The 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Is An Old-School, Manual Shift Super Sport Sedan

- When the old #Cadillac ATS-V was retired a couple years ago, enthusiasts wondered if a worthy replacement would return. For 2022, that car is here in the form of the new #CT4VBlackwing! With an updated 3.6L twin-turbo V6 under the hood, this new #CadillacCT4VBlackwing has the power it needs and with a standard 6-speed manual and RWD, its a formula for fun that has worked for years. While the #Blackwing name is new this year, it's hooked up to a car that is more balanced, fun, and capable over the old #ATSV that it replaces.

Good morning everyone! Don’t forget we will be posting our review on the CT5-V Blackwing next Tuesday… there will actually be a total of 4 videos posting on that day 😵 What are your thoughts on the smaller Blackwing? Cadillac has priced it very aggressively against rivals and you essentially get M3 Performance for the price of an M2.
Drove the ATS V and CTS V during Cadillac's Truth + Dare events a few years ago and was very impressed. I can't wait to drive this Blackwing CT4 whenever I have a chance. That said, the CT4 Blackwing looks very impressive. Can't wait for your CT5 Blackwing review.
@@layne4376 Too bad it only comes with 2 doors. Some people need the practicality of this but don’t want to step up to the M3, or simply won’t bc of the awful grille 😂
@@layne4376 actually the ct4 v blackwing laped Virginia raceway faster than an m5 competition, m4cs, m2cs, Nissan gtr. So this ct4v blackwing is faster than even the Nissan gtr on track!!!
4 videos dropping in one day!? That is amazing! Can't wait!
have one on order with m6. after an m3, m2 and zl1, i think this will be the goldilocks for me.
This car and the CT5 V Blackwing excite me way more than that Tesla Model S Plaid
Hell yes
What ab ct6
Much better than Model S plaid
Because a Mazda 6 has more quality than the Plaid, and because a GR86 has 10x the dynamic excitement than the Plaid. And yet everyone pretends some arbitrary acceleration number is the only thing that matters.
@@exothermal.sprocket exactly
For launches you want the suspension in the softest setting so that the car squats more and the tires will dig into the road more. That's why the launch was fastest in touring mode and when you're full throttle, shift times are the same in every mode.
Yes for RWD or rear bias cars
I have owned a couple of BMW M3's but since the current generation's styling makes me throw up a little I will be replacing my current vehicle with one of these.
Don't jump ship now. Stay loyal. Leave the Caddy to the rest of us lol
New G80 series isn’t even that bad. Have you driven one yet?
@@coreyclark4190
I would wait for the not yet released G80 Sport.
@@coreyclark4190 Aren't these Cadillac Blackwings in a different league than the Genesis models though? I'd pick this over a G80, but I'd definitely pick the G80 over a "regular" V model.

