    Paul is THE MAN for putting these enthusiast cars through their paces. So nonchalant as he comments on the cars dynamics at 130mph plus. As far as the car, this seems to live up to the old Cadillac tag line “Standard of the World”.

    That is the last great sedan from GM because it is a supercharged not turbo charged V8.

    at 2:06 does that say 11.3 at 129 mph? If so, that's absolutely remarkable. That would make it faster than the ZL1 and quite a bit faster than the CTS-V

      By comparison Cadillac quoted the gen 3 CTSV at 3.5 0-60 and 11.6@126 mph in the 1/4, so not sure id say "quite a bit faster" few tenths and few mph on a car like this is pretty insignificant really in the real world, drivers race not to mention the endless aftermarket these cars and the way people modify these cars for generations now, I went 10.8@129 mph in the 1/4 mile in my gen 3 CTSV tune only for example. Cool car, but not really anything revolutionary here.

    • @rdollie1
      @rdollie1 2 года назад +1

      @@schmidtytuning8954 I think it depends on what you plan to do with the car. I'm not a drag racer but I do road courses where several seconds PER LAP is quite significant.

    • @schmidtytuning8954
      @schmidtytuning8954 2 года назад

      @@rdollie1 I can agree with that, but honestly I think the ATSV/CT4 BW is the better track car, yea the lap times are hair quicker in the ctsv/ct5v stock for stock but the smaller , lighter more agile car is better over the long haul and the turbo system suffers less from heat soak than the blower
      These new black wings are basically parts bin cars built from the outgoing atsv and ctsv, obviously theyre not going to make them slower, but I also think a large part of why theyre faster comes down to the tires because I went from the old michelin ss to what comes on the new ones, the PS4S and the difference in how the car hooked and handled was just dramatically better
      I guess what im trying to say is you can take the older version and put some better tires on and have a pretty equal car

      @@schmidtytuning8954 I didn’t realize they quoted the CTS-V as being that fast. Real world numbers didn’t seem to match up, most videos I’ve seen of them had them running low 12s at ~120 mph

    Paul,
    Another amazing ride (CT5 and your taming it on VIR!).
    Totally wierd/crazy 3rd task for this Master of all Trades. Set it up to pull a travel trailer and you can bring a favorite home-on-the-road as you tour parts of the US on a racetrack touring vacation. Tow a couple days, run a high level track for a day, take a couple days to relax, and repeat the vacation cycle.
    Many mid-size sedans with good cooling systems can tow well set with properly set-up WD. The Blackwing with 668 / 659 and cooling to take on VIR would make short work of casual towing with the hitch done right.
    Luxury race track vacation in an Airstream and CT5 DW. ….
    You could tow your vacation residence and track drive as part of your vacation too.
    Thanks for the real tour de force with the CT5 BW on VIR. Keep em coming!!

    Here’s a little secret boys and girls as well as the uninitiated. BMW is notorious for underrating the power of their Cars, especially their M cars. F90 M5s constantly put down over 620-630hp at the wheels!!! Hence that coupled with their AWD equates to ballistic 0-60 and 1/4 mile times which dip into the 10s. This Cadillac would be left for dead.

    Regardless how gr8 U believe U r, U can't shift faster the manual transmission than the reworked 10spd auto. Back in the days manual transmission was the way to go in cars. Automatic transmission was limited to 2,3 gears. Drivers got the manual for the additional gear plus no slippage like automatic transmission. Now, it's the opposite. Most manual transmission are 5,6,7. Automatic transmission has 6,8,9,10. Sign of the times. DCT, can outperform many manuals. PROGRESS
