This is as close to Zeppelin as one can get these days, since there won't be a reunion. Jason is doing his father proud. The band is tight. He tells stories about growing up in the Led Zep family. They have fun on stage, and it shows.
I think it’s more Jason milking his father’s name. He’s not really that great of a drummer when you compare the two, even though he likes to talk as if he plays those songs exactly the way his father did when live… but he doesn’t do much of what his father once did
When jason did the island anniversary show with led zep in the 1980’s i knew then that he was absolutely the only man to do his dads drumming justice,he was and still is,amazing 🤠🍺
Some of you doth protest too much. Why don't you just enjoy it. If you think you could do better, fine, go ahead and get up there and do it. Otherwise, shut up.
Glad to see Jason doesn’t feel like he needs to improve drumming perfection… he defiantly comes by it honestly.. the guy is incredible like his old man was.
I see people hating on James Dylan singing but I never see anyone trying to do Robert Plant at karaoke 🤣. I think he has the hardest part of the band to recreate and does a good job at it. If he was 6'4 with a lions mane everyone would be like "O. M. G!" But because he looks like Rob Halford some people will just never be happy.
i agree he is the best of the lot. although he never seems to know what to do with himself onstage when he isnt singing. a little awkward. plant was always engaged whether singing or not. but hey, its not easy being up there. and his voice is pretty spot on
@@markv.5962 I think he may do that on purpose. Like, he doesn’t want to try and be the penultimate rock star Plant was but more so let Jimmy shine as Page and let the music speak for itself. Maybe. I don’t know. Lol
Ive seen Robert Plant at 70 plus with twice the energy as this singer. At least he has passable vocals. Overall sound is really good. Drummer and guitar are spot on
I saw Robert Plant last summer. Still sounds good. But he's not interested in joining Jason's band. Jason is just having fun playing Zeppelin tunes and telling stories of growing up in the Zeppelin family.
Michael lee was wayyyyy better drumming as he did with page and plant … for some reason Jason just doesn’t have the same sound , imo … but anyone playing zep is always good haha
whoever the singer is has it pretty spot on. great drums also from Jason. didn't care for the long improv at the start however. sounded disjointed and odd.
What sounds like "improv" is actually the opening portion of "White Summer," an instrumental that Jimmy Page composed around 1966-1968 while still in the Yardbirds. Then there's a portion of "Black Mountain Side," then into "Kashmir." (a medley of sorts)
I guess you had to be there to feel it. This has been and will always be MY #1 Led Zeppelin song. But they just don't have that "SPARK" that makes Kashmir as special as it really is and they just sound more like karaoke.
@@BeemWeeks Was going to ask the same question, so thanks for the info. Also, thx for uploading this video. They sound great, and their sound guy had them dialed in at The Ryman. That said, this was probably a real treat to see it live. I’m sure Jason’s Dad, and the rest of those guys would appreciate this tribute performance.
I find it hard to believe he has two working 360s! I wonder if they are recreations.... One bad-a** bass rig back in the day. JPJ and Jaco can't be wrong.
Zep rules! My favorite band. But Robert can't sing like that anymore. I saw him last summer. The voice just doesn't have the power. This is Jason Bonham paying tribute to the band and music his father helped create. Nothing more than a man honoring and keeping his father's legacy alive.
What do you mean?....Robert doesn't have the pipes to sing like that anymore....just the way it is.....I love that Jason is keeping the Zep flag flying!!!!!
@@fishboy91 ....no....he doesn't have the voice to do the songs the way they sound originally....that's why he WON'T agree to a Zep reunion.....that's why he is comfortable singing the way he sounds with his solo bands and Alison Krause....he sings in a lower register....no more high register singing or soaring screams
@@Knapper58 He sang that way back in the day because the songs called for it. It was a technique that he employed during pieces of a song where the "high" approach was required....aka Immigrant Song, parts of Whole Lotta Love...parts of How Many More Times, etc etc etc. He has spent 90% of his solo career trying to stay away from that sound as it immediately gets fans thinking "Led Zeppelin". He employed it a bit on the Manic Nirvana album with Hurting Kind. Today that vocal approach is simply not needed or required with the songs that he is doing with Allison Krauss...mostly blue grassified versions of some Zeppelin classics or old covers like the Everly Brothers songs or Lucinda Williams songs or old Ray Charles songs. These songs DEFINITELY do not require the Led Zep approach of singing. He is simply making an artistic choice today.
It's a good thing you weren't there to complain and be miserable! Saved you some money on that one! The rest of us serious music fans in attendance, we all had a blast!

While this band is good, I've seen and heard a few Zep tribute bands that were even closer than this. Very, very close to the real thing. But hey, good performance from Jason and the boys !

😯🎸🎙🎹🥁👌That leaves me speechless....
So good. Seen them 2x now. About as close to dropping the needle on the albums and playing over the PA as it gets.
I've seen them twice as well. You are correct. This is as close as we'll get without a reunion involving Page, Plant, and Jones.

free speech man. you cant tell people how to react. according to you , you have to be a better performer than they are to offer a critique.
I agree Mr tod. These knuckle heads just gotta relax and enjoy the music
Glad to see Mr. JIMMY Still with Jason.
Mr Jimmy, as close to Page as you can get.

Good "arreglos" de Jason!
Jason would be my first choice for a drummer. Something about him fits every checkbox.

This is like a reenactment of Kashmir 1977. They modeled this cover from that year. The only thing is the drums much too modern day in comparison

So many whiners over here, complaining just to complain.
Yeah. People really get off on complaining. Let them have their daily dose of misery.

Jimmy Sakurai.