Everything about the Caddy is just 😍😍😍😍😍
It was great to see Sofyan's take on this as I've come to respect him as one of the more critical reviewers out there. If he likes something, it must be really good.
He's very critical if it's a Toyota. If it's a Honda, Hyundai/Kia, or a German car, it gets a free pass in his book.
he brings up things i wouldn't consider but i appreciate his point of view. definitely happy to have him.
My number 1 point for comparison is price. Sedan, pickup, coupe. SUV, hatchback. If the price is in my range I'll be looking at it.
According to the order guide the key fob color matches the color of the brake calipers. ;)
Vary important.
Just want to say I’ve been watching this channel for a long time, and Sofyan continues to kill it in every video! Very well done as always, Redline Reviews!
How many spokes does that rim have?
To The few comments I see of people who don't understand why this car was made.... IT IS NOT MADE FOR YOU. respectfully.
Love it when people in the US talk about traveling at "high speeds".
As much as I love a manual, the 10 speed is the one for me, I would do launches in it all day
I love manual transmissions! How fun!!!
Looks sexy, sleek, and with a very powerful powertrain. Cadillac knocked it off the park with this one! I love that you get M3 performance for a lot cheaper than a M3!
I CANT WAIT until people get ahold of these! The old ats-v could add 100hp+ with just a simple tune. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 530-550+ hp on these with a simple tune, let alone exhaust to help them breathe better. I love when automakers decide not to make every single product electric, they’re still thinking of us enthusiasts… amazing. (It’d be awesome to see one of these with awd but I understand the reason why they don’t)
@Prime Artemis For a $40k more money...and not in the same category of cars either.
@Prime Artemis It's totally embarrassing that a Toyota Prius can't keep up with this car in any metric.
Comparing this car with a 911 makes about as much sense as comparing it to an economy car. Nobody is cross shopping those cars. That's not even mentioning that the CT4 Blackwing lapped VIR in 2 minutes 52 seconds, which a second faster than the 2018 Carerra T, and only a second behind the 2014 911 Turbo S (and 2 seconds behind the 2015 GT3). This car is FAST for a sedan.
@Prime Artemis I can blow past most 911's at the track with our ATS-V's. We're making 630 whp and 720 whp with ours. And combined they are still probably cheaper than a 911.
@Prime Artemissure, for 2x the money. And if you want an outright sports car, the base Vette annihilates the 911 for less.
@@zelikovalexAnnihilates huh? Haha
Great review, you forgot to do power shift which this car is equipped with it.
So I have a 'regular' CT4 V (non-Blackwing) and feel so inadequate. I'm perplexed by how Sofian wasn't impressed with the "regular" V though. Coming from Audi, the Cadillac may not be quite as nice as Mercedes and Audi interiors, but it's not far off; all are better than the BMW 2 Series interior, imo. But everything else about the car is really damnn good. The suspension is sublime and much better than the CLA or 2 Series. It's dynamics are better. The steering is the best of the bunch. Sofian, what are you not impressed about the CT4 V that you find impressive in the German competition? All are great cars in their own way but I find Cadillac to be the best blend if you value performance and driving enjoyment with luxury mixed in.
Man don't listen to these reviewers they'll have you thinking all kinds of bs that's why I always say go see for yourself cause I hard all the reviews about the ct4 and ct5 interiors not being this and that so I went to my local dealer and tested them out myself I have know issues with either of them cause I would luv to have a ct4 v or ct5v they always have to Nick pick Cadillac for some reason makes know sense smh
I test drove the regular CT4-V and I thought it was quick as hell even compared to my '17 CTS V-sport that I drive now, but I did agree with Sofyan's review that the 4cyl engine noise was pretty grainy and the interior design was too "safe". I liked it alot though and seems like an underdog in the segment even still.
@@Bu-22 Lol. It's just a figure of speech. I don't really feel inadequate. I am just trying to convey my appreciation for this car. And you make a great point about just enjoying what I have. I certainly do.
@@quezp3608 But I think this is part the reason why we do not see an actually ‘Blackwing’ badge on the exterior of the car. If y’all have been paying attention, Cadillac never sold us a “Blackwing dream”, what’s emphasized time and time again around the car is “V-series”. “Blacking” was ALWAYS just _our_ fantasy. The engine isn’t even present in either Blackwing vehicle.
Maybe they were trying to be careful with not sending the wrong message because they know, as do we, that any Cadillac with a “V” badge deserved it whether V-Sport, V, or V-Blackwing.
The key fobs are color coded to the caliper colors on the car. I have a 2023 Raven black CT4V Blackwing with the 6 speed manual and i love it. This car gets!
Few corrections....
1) These do not have Recaro seats.
2) Keyfob are matched to the caliper color that's why it is red.
I believe Recaro is the actual manufacturer of the seats, even if they aren’t branded as such.
You guys were surely smiling a lot while driving!
The digital display was such a needed upgrade in this car. Still a few "perks" missing for a car in this price range but it's a solid offering. The performance is lights out. Thing even sounds good. Quite the send off, Cadillac.
Gotta be one of the first American made v6’s that sounds good imo. I still prefer a v8 sound but foreign cars nailed 6 cylinder exhaust notes for years while American 6 cylinders did nothing for me but this thing sounds great, I want to heat one with an intake and downpipe though so that turbo sound comes through

Cadillac said this is the last highperformance ICE engine... it's a wonderful last Hurrah!
Funny thing, I would have agreed with you back then. Now, EV sales have dropped off and people are shying away from them. I think ice cars will be hanging in there a little longer then we thought.
Cadillac has come a long way and both of those V models are awesome

if you can get past that its a CADILLAC? You should be saying if you can past its not a BMW???? which are horrendous in reliability - I have two M's - and way overpriced. God Bless Cadillac.
Sadly, Cadillac isn't much better than BMW in reliability. They were decades earlier, but nowadays, they're among the lower end of the ranking.

