Hi Dr. Nitin. Congratulations! I think this is one of the best videos explaining how new Planner Premium can be put in practice. So, please I would like to know how to adjust dates for tasks that are delayed. Our team nowdays are having dificulties to understand the way to solve this problem. I am trying to see how to work to replan these delayed tasks. Please, could help with some tips?
Thanks @alextlima If you use Planner Premium and create tasks linked to each other, the delay in one task will automatically reflect in the timeline of dependent tasks. If you want to keep a baseline and then compare it with actual - you will have to use Project Online - which is a more comprehensive project management solution. Thank you so much! I wonder if I assign a subtask to a user, can this user also see the parent task or even the whole plan, or is he restricted to see only his own task?
Thanks @iAnguel Unfortunately and sadly, there are no restrictions whatsoever. Anyone can see and edit any task - even delete it. No trace. Compliance audit trail is potentially there. But at a user level it is free for all. This limits the practical utility of an otherwise brilliant solution. Check out my other best practices videos as well. Where can you assign tasks from? Tasks can be assigned from To Do, Planner, Loop, Chat, Channels, Meetings, Emails. In all these cases, whoever is a part of the context, for example, chat members, meeting invitees, email recipients, etc - will not only see all tasks, they can delete all tasks or modify any item in any task.
@@efficiency365 Sorry for the confusion, I was talking about the new MS Planner. Now I see that there is no concept of "permissions". Do you know if MS intends to implement something like this in the future? E.g. a plan shall be visible to its owner only but subtasks can be assigned to particular employees that can see only these tasks but nothing around them.
I am a very big fan of Microsoft Planner, despite its huge flaw of the possibility of deleting of assigned tasks by team members. I disagree with the statement that we should gradually forget about flagging emails. Quite a significant part of tasks is directly information from an email... so why rewrite this information manually to To-Do? And like this, directly from the email, having a task to be carried out is visible in Planner in Teams or in To-Do.
Thanks @PaweW-td3wt Planner deletion is a big lacuna and I don't see it getting corrected. It is called "collaboration", apparently... ha ha. If you have Purview (Compliance) tool (part of E5), there is an audit trail for Planner. However, it is useless for individual user to know that someone else edited or deleted the task. Flagging of emails Outlook has this feature since 30+ years. Drag a mail and drop on task folder.. Right drag drop gives option to MOVE instead of copy - which is preffered. New Outlook / Web version - Right click on mail - Advanced - Create a Task. Mobile app - (options - vertical three dots) - Create a Task. The only practical use case for Flagging I have found is - I read a mail on the mobile app. I want to remember to act on it when I open Outlook on Desktop. How to remember? Flag. After you finish the action on desktop, remove flag. Check out my other best practices videos as well. @@efficiency365 I am a huge fan of your RUclips videos. They show not just how to use the program, but how to use it IN PRACTICE, and that's a big difference. For me, despite the multitude of task management programs, there is still no good solution, and it's all related to communication about the task. As for Planner, you can hold employees accountable for tasks entered there through internal communication in Planner. In your materials, you recommend starting some tasks in Teams, but Teams has a huge drawback: if the administrator doesn't manage the creation of new groups, there can be thousands of them in the organization after a year. I tested Loop, which I liked the most, but if there was communication in Loop regarding tasks, that would be perfect. Of course, you can insert Loop components into Teams, but then we return to Teams again. So today, communication about tasks goes through too many channels: email, Teams, and directly from Planner, and that's not good.
Task management sounds like a simple use case. But in reality it is quite complex. Furthermore, everyone's perception of what exactly task management should do is different. In corporate context, whichever solution it is, needs to be uniformly enforced - irrespective of personal preferences.
