Even Shrek had a dedicated baby sim game to play on the ds. There was also dress my baby web browser games running adobe and later some got onto early app stores. It didn’t end it just evolved . The My Baby Girl game brings back so many good memories. Back in elementary school a couple girls had that game and we would all gather around to watch and play together. I really did like that game a lot, but i had no idea it was a whole genre until now lollll
Lol, the intro is so relatable! I never liked the feel of hard vinyl and I always preferred stuffed animals myself. That being said, as an adult I’m not too into dolls now, but I am a reborn doll artist and painting/rooting/creating babies is a lot more fun than playing with them!
Thats awesome!! My mom used to do reborns, I remember once she had a doll head in the microwave oven (I think to either soften it or bake the paint) and it scared the guest we had over lol
Ubisoft seriously did go all out with the Imagine Baby series man I remember watching PBG doin a video on the worst party games and Imagine Party Babies seriously it was funny watching him and SpaceHamster play it! I kinda want to pick it up on the Wii and ask a couple of my friends to play it we would laugh the whole time honestly.
Was hoping you'd talk about Babysitting Mania as it's a game I had as a kid. It was a kind of management simulator where you had to take care of the kids in the house while also doing chores. I remember it for the parts where you had to change the baby and it looked like your character was straight up pummeling the kid lol. Great video though, I love videos about niche nostalgia
oh my goodness what a throwback!! i had a phase where i was really serious about this game and would play it for hours 😅 kinda wish i could play it now
I love “My Baby Girl” DS game. It was so weird how much time I spend to raise a baby that broke half way through the game and won’t stop crying. Can’t even tell you how many times I replay Hannah Montana game 😂
I'm pretty sure that's the one I had as a kid too, and if so, it was the first time I saw the word "Caucasian",when picking the babies race, I was old enough to figure out it meant white, but i was like, why don't they just say white?
I never really was into the baby games, I was more of a Petz person. Petz Nursery 2, Petz Bunnyz Bunch, Petz Beach, and Petz Countryside to name a few. I still get on Petz Beach sometimes for nostalgia purposes and it's really insane how much I grinded that game as a kid.
They used to be a PC game that just focused on cats and dogs. and were owned by a company called PF Magic before Ubisoft bought them out. Maybe more 90's kids know about those games?
i cannot express how much i love your videos and appreciate your channel. I loveddd playing the Baby Hazel flash games as a kid. I think about her from time to time as I spent so many hours of my childhood “taking care” of her 🤣😊
Dude, those games were my SHIT when i was a kid. I remember being WAY TOO invested in the baby hazel lore to the point that i LITERALLY MADE UP SHIPS AND HEADCANONS FOR THEM (i rememeber even drawing aged-up versions of hazel and her friends, i was obsessed with those games i stg)
i had my baby 3 and friends, this game made it seem like raising a baby was so easy, but now as an adult you see the realities of it and you’re just like “nah fuck that.” 💀
I used to pretend my stuffed animals were babies because baby dolls (and dolls in general) honestly creeped me out when I was a kid (still do today, to an extent). 😂
I had never gotten into baby dolls throughout my entire childhood until one day I found one of my grandma’s ancient baby dolls: Annabelle (yes that was actually her name) She was this old type of doll that used acrylic instead of plastic on the arms and legs and head so she was covered in cracks, chips, and scrapes. Her eyes would close when she was on her back but they were always kind of slanted half-way shut. Her hair was good quality but thin and probably dirty. She had no clothes. Idk why I felt so attached but I just fell in love with her and would tend to her every need for hours on end. Sometimes I wonder if I was just very compassionate towards her because of her condition or if it was something spiritual going on.
Acrylic is plastic though? Do you mean composition? That’s typically what is used for older (antique, not “ancient”) dolls. Composition becomes really fragile overtime and can sometimes even crumble. Vinyl is what is used for most toy dolls today.
Thank you for including my comment and making this video! I was stoked to see it on the screen 😁 Imagine Babyz was the one I had and I immediately recognized it from the repetitive background music in the game. I remember buying it at a pawnshop or GameStop for like $5 back in the day. Lmao. Such a weird game series that nobody asked for!