Thanks for the review, helped me decide to go ahead and place my order for a ct4vbw, just the long wait for it to come in now, I went for the manual, in fact the offering of the manual is almost the whole reason this will be in my garage soon.
How do you like it
You guys didn't use the no lift shift!! I have one on order, super excited!

I like the digital display. But yes it seems slow compared to the center console, and somewhat busy too. (glad to see the "partner" back in the vid ;)
You can choose the key color to match to the brake caliper color.
So yellow calipers has yellow key
castillo therCastillo there's no yellow option, only red blue and bronze color and yes for example if it has red clipper then red key fob.

@@samuelorellana2603 Yeah, that’s what I was saying.
No lift shift and auto rev matching features help a lot too.
It's disappointing that GM abandoned the original "Blackwing" 4.2L V8. It had potential.😔
You went faster 0-60 in Touring mode because the MRC suspension is softer and transfers weight better, hence less wheelspin. This is common knowledge when drag racing 6th Generation Camaro's with the same PTM and MRC setup. Track mode is specifically intended for road course or auto cross performance, not straight line performance.
The Blackwing model shouldn't have "V" in the name. It's too confusing since there's still a V-series model too.
Agree. I thought Cadillac might at least make the "V" half black or something to differentiate the two.
They should have just stuck with "V" being the top-performing trim and "V-Sport" being the mild performance trim.
Just like there are different M and AMG options, there are different V options. Far from unheard of.
@@matthewdavis8199 I don't care how common it is, I still think it's dumb and unnecessarily confusing to mix the naming of distinct model lines.
The color of the key fob matches the color of the brake calibers.
Oh my gosh, it is so beautiful!
It's ugly.... so ordinary ... we should demand more character... they all look alike now. Not good... we let them get away with just plain boring normalcy cars... what a shame.
The ct4 v blackwing laped virginia international raceway faster the the m5 competition, m4cs, m2cs, m8 grandcoupe, Nissan gtr, audi rs7, and even the lamborghini murcielago sv. So far so good for the ct4v blackwing. Looks like the ct4 v blackwing punches way above it's own weight!!!👌🚘🚗🇺🇸

I wanted those hazards off so badly.
The color of the key fob matches the color of the brake calipers!
It also has no lift shift so you can leave the throttle pedal to the floor when shifting up through the gears.
About damn time Cadillac puts some spice back in their lineup.
Not sure how this compares to an M2 because it is a 2 door vs 4 doors here. Interesting that you have not had the chance to drive the M2 Comp. If you are ever in the MA area and want to review it feel free to hit me up. I have a 21 M2 Comp manual.
They don't make a M2 Comp in manual ? At least on the last gen they didn't .
Approximately similar price, and overall size. Ct4-v is a tweener, but the M2 really is kinda a two door saloon car more than a true coupe, so they’re not so dissimilar. I’d certainly cross shop them personally, and the extra practicality of the Caddy would be tempting.
I agree, they should have kept the hood scoop. Nice car otherwise
The color of the FOB matches the brake calibers.
Gotta give Cadillac credit. They’ve done a nice job here.
Loved the manual vs auto drag race. Way to go manual :-)
that's what I call a car
Very nice. I would love to have this as my daily driver - not as much as I would like to have a Tesla Model S, but very nice for an ICE vehicle.
Great Review. Impressive Car for sure. Glad to see Caddy come correct on this CT4 Blackwing.
All you "enthusiasts" laughingly assume that there millions and millions of guys just like you who will buy the version with the stick. More often than not, if the buyer has a wife and kids......they cannot drive a stick and the buyer ends up getting the auto, just in case his family members end up needing the car.......and I just explained REALITY. You're welcome.
Yep and even the single enthusiasts who buy a stick car are too cheap to buy a new stick car. So they buy used stick cars and wonder why automakers don't make new stick cars anymore SMH LOL
I’m not clear what you mean by “cannot drive a stick”?? Virtually anyone can learn to drive a stick-both my kids learned on, and did their driver’s test, in a manual car. …or do you mean people with a physical limitation, like an amputated leg or right arm??
God bless Cadillac for saving the manuals
you sure those upgraded seats are made by recaro? couldnt find any references that indicate they are recaros.
btw the color of the key fob is supposed to match the brake calipers colors.
ugh such buyer’s remorse. should have gotten a ct4. now I know o definitely want it and have to wait till late early 2025 for an early lease buyout on what I have currently
I think this is more of a M3/RS5 competitor than a CLA45/M2/RS3 competitor
Except this Cadillac will be more reliable and more value for money than the German competitors.

