Instead of trying to do everything Microsoft should try and get the basics right - anyone that suffers the dreads of Sharepoint and One Drive, with its half baked integration with Teams just wishes they would sort out their document management before anything else.
I'm not sure what you mean by half-baked with SP and OneDrive as Teams its literally built on top of SharePoint and OneDrive is using the SharePoint framework.
Great video Jonathan, thank you so much. Didn't know about the new Planner for example, and other feature details. NEW PLANNER: Just had a quick dip via Teams as you say. First issue is if I add a new task and click the dropdown 'Plan' to select a different team/plan it lists a load of options, of which two are 'TA' for Task. No way of knowing which TA is which. Hovering doesn't reveal which Team that Task list is from. So it means guessing and adding a task to the wrong Team, or using Planner as an 'inbox' for tasks only but not a means to quickly adding tasks to various Teams from one spot. What a shame MS haven't thought this through. Surely a drop down should be useful. As it is, it's almost useless.
You really should switch to lists. Reason being, super large spreadsheets that are used solely for tracking progress in work tasks, will see immense slowdowns after a lot of lines are added. Also things like automation will be broken as soon as the file name changes or a column name changing.
I’ve struggled with bookings. I have a business with only myself at this time. Can I add my buisness name to represent my personal booking page? My clients were getting an error when booking so I created a shared booking page but now it looks like my buisness name and my name are two separate booking options. It’s been a nightmare!
Brilliant mate. I am a huge fan of stream. So many times I want a video that I want to be able to share easily without putting it on the RUclips. It’s a great program. Thank you for highlighting it. I am waiting for the new planner app b
How long does it take to set up a meeting? Person1: "Hey, can we have a meeting tomorrow at 1pm?" Person2:"Could we make it 2pm?" Person1:"Of course" No need to pay anyone anything. Plus, you get to interact with people instead of cold screens.
What is the use case for an asset tracker in a user's personal space? Wouldn't you want to make it available to the procurement team or something similar?
Thanks for the video! About planner. I can see mails marked with flags. But what about mails marked with categories? Is it possible to see them in planner? 🙂
Lists is useless. Microsoft try to do everything, poorly. There is always a 3rd party solution that is 100x better than the Microsoft equivalent. Granted, you end up with lots of different platforms and the associated costs, but far more efficiency and a lot less pain of trying to use and integrate Microsoft products.
There is no need for costs, you can use open source software which are most often free, they are safer, and do pretty much everything you need (since they are built by people wanting to solve a problem, not make loads of money). I am transitioning away from proprietary software to open source, and I don't seem to find much difficulty, it's relatively easy to get used to. :)
As a newer subscriber here but a long to time subscriber to 365, I often wonder what's the point of learning these things. As of 10/2024 - MS Lists are nowhere to be found on Apps. Feel free to show me I am wrong. I followed your directions and I do not have MS Lists. My frustration is this happens all the time with 365.
I found this digging around... "Stay organized and track what matters. The Microsoft Lists - MSA Preview is available online only and limited to 200,000 Microsoft accounts (MSA) to try at no cost on a first-come, first-served basis."
There are limits e.g. 30M items, 2,000 lists per site collection and you'll start struggling trying to view more than 5,000 items at a time. Adding some of the more processing heavy columns like lookups and metadata can slow down list display but only when displaying thousands of items at a time. I can't imagine a small business ever running into a scaling issue, though.
I've got a Microsoft 365 Personal account and don't appear to have Whiteboard, Planner, Stream or Bookings. Are they not available with a Personal account?
Honestly, i can just about keep up with Microsoft's software names n how to find stuff on their websites. customer support itelf is imppssible to find. alwys a nightmare. so whats this app called today?