I had no idea there were so many much less sequels! I only grew up with my baby girl. I loved that game to pieces tho, and still have it. Maybe I should play it again
Yes you should it is amazing. I had the first one but I only have the sequel now, which I didn’t have as a kid. I want to get the first and third one so I can play the full trilogy.
It’s nuts how quickly stuff from the early 2000s changed; I love this channel for it too because this video is 1000% my niche. I get every joke, every reference, I played that specific Hannah Montana game you mentioned WAY too many times, all that. But then the one about Justice cracks me up because I stopped walking in a good bit before it quit being Limited Too and it feels like I get it /enough/ but that it’s ever so slightly off from me. Things were moving so insanely quick that being 2-5 years older than someone could mean you have completely different frames of reference.
i only now discovered your channel, and i really adore your content. clear info, enough pictures and videos to keep my awful attention span, and obscure topics that i get way too invested in. 10/10, subscribed
Oh my god, my siblings and I had the baby party game and were weirdly into it, had forgotten all about it until this video. Granted, there were four of us so options were occasionally limited if we all wanted to play at the same time.
i suggest you make a video about the style savvy/style boutique ds and 3d series! they're fashion/dress up games that surprisingly have A LOT of depth and content, they were publishes by nintendo themselves.
I used to play Babyz: Your Virtual Bundle of Joy on the PC as a child. It was a lot more than other baby games. You could adopt more than one baby and take care of up to 4 babies at a time. You could teach them how to play games, to walk, to talk, etc and they all had their own personality and likes and dislikes. You could also dress them and decorate the house. They could make messes you have to clean up. The same company also made a Catz and Dogz game. I had Catz 5.
i work on the support team at the company that published a couple baby games back in the day, and sometimes i have to answer amazon q&a and get absolutely blindsided by very specific questions about imagine babysitters
holy shit memory unlocked. as a kid (and even now lol) i was OBSESSED with pet games (webkinz, animal jam, nintendogs, and a bunch of other cat and dog care DS games) but the only baby game i would play was imagine babyz fashion... i think i bought it by accident but for some reason that game was the shit to young me
Watched this video solely because I actually played My Baby First Steps on the Wii. It was quite fun! The baby actually did grow up a bit over the course of the one game. It was well done
I WAS JUST LOOKING THROUGH YOUR PAPA LOUIE FRANCHISE VIDEO FROM LAST WEEK?! NO WAY?! PERFECT TIMING?! Time to delve in to another dream jelly video yaayyy!!
You unlocked a major core memory with imagine babysitter. That was one of my fav games growing up and even remember that imagine had some kind of like online community thing you could go to and talk to other people and find other games by them lol
God the My Baby Girl game was one of my special interests as a kid. I was OBSESSED with it. I played it over and over, along with the other games in the series too

crying at the uhhh subtle reference at roughly the 6:00 mark, i just got whiplash that was so unexpected and funny coming from this channel. love these videos so much keep up the good work!
I played imagine babyz fashion religiously as a kid, it had actually had some really cool & unique mechanics. There was a garden to grow vegetables that you could then use in a mini game to make into baby food for the baby. You could take photos of them on the catwalk at the fashion show, read to them, play on a tire swing, and play this vacuuming mini game and suck up dust bunnies. I honestly really loved the game which is funny because I wasn’t really a babies kid either.
Plush doggie in the toy stroller >>>> Awesome video Dream Jelly!!! That was my favorite point in the video! It just unlocked a super specific memory of how I’d use anything to carry around my plush dogs with me at all possible times….
I remember being in elementary school during a free period where this one girl kept bringing her DS with one of these baby games (I think it was My Baby Girl) and we all took turns trying to change the baby correctly which none of us could figure out. I remember feeling weirded out by the baby's "bits" so I only tried a couple times.
1:42 glad to see all kids are about on the same level of creativeness when it comes to naming stuffed animals. i had a black lab stuffed animal i named blackie 😭
2:16 baby Krissy!! I remember _Loving_ the grocery shopping part, and not much else lol. I don’t know what it was that got me, but I spent so much time like Get that mf milk in my cart, cereal? I’ll take seven! Eggs, hell yeah, get those eggs barbie!
