For me the game would take about 3 minutes to load and lag spikes along with crashes were very frequent. I always felt like a fully portable version of the game was something I really wanted though. The only issue was I didn’t have a ps vita, the only full console edition available then. That said, the day the 3ds version was announced, I lost my mind lol. I still play it off and on to this day, despite having the pocket edition with a Backbone One controller.

I played the New 3DS edition once, it's not as bad as people make it out to be, the low resolution of the 3DS is never an issue in the actual console, and the game has pretty good performance, running at 60 FPS and having bigger world than the previous gen editions of the game
No, it lags 1. You will play on the lowest possible settings for it to run more or less stable 2. You have 1-2 second delay after breaking a block before it drops 3.If your world is more than 300mb (around an hour of playing) loading gonna take around 2-3 minutes
Before the 3DS Minecraft Version came out a friend of mine bought a Minecraft clone on the Eshop that had weapons like guns that you could craft X'D She really wanted a 3DS Minecraft, so she also bought it when it was released. I actually used to play the WiiU Minecraft a lot with my friends back when it was released, but I actually totally forgot about it until I bought some WiiU games before the Eshop was closed. I then discovered that I had Minecraft WiiU Edition and it was such a memory discovering my old worlds that I've already forgotten XD The WiiU times were so great, me and my friends played so much games on the WiiU and 3DS and spent way too much time in Miiverse, chatting, drawing pictures, etc. :'D
I never noticed it being that bad on N3DS i always loved the 3DS version and i didn't really have fps issues the only thing that annoyed me was a limit on item frames per chunk and there is only smooth stone slabs no smooth stone block. Mind you most memory of the game comes from how much you could glitch the game not in a obnoxious way but more of a fun jank like noclipping your head into a ender chest.

The full name is Legacy console edition and it means all of the ports made by 4j studios which includes Xbox PlayStation (PlayStation vita) Nintendo (Wii u and Nintendo switch) but not the 3ds port because that was made by mojang and it was pretty bad. Whereas the legacy console edition ports made by 4j work very well.

Ok we gotta talk about the minigame feature on the Wii U, it offers 3 different fun minigames that literally should be on every platform! I remember playing these and having so fun! And I know we have servers in the game nowadays but still, with a little improvement minigames in Minecraft could be a real banger.
Also Spin-Off wise, the Switch port of Story Mode Season2 is the ONLY complete on cart verison of the game you can play, as the other versions require a download you can't get anymore.
What sucks about the Wii U port is that they absolutely had the capability to do everything you suggested and more. They just... didn’t do it for some reason. They could have done what the 3DS did for inventory. It's so unfortunate how much they dropped the ball.

It's been 5 years and the community for switch legacy edition is still pretty big, The legacy edition runs x10 better than Bedrock edition, It had better graphics, Felt like it was MADE for the switch. After they took it down, The community died very quickly which is very upsetting to see.

The 3ds edition is not considered a legacy edition of Minecraft because 1 it is not on a home console and 2 it was not made or developed by 4j studios

Wii U has FREE online multiplayer with VOICE CHAT!!! No other version has voice chat, at least not directly within the game.

I really don’t like Minecraft on the switch, well at least not handheld because in my world I can’t use my elytra because it takes so long to load new chunks to where I can’t see while using the elytra
I hop one day you can use the Steve and Alex amiibo for something with Minecraft and or Minecraft spin offs
You should still play java, as it is the best running version and all mods/skins are free and no microtransactions

Also bedrock on on PC got all of those, you know, same platform java exclusively runs
Wii U minecraft was my childhood
my only complaint with minecraft is no crossplay on custom servers.
I actually used to have Minecraft on 3ds but it honestly sucked so i traded it back in
I played the fake PSP version and it runs better than the 3DS one XD
Still pretty cool they got it working at all though.
