of humor im sure hes rolling in laughter looking down on you!! sometimes we have to laugh when we lose musicians that we hold so dear to our hearts,im sure neil is laughing!!!!
The only song I didn't recognize was cygnus X-1. The rest I nailed LOL. Mike is cracking me up with this. A light-hearted tribute to Neil. And with such accuracy on such a cheap little set. I don't think I can make those sound as good. Everybody here misses Neil as much as I do. My favorite drummer and biggest hero in the business has gone on. I really miss him. R i p Neil Peart
I got em all except the last, what was that!
@@mitzo4526 I couldn't recognize it either. He didn't play it long enough
I would pay to see Dave Grohl or Taylor Hawkins play this kit
another comment that matters
ruclips.net/video/DyO7lvzfw5Q/видео.html 🤘
Soooo good. My brother played one of these kits in a band called the Pink Flamingo's many years ago on Long Island. I used to love it. Mike you are amazing.
Bring him back with the sickest drumming setup
I can name the tunes!
Cygnus X-1 - Book I: The Voyage
Lakeside Park
The Body Electric
By-Tor & The Snow Dog
That snare drum sound is dope
Dude love the Dekkar shirt!. Would not have guessed him a Tim heidecker fan
I know I’m losing it lol
Portnoy's a gem!
The definition of insanity to repeat the same thing, and expect different results...Please keep up this madness, my Man!!!
THANK YOU loudwire, and THANK YOU mike !!!!!!!!
This was hilarious! Gotta love his sense of humor as well as his insane accuracy in hitting those mini baby drums!
This is how you start today. I laughed so hard I thought I was going to crap on myself. This needs to be a regular show. Funny funny funny. I would guess that the professor would be laughing at this also.
Every time I see a kit like this, I think of the video of Corey and Clown on tv with the kids instruments lol
There's something with the sizzle of that cymbal that sounds pretty sweet!
That was great, funny and knowledgeable R.I.P. Neal Peart
I'll never get tired of seeing Mike playing on kits that are less than worthy of his time 😂
Definitely Portnoy was the soul of Dream theater i enjoy all what Mike does. I'm guitar player.
Dekkar Rulez!
2:06 sneaky Spinal Tap reference, NICE.
"just when I thought I was done, they pulled me back in!" - Don Mike Corleone.
The Drumfather III
Lakeside Park
*Caress Of Steel* was Rush's 3rd album. Plus Neil was not on Rush's first album
Mike, your sense of humor is clearly above the average. The more ridiculous the drum set the funnier it gets!
Got 'The Body Electric' in a second. Feel quite smug now. Fun video. Nice video. The Professor was the best.
Hahahaha!!!! Portnoy is a genius, plain and simple. This video was golden!!!!
RIP Neil ❤️
Dude should learn to play "Empty Bottle". He already knows what's up based on his T-Shirt selection.
Greatest Rock band of all time.
Before he even MENTIONED he was hinting at YYZ when I saw his stick over the cymbal I KNEW he was gonna play YYZ 😂
A dead giveaway tbh....i thought the exact same thing
Nice ending from Mike. Awesome work
ahahahasha another one i love these please make more with him
Loved the Spinal Tap and Seinfeld references Mike
this is so much fun and sentimental...
Love to Mike Portnoy.
Best one yet!!
Ok, Portnoy officially has taken over Loudwire! XD
...and I think he's gone a little bit insane.
And the moment of honoring Neil at the end was beautiful, too.
Awesome charity, awesome drumming. Well done Mark!
And here we have the proof that why i love Portnoy!!!
Proving that it’s the drummer, not the kit. Mike Portnoy is amazing.
That was funny and I'm still impressed how well he managed to play that toy set! :D
Neil Peart Rest In Peace, I miss a hero
LoL
Mikes a Bad Assssss !!!
Thank you
Very entertaining
I actually watched this because I'm considering buying one of these for my 2 year old grandson.
Mike should definitely have a music podcast
I lost it when he yelled at Ron haha
"give me that thing back!" XDDD gotta love Mike
Little kid playing big drums. Big man playing tiny drums. Another RUclips morning for me.
My best laugh of the day..Neil is having a good laugh also..rock on!!
Beautiful final! Big mike 💕
MIKE IS SO FUNNY! GREAT HUG, MAN!