I had my baby (girl) lol and there was ONE mini game that felt impossible, I think it was getting her to pick her head up, or sit up in the crib or something like that, but it literally frustrated me to tears. I DID beat it though, it’s cute. The stroller walks are the best part imo 💗
Similar to baby games, I'd love to see a whole video about all the different virtual pet games!! (Tamagotchi, Neopets, Digimon, Moshi Monsters, Webkinz...)
This video flashed me back to a memory I’d repressed for several years until now, by accident. To keep it short, I was at my cousins’ house, and they gave me a baby doll as a present. I was really young at the time, and wasn’t familiar with the concept of baby dolls that close their eyes; that one did, and it freaked me out. Of course, I still thanked them, but I remember the uncanny valley feeling it gave me led to putting it in an empty little garbage can. But, after seeing it head first in the bin, I felt bad for it and picked it back up before just giving it back. And, yeah, I preferred taking care of pets over babies too.
literally shook from that “let’s baby sit baby krissy” screen. I remember not enjoying baby dolls as a kid but I def remember playing this game on repeat lol
Bruh I've been binge watching your videos this weekend you are incredible I definitely thought you were a bigger channel and think you deserve way more subscribers Keep up the good work!
One of my favorite stuffed animals as a kid was also named brownie but it was a horse lol. Well is, I still have it on a shelf in my room. I also loved those weird baby bottles more than the actual baby dolls.
i used to have “my baby boy” on the ds (when i was like 6) and i had no clue how to play it. my baby used to scream and cry but i had no clue what it wanted and i would get stressed and cry because my baby wouldn’t shut up
The only Baby Game i had as a child was "My Baby Girl". It was coincidentally on my R4-Cartridge and I think I really enjoyed it :) I guess I got lucky and had the good Baby Game 😂
I was never a big baby doll girl. The moment I learned how to form an opinion, I ditched my baby doll and never interacted with baby entertainment again. I had no idea baby games were this prevalent.
I had my baby first steps and LOVED it as a kid. you do the minigames and tasks and the baby gets better and better at walking, talking, and fine motor skills over time!
I had Imagine Babyz when I was a kid and it was actually pretty fun but the difficulty curve got to a point where by the end it was impossible to satisfy the parents and I could never beat it properly.
I had "My Baby Girl" when I was younger- I noticed the baby sounds are similar to Baby Yoda (Grogu) and what they used for Baby Ahsoka as well 😬the absolute flashbacks I'm getting from those sounds, trying to make the baby look at the rattle-
Seconding the comments about how insane the amount of Imagine Games there were & I absolutely loved them as a kid. Also, Imagine sort-of had a virtual world; they had a dedicated section in Ubiworld by Ubisoft. I completely forgot before watching this and had to google around to find the name lmao
this video and the mention of the MyBaby line of games unlocked memories, lemme tell ya! i remembered i had the MyBaby: First Steps game and played it a lot. the UI and baby design set off a 'ding' in my head lol. loved that game, along with the first Cooking Mama for the DS
I was OBSESSED with baby games (maybebe I still am, as I studied and now work with mothers and children). I got a Miracle Baby doll and my mom thought she was creepy so I didn't get the Amazing Amanda, Little Mom and Baby Alive I dreamt about. Also I didn't have a videogame so I lived vicariously through Baby Krissy, Nanny Mania and the sims 2, but I think I dodged a bullet 🤣
thank you so much for including “why don’t babies have kneecaps” on the baby enjoyment scale. as a true “why don’t babies have kneecaps” connoisseur, this is truly one of the “why don’t babies have kneecaps” moments of all time.
