    A cabin air filter is an air purification filter designed to remove the microscopic dust, allergens, pollutants and other particles that come into the passenger cabin of your vehicle through its air vents. A dirty cabin air filter, clogged with dirt, dust, smelly mold and allergens, can also impact the performance of your defroster, heating and AC.

    My Haynes manual had me ripping the dashboard apart and pulling the glove box out. I still couldn't figure out how to get at the filter based on their instructions. Your video was quite clear, and I did not have to take the glove box out. Thanks

    Thanks. This is probably the most helpful "how to" video I've seen. I watched this and was able to replace my cabin air filter in about 10 min. from start to finish. I also loosened the hex holding the vent to the right of the filter cover. This vent can be pushed up and out of the way to gain a little extra space. Great video!

    My Focus is still relatively new, so I haven't changed mine yet. Now you know how to access this cabin filter, you can simply do a visual check by opening that access door under the console and pull the cabin filter out a little bit (see how dirty it is) between 10,000 - 15,000mi. Change if it has turned very dark....

    LOL...because they want you to bring it to the dealer for service. However; I do give Ford Focus Engineers credits for providing us a BIGGER glove box for storage, by moving the cabin filter out of the conventional location which is behind the glove box in most cars these days.

      +phil mason Cabin filter is one of the great feature in modern cars. This filter not out help to clean the air you breath inside the car but it also helps on keeping debris out (like leaves & dirt) to clog your car's HVAC system. If you have to ask, nothing will physically be broken if you never changed the cabin filter, but your AC/Heat will not be efficient due to the clogging of this filter which slows down the airflow runs by the fan. Typically you can change the cabin filter with the engine air filter together (as one less item to remember) since they both encounter the same outside air, but it's not always mandatory.

    When you're reinstalling the filter, how can you be sure that the opposite end has returned to its original shape? From your video, you suggested flexing/bowing the end of the filter which goes into the receptacle. Thanks!

    • @moomoo97
      @moomoo97  10 лет назад +2

      It will. As long as you keep the 'squeeze' of the filter in finger-point and gentle manner, this type of pleated air filter will always spring back to its original shape. But if you're still concerned, you can always blow the fan in high speed AFTER re-installing the filter and let the high velocity air stretches the filter back for you.

    Thank you. I don't think I could have done this without the video - very poor design. I decided to check the filter because my air conditioning drain, which is also in that area, was plugged with a screw and was leaking (the dealer said they fixed it, it kept leaking, I found the screw clogging the drain...). The cabin air filter was damp, possibly from that leak or just from being near the soaked carpet, so I'm glad I changed it. Excellent video!

    Great video! All told it took me about 20 minutes, including 5 minutes of fusing and cussing. I'm not sure moom emphasized that the going in filter is at a good sized angle relative to the fuse wires and modules- heads up. You might need to pull it back a few times and renter. You'll think it's not going in correctly, but you'll know pretty quickly if you guide it like he states. Interestingly, the plastic screw in cover was difficult to get back on. I ended up screwing it back in and then pushing on it. Gradually apply force until you hear the rengagement clicks. It's not all the way in and secured until you hear the clicks. All in all, easier, but not much easier, than I thought. If somebody can tell me how to add photos to a post, I'll take pics of my 4 year old filter. It's almost jet black!

    I am not Mr Handyman by any means, but this is a five minute job. This video did the trick, although a bit long. Three key steps..how to access the old, how to remove it, and then maneuvering in the new one was a snap. Thanks for posting

      Thanks for watching and the feedback. It really is a 10-minute job max when knowing how to get around that space. This video is long because I intended to give a full instructional video to showcase all the details/pitfalls on how to get it done. So no one will be leaving here guessing. :)

    Not too terribly difficult -- a little tight, but you made it look fairly easy. Thanks!

    Focus MK3 Titanium has another cable in the front. Do you know what that is?

    It is be seen hard also very hard. Shown filter is paper (fiber) and flexible. But original filter is charocal (carbon) in my car (2012/09) It was not been flex. I can not pull out like shown this video. Try and try but not. Because it is more thick then paper and solid. I dont know how i can do it. I guess, I have to pull out fuse box too.
