We figured having a CT5-V Blackwing-with its 668-hp supercharged V-8, manual transmission, and ability to overpower its rear tires easily-for an extended stay would be exciting. Thrilling, even. The pulse rising started on day one. Even while we were fully respecting the 1500-mile break-in protocol
of not exceeding 4000 rpm or using full throttle, the Caddy ferociously spun its tires on a chilly, wet day. But we had no idea the adventure we were in for. A heart transplant didn't stop this super-sedan from rip-roaring into our good graces-and across the country on a 48-state road trip.

My 2022 CT5-V Blackwing is going through this exact problem. I only have 14,500 miles on the car and it's in the shop now waiting on a new motor. But this isn't the first time it has been in the shop since owning the car for only 14 months. I've had to replace the alternator and water pump, with these two parts failing the car had to be towed, once being on the side of the highway. And I've had to replace a catalytic converter, and the rear differential already. This brings us to the latest visit to the dealer where it is now waiting for a new motor because a spark plug failed causing the misfire and damaging the engine in the process. I've also seen a video of another Blackwing misfiring on RUclips because of a failed spark plug. I'm already in the works on getting GM to buy the car back under the lemon law and I expect more people to follow. I love this car but the headache from all these major failures has taken the excitement out of owning this car. Every drive I'm looking at the dash expecting a warning message. I know what they say about owning the first year of a new model but since the engine, transmission, and suspension have already been used numerous times in a number of GM models I took a chance. There's a problem with these engines and GM is going to have to address it soon. Good Luck to anyone who owns this car and is planning on owning one.

Review AFTER 2 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP!
I purchased my 2022 CT5 in August 2022. Saying that my experience owning this vehicle has been a nightmare is an understatement. Here are the list of major repairs/replacements I’ve had within 2 years of owning; Engine Head Gasket, Transmission Transfer Case, entire Transmission assembly, front Seat lumbar units, steering wheel boot, interior door trim panels, O2 Sensors, and so on. All of this has been replaced within less than 2 years of owning this vehicle. I had decided to purchase my first ever car from Cadillac as the brand stood for luxury and reliability. I put my hard earned money, and that too quiet a lot of it, towards this car. If I had known what I was in for, I would’ve went for Cadillac’s competition. It’s a shame because the CT5 is a very good looking vehicle and it drives nice. However the amount of Repairs and unreliability overshadows the whole experience. Looks can be deceiving! If you’re in the market for a new luxury vehicle, I’d take a one good look at this vehicle, admire its good looks, maybe even sit in it or take some photos and then proceed to purchase a German or a Japanese competitor brand!

I love how all this stuff that should come standard on a car you're paying 80k for are all nickel and dime-ing extra fees slapped on top. What a joke our world has become. Everywhere I look all I see is greed.

The number one thing a driver can do to mitigate slips and slides, esp. in a RWD... is to have a manual transmission. There is an enormous amount of control that can be had with the clutch alone that is simply not matched on any automatic transmission, whether AWD or not.
As a person who grew up and still lives in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, all three of my cars are manuals and I will never buy anything different. Sure, modern autos are quick and easy to drive, but they're not safer, they're not easier to repair, and they're certainly more expensive to repair. Big deal, your paddle shifters shave milliseconds off shift times, but that's only useful on a racetrack. For the rest of us who never track our cars, better go with the manual.