I grew up on Baby Life and played it all the time. Here's what I remember: - the baby would always, ALWAYS be grumpy and ALWAYS hungry. feeding was the most boring part of the whole game and took forever. - these cutscenes would play when your baby reached a new life stage (it only grows up to be a toddler) and I always got way too excited every time it happened. the baby I had for the longest on that game was named Gabriella, and I would've had her longer if my siblings hadn't deleted her from my ds, which I was really salty about back then. - the kindergarten mini game was always the most stressful thing ever. imagine the sims, but you've got four toddlers and all their needs are low at the same time, but you can only take care of one at a time, and then after you've taken care of one's needs they give you 0.2 seconds before they need something else, and if you don't give them what they want IMMEDIATELY they start bawling, making you feel like a failure as a virtual parent. - when you played catch with the baby in the garden it was always super difficult to not hit the baby with the ball, but looking back it was so hilarious how many times I accidentally slammed my baby in the face with the ball and they burst out crying hysterically and little me freaked out like I'd just harmed an actual baby. frankly this memory leads me to disagree with the "not enough violence" bullet point on your notes for this game.
I played my stepdaughter's MyBaby Boy game once. I think I remember that if you finished the game (whatever that consists of) you got the option to play with a baby girl after.
God the Imagine series and the My Baby Series were so much fun for me. The nostalgia hits hard when I remember playing them for hours on long road trips as a kid.
My son would've been in serious trouble if I was like "don't worry, I'm a pro, I played a lot of baby Sims back in my days" when he was born 😂 great vid.

Even Shrek had a dedicated baby sim game to play on the ds. There was also dress my baby web browser games running adobe and later some got onto early app stores. It didn’t end it just evolved .
I think the trend is people wanted interactive toys or games since the rise of furrbies etc. I remember some baby alive dolls that had a drop in quality.
In an ironic twist in the U.S. in the middle 2000’s was addressing teen pregnancies and abstinence programs in media campaigns.
Recalling any of this info makes me feel old lol.
That baby Krissy game with the shopping part was my absolute favorite baby game EVER

You so deserve this blow up, your editing, research, calming voice, and general vibe of the channel is incredibly comforting and informative. I love Y2K/2000's nostalgia related video essays and it's so cool to see other people do too!! Wishing you so much success in your RUclips career, and thank you for delivering such niche yet widely loved content 💕
Even if I was a doll person, I much prefer the softer vinyls that I work with often.
Thats awesome!! My mom used to do reborns, I remember once she had a doll head in the microwave oven (I think to either soften it or bake the paint) and it scared the guest we had over lol
@@callerunknown Lmfaooooo, that’s o funny! I tend to ventilate my room so then I can bake in it, but that’s so funny! I can’t wait to start sculpting!
SpaceHamster... gives me memories
Was hoping you'd talk about Babysitting Mania as it's a game I had as a kid. It was a kind of management simulator where you had to take care of the kids in the house while also doing chores. I remember it for the parts where you had to change the baby and it looked like your character was straight up pummeling the kid lol. Great video though, I love videos about niche nostalgia
oh my goodness what a throwback!! i had a phase where i was really serious about this game and would play it for hours 😅
kinda wish i could play it now
OMG I played this one and its Hollywood sequel RELIGIOUSLY.
My parents got me this game to try and encourage me to be tidy lol
i swear to god that game had the same music as yoville but i cant remember
The original Petz series for the PC actually had a baby spinoff version! It was called Babyz, naturally.
Petz hamster superstar petz cat superstar petz dog superstar! Petz hamsterz! PETZ HAMSTERZ 2! PETZ MY PUPPY FAMILY! PETZ MY MONKEY FAMILY!!
@@Valerie-nm1gr this is the original petz I played with, I remember finding a flash website that had a demo version of Babyz on it lol
Petz Bunnyz was so cute
They used to be a PC game that just focused on cats and dogs. and were owned by a company called PF Magic before Ubisoft bought them out. Maybe more 90's kids know about those games?
i cannot express how much i love your videos and appreciate your channel. The topics you talk about manage to be something we can all relate to, find interesting, and be entertained by while being appropriate enough to not be blocked by my school admins. You always give me something nice to listen to while I’m suffering in school :) All hail Dream Jelly!!!
I'm a bit older so I wasn't in the thick of it, as it were, when these crazes were popular, but I do appreciate the content, the research that goes into it, and Brent.