I don't get it! As a compact sedan the previous version was a lower priced M3 & C63 fighter and now it's a higher priced sub-compact M2, CLA45 & RS3 fighter?
Yea, I was thinking the same, doesn't make much sense.
Agree 100%. I compare this car to the M3 and the CT5-V BW to the M5/e63
They want it to compete with the M2? Really? In what aspect should they be compared? I'm genuinely interested lol
Mostly price is all that we see. 😂
It's better than the M2 because it has more horsepower, looks better, and is cheaper. This is a home run for Cadillac!
I try to support American industry and these vehicles make that possible.
Love watching you guys laugh
Automatic. Stick is nostalgic but gets old fast. But that’s me.
If anything this looks better than new M3/M4 front grill.
All these compliments in the comments section won’t transfer into good sales numbers. There’s a reason when car prices get to a certain point the Germans and Tesla getting all the money.
It's just not me, but some will love it
Scary power it has
Love the exhaust note and value. Way less than the bmw.s. 3.9 0-60 is awesome!
From what i understand the key is supposed to match whatever brake caliper color you choose
This would be insane with the v8 from the camaro, making almost 600 hp
I bet you could tune that TT engine to push closer to 600 lol
Yeah its called the CT5- V Blackwing. Supercharged V8
We have two ATS-V's, both tuned on E85 and making ~620 and 720 at the wheels.

I use the m3 m4 photos to have my wife to practice with her gag reflex. So far things have improved.
Auto journalists just cant let go of the whole V naming thing. We get it, its not confusing.
Looks good in white I must say.
Much better. Especially outlooks.
The greatest thing the Blackwing has going for it against the M3 is the grill.
It looks remarkably like 2017 Holden Commodore, then made in Australia
6speed, RWD, American based, Sold...
I will never buy American and German due to reliability issues, but this car looks gorgeous. Cadillac definitely improved the look on this car.
I have both and can attest that the German stuff out of warranty is scary. 'Only' have 63k miles on the '17 CTS-V so can't say much other than it's nearly bulletproof so far (I had no reservations, pardon the pun, ordering the CT5-V BW which should arrive late this month.)
Love these. Only thing I hate is they cheaped out on the autos, only the manual equipped cars come with engines that have titanium connecting rods. Which is really annoying for auto guys.
You can’t overrev the auto…Ti rods would be useless
@@GHinWI Well... until or if they can be tuned. I've raised the limits on our two ATS-V's and one is hitting 7200 rpm.
oh yeah I forgot cadillacs still existed lol
I hope this time GM advertises this appropriately. It certainly deserves it but GM just doesn’t seem to care about their products.
Why? It's sold out and they'll build more as people show up to order them? No reason to advertise since you're going in a different direction away from ICE cars. Leave this for true enthusiasts who won't need the advertising to know what the BWs can do.

Cadillac FAIL. Buyers can't even see them.
Plan to upgrade my 2014 Vsport to the manual
Auto week did a V report and a Honda (boy racer) report and didn’t mention the caddy was a better performer. This is way hotter.
So the old ats-v competed with the m3 and c63 but the new bigger and heavier ct4-v blackwing competes with the m2 and cla45 . Why would they do that? Is it so they can claim they have class leading power and other specs or something?
For me the 10 speed is better but I get why manual is the desired choice for enthusiasts, these are the last cars with a proper manual, Mercedes doesn't offer their modern cars with an auto neither does BMW neither audi so this is the tail tail sign for the last manual car ever. This all That's left
It's this or the IS 500 F Sport Performance. The TLX Type S is a huge fail for me.
I am on the same page as you. Would love the manual but my cautious frugal side says IS 500. Both cars are cool looking and can be in the same price range if spec’d correctly. Did you end up getting either of these cars?
