Again my brother would bust thro Remo heads on his Ludwig stainless steel kit regularly. He used 3s sticks and would break 10 sets in a normal show

I learned from my guitar teacher to never blame the equipment. I blamed my guitar. He walked in the other room, grabbed one of those hello kitty guitars, and played it better than I have ever been able to play mine.
i blamed the equipment when my amp stopped working😭
Its a good part due to equipment though.
My first guitar was an $80 Crate Stratocaster clone at a pawn shop. One from those beginner sets that come with the amp and case and everything. It wouldn't stay in tune, the pickups were weak AF, there was no sustain and a lot of dissonance playing chords.
When I got decent enough to get a new, better guitar, it was like I was 5x better, just cus the action was so smooth and it stayed in tune. Lol
Acoustic guitars are especially subject to this. My sister has a no-brand dreadnought the guitar shop puts together from kits, and I can't play it. I gotta press real hard to get a solid note, and all the high notes just clink. And the B string will not go in tune at all. The 12th frets are way off from open strings. Its no surprse she gave up learning. My old Washburn is 100x better and still has its issues.
And when I play my buddie's Martin, its like butter.
Its a conundrum cus you don't wanna buy your kid a $1000 instrument when they could give up right away anyways.
But I don't doubt there are many new players who get a piece of junk guitar and give up cus the guitar won't sound right.

Lots of remarkable Albums in music history have their Story because musicians using *unusual* Equipment or Techniques for making their sound.
Yeh man, with the exception of the E string and maybe the A, it has a pretty nice tone. Mad when you think people spend thousands chasing after a good sound when the reality is, the person playing is the most important factor.
I cant believe it stayed in tune. I played a similar kids semi-toy guitar and it wouldn't get in tune.
@@RobJT yeah thats a big part of it. But a lot of people I bet give up early when learning cus they got a cheap-o pawn shop guitar. My 1st guitar was an $80 Crate Strat Clone. After I upgraded to a better guitar, it was like suddenly I could play 5x better. It felt so smooth and stayed in tune.
Its especially the case with acoustic guitars. My sister has a no-brand guitar shop dreadnought and its really hard to play compared to my Washburn. You gotta press down so hard and the high notes just clink.
I would suggest to parents buying a kid an instrument to get them better than those beginner pack guitars... but its rough, cus you dont wanna spend $500-1000 and have them give up anyways.
@@gwoody4003 for sure, the tuning thing is the biggest issue with cheap guitars. I had a super cheap one, which wouldn’t stay in tune, when I first started learning, and I almost gave up because of it.

I haven’t thought of this in MANY years, but when I was in 5th grade choir, I got in trouble (and eventually kicked out) for not moving my mouth when I sang. I don’t know why, but it was just how I sang at the time.
The next time I think, "Maybe it's my guitar that sucks." I'm going to watch this and save some money.
Consider myself halfway decent on strings....my daughters Hello Kitty guitar is by far one of the worst instruments I've ever played. When tuned at open, none of the frets were actually in tune, especially the first 5 frets. Exactly what I'd expect a $30 acoustic guitar to sound like.
Yeah I was gonna say... dont get the wrong idea. Some instruments just fuckin SUCK ASS. Especially beginner instruments - and they do beginners absolutely ZERO FAVORS. 😓
@@meddle333 that’s exactly what happened to me. I cheaped out and spent £400 on a guitar and I sound awful. I should have spent at least £5-600 and I would sound amazing.
There’s no point in practicing until I get a better guitar as it’ll sound crap through this one.

I saw John 5 play live a few years back. He is so versatile that he had the whole audience captivated for 2 hours of his set. That is something very hard to do as a instrumentalist. By far the best live guitar display I have ever witnessed.

Except for the other talented and actual performing guitarists who didn't have to rely on an electric guitar to make their riffs sound better. He definitely has some talent but he's the least skilled out of the rest of the legends that were on this video. Hopefully this video opened your mind up to non RUclips guitarists.