OMG THE MY BABY SERIES WAS MY FAVORITE SERIES TO PLAY AS A KID!!! First steps was my absolute favorite game in the series tbh
I loveddd playing the Baby Hazel flash games as a kid. I think about her from time to time as I spent so many hours of my childhood “taking care” of her 🤣😊
Finally someone mentions someone talks about “her” (she’s Lucifer as a little girl)
@@Emma_The_H0ppin_H00ligan W A T
i had my baby 3 and friends, this game made it seem like raising a baby was so easy, but now as an adult you see the realities of it and you’re just like “nah fuck that.” 💀

These videos make me remember things I haven't even seen or heard of since then... PLEASE keep them coming, the nostalgia is so good
the alexandrias genesis joke. my JAW DROPPED. immaculate tasteful stunning showstopping hilarious,, dream jelly youve done it again !

sooOOO glad i found ur channel recently, pls keep it up queen
I used to pretend my stuffed animals were babies because baby dolls (and dolls in general) honestly creeped me out when I was a kid (still do today, to an extent). 😂
I had never gotten into baby dolls throughout my entire childhood until one day I found one of my grandma’s ancient baby dolls: Annabelle (yes that was actually her name)
She was this old type of doll that used acrylic instead of plastic on the arms and legs and head so she was covered in cracks, chips, and scrapes.
@@charliemayfilms1550 Oh man really? I guess I just assumed.
The more you know I guess lol
The way you describe virtual babies is how I describe real babies. 'like Macaulay Culkin mixed with a potato"
Thank you for posting so much good content, I feel like I'm getting in on the ground floor of something special
I loved the original Petz game, the company was P.F. Magic!
And when they annoyed you, you could send them to grandma's house 🤣 gosh so many good memories
i work on the support team at the company that published a couple baby games back in the day, and sometimes i have to answer amazon q&a and get absolutely blindsided by very specific questions about imagine babysitters
holy shit memory unlocked. as a kid (and even now lol) i was OBSESSED with pet games (webkinz, animal jam, nintendogs, and a bunch of other cat and dog care DS games) but the only baby game i would play was imagine babyz fashion... i think i bought it by accident but for some reason that game was the shit to young me
Watched this video solely because I actually played My Baby First Steps on the Wii. It was quite fun! The baby actually did grow up a bit over the course of the one game. It was well done
Same!! It was one of my fav Wii games
Oh my gosh the mention of Baby Krissy just opened a floodgate of memories, I played that game so much
I WAS JUST LOOKING THROUGH YOUR PAPA LOUIE FRANCHISE VIDEO FROM LAST WEEK?!
I played it over and over, along with the other games in the series too
Watching dream jelly is a sacred part of my Saturday routine.
baby pals!!! i actually found my old physical copy of it the other week and just donated it without thinking, so thank you for this nostalgia trip!! even if it is weirder than i remember lol
crying at the uhhh subtle reference at roughly the 6:00 mark, i just got whiplash that was so unexpected and funny coming from this channel. love these videos so much keep up the good work!
I remember seeing adverts for those games on local television before school and wondering who's the target audience. good analysis, loved it!
16:50 HELP MY BABY HAD ANOTHER GAME, MY BABY UNIVERSE FOR THE SWITCH (cries in nostalgia)😭😭
Plush doggie in the toy stroller >>>>
Awesome video Dream Jelly!!!
I had the "Baby Life" as a kid and I loved it. The footage really hit me with some serious nostalgia
your videos give so much nostalgia ❤️
I had my baby (girl) lol and there was ONE mini game that felt impossible, I think it was getting her to pick her head up, or sit up in the crib or something like that, but it literally frustrated me to tears. I DID beat it though, it’s cute. The stroller walks are the best part imo 💗
0:14 I can’t breathe
This brightened my day thank you for posting 😊
literally shook from that “let’s baby sit baby krissy” screen. I remember not enjoying baby dolls as a kid but I def remember playing this game on repeat lol
The Baby Krissy game is so nostalgic for me! I need to play it again after all these years! 😂💕
Bruh I've been binge watching your videos this weekend you are incredible
I definitely thought you were a bigger channel and think you deserve way more subscribers
Keep up the good work!
I was obsessed with Imagine Babyz! The z really made feel like a cool kid and the art style of the baby sitter was so pretty to me back then 😂😂
One of my favorite stuffed animals as a kid was also named brownie but it was a horse lol. Well is, I still have it on a shelf in my room. I also loved those weird baby bottles more than the actual baby dolls.
Not only was this video super entertaining but the sims music in the intro helped to get me to subscribe thank you LOL
I’m so glad you talked about the graphics because the way I gasped when I first seen that baby, oft 😮💨
i used to have “my baby boy” on the ds (when i was like 6) and i had no clue how to play it. my baby used to scream and cry but i had no clue what it wanted and i would get stressed and cry because my baby wouldn’t shut up
The only Baby Game i had as a child was "My Baby Girl". It was coincidentally on my R4-Cartridge and I think I really enjoyed it :) I guess I got lucky and had the good Baby Game 😂
This is lowkey my favourite channel and I've seen every video
I was not expecting a video about shovelware baby games to give me war flashbacks about Alexandrias Genesis
I was never a big baby doll girl. The moment I learned how to form an opinion, I ditched my baby doll and never interacted with baby entertainment again. I had no idea baby games were this prevalent.
your channel is such a joy and i giggle over every single thumbnail
I had my baby first steps and LOVED it as a kid. you do the minigames and tasks and the baby gets better and better at walking, talking, and fine motor skills over time!
I had Imagine Babyz when I was a kid and it was actually pretty fun but the difficulty curve got to a point where by the end it was impossible to satisfy the parents and I could never beat it properly.
11:07 “The more interesting approach to the baby making process.”
"Regular, Ducky, and Girl" Ah yes, the three genders.
The "My Baby" series was my favorite as a kid. Seeing you play it was such a nostalgia rush!
this video and the mention of the MyBaby line of games unlocked memories, lemme tell ya! i remembered i had the MyBaby: First Steps game and played it a lot. the UI and baby design set off a 'ding' in my head lol. loved that game, along with the first Cooking Mama for the DS
It’s always a good day when Dream Jelly uploads.
1:27 i *hung* my baby dolls
thank you so much for including “why don’t babies have kneecaps” on the baby enjoyment scale. as a true “why don’t babies have kneecaps” connoisseur, this is truly one of the “why don’t babies have kneecaps” moments of all time.
Your voice is so soothing it’s like asmr it’s perfect😔
I grew up on Baby Life and played it all the time. Here's what I remember:
- the baby would always, ALWAYS be grumpy and ALWAYS hungry. feeding was the most boring part of the whole game and took forever.
The views on these vids aren't proportional to the qualityyyy VERY GOOD VIDEOS
God the Imagine series and the My Baby Series were so much fun for me. The nostalgia hits hard when I remember playing them for hours on long road trips as a kid.
completely forgot about baby pals till now, thanks for bringing back some wild memories
I worked at gamestop as a teen during this time and remember getting these weird games in shipment and thinking “okay what’s going on here”
My son would've been in serious trouble if I was like "don't worry, I'm a pro, I played a lot of baby Sims back in my days" when he was born 😂 great vid.
I played a fair share of Babysitting Mama and Imagine Babies when I was younger lol
I was wondering if you could do Duck Life right now, as I'm in a DL phase and after watching the Papa-verse video of yours I would LOVE to see a Duck Life verse video (Also Wix just announced Duck Life 9 so I am super hyped)
At first, I disregarded your videos as just random nostalgia bait video essays, until I gave this video a go, and now I'm instantly hooked. I love calm and chill discussion and nostalgia videos like this, and you're a perfect candidate for this kind of stuff!
Man, My baby’s was the first baby game I had! I used to love playing it.
Still, it never competed with the build a bear games!
PLEASE review the build a bear games. Their wild. 😂
BABY LIFE. That game is so nostalgic for me, even as someone who was more interested in animals over babies as a kid. Thank you for indirectly helping me find it again.
As a guy I just never got feeding young girls the idea to raise kids while they're kids... These games weird me out.
Same, as a kid I always was mad that everything targeted to me was "raise babies" or "cleaning" and my brother always got the cool toys and all I got was dolls...
