- A video showing and describing how easy it is to change the cabin (or pollen to Ford) air filter. Do yourself a favor and save yourself $70. Dealerships always get people with these when in fact you can have it done in less than 30 minutes.
If you found this video helpful and want to donate anything at all I would appreciate it. If not I'm still glad the video could help you.

By far the best tutorial video I’ve seen yet. Straight to the point no stupid jokes explaining every move I hope to see more videos from you.
THANK YOU for posting this! Took me less than 10 minutes. My dealer was trying to charge me $86!!
SP97 I'm glad to hear that you saved money. I can't believe what they try to charge.
@@MichaelLemosKilluminati5176_ It sounds like they are charging 1 hr labor@ 86/hr
Thanks for the excellent video - really appreciate it. Looks pretty easy.
Thanks, Chilton said to remove glove box. After an hour of that and still not getting the glove box move I watched this ran out and replaced it in 5 minutes. Thank you !
Glad I could help!!
5 years ago but your exact story is mine today. Just got my car from the dealer for dual clutch issues. I can do this part myself 🙃 thank you!
This is the first thing I've ever done on my car that could be considered mechanical, and your video was a great help in getting it done. Thanks a ton.
I am glad this helped.
Believe it or not, but these are the same steps for replacing the cabin air filter in a 2019 Ford Transit Connect Passenger Van. I couldn't find the instructions for my Connect Passenger Van but then I found this video and viola I now know how to change my cabin filter. Great video. Thank you for making and sharing it.
Thanks for sharing that! I never knew.
Just did this by myself for the first time. Thank you for making this video!!
Great video! Simple explanation of the change and good video of the locations of components that need to be removed and replaced. Perfect video for us DIYer's. Thanks for taking the time to do it.
Replaced this with this video. Ridiculous that Ford wants $70 bucks to replace the filter. Thanks for uploading this
Holy hell was that filter a pain to pull out and replace. Little to no wiggle room. Thank you for making this and saving me at least $40 in labor costs.
Looks simple. Yeah I’m so glad that I did my research before purchasing a focus because I went with the 6 speed manual ecoboost. Thanks for taking the time to show this filter replacement.
Thanks for this, It's engineering like this which essentially ensures that the average owner HAS to have the dealer do the job that is frustrating.
Agreed
Stupid ford bull shit like always
Thanks. I watched another video showing him putting the cabin filter the other way round, after watching this I pulled it back out and flipped it around. Hardest part is putting that thing back in 😵
thank you the best illustrated video for this so far..its not easy but afterwards so happy
Well instructed video. Nicely done. Seven minutes to save $55 bucks.
Appreciate the vid bro. Came for the car but I subbed for the gaming page ✊🏾
Finally and thank you for this video. Works for cmax too!
They wanted it $80 for the filter I got it for $50 & $100 to fit it . Love 💕 you’re page keep it going mate. 🇦🇺👏👏👏.
Thank you for the video! Very informative and the side by side visual of the filters made me realize I need to check mine.
oh Gosh, tried putting the plastic lid on backwards for like 15 minutes. Yes, I finally figured it out lol. great video 😎😎
+Max I'm glad it helped, and I know that lid was tricky.
Did this today, replacing the original filter after 80K miles in my 2012 Focus. It looked 10x worse than yours! Terrible engineering to make a simple filter change so difficult - you did save me $55. Thanks
Excellent job!. Thanks for the tip on how to insert the new filter 👍
Thanks for the guide. Now to try it myself
Thank You! Super clear and you saved this preschool teacher some $$$.
Thanks for posting. That was bang on and very helpful
Burned myself pretty good on one of the vacuum hoses but got the job done thanks to this video!
Me too haha I didn't understand why those hose were hot
Thanks man I didn't even know this was thing till I saw this on tiktok
Thank you! Huge money saver and you made it really simple to understand.
Jamie Fuller Glad the video was useful.
Awesome video Michael! Made this completely understandable.
Katie Whiting glad it helped!
Thanks for the instruction Michael, I am after changing my own filter thanks to your video.
thanks for making this video! they tried charging me $90 and I just did it myself in 10 minutes for $13!!
Shana Lewis you are welcome, glad I could help you save as well.
Mechanics disgust me with the prices they charge
Thanks a lot for your videos. 👍
This is the best video anybody did on this. However, there is a trick to make it easier as stiffer filters won't bend and might actually get destroyed. The trick is really to remove the two fat wire plugs in front of the entry. To remove the plugs you have to simultaneously push in two little plastic pins on the left and right side in the base of the fixation bow of the plugs, then the bow can be lifted completely upwards and the plugs move out.
Thank you for the video, but wow, kudos to Ford for making this so simple. *rolls eyes* Couldn't have put it in the glove compartment now could we? LOL. I change my Honda's quicker than it takes to fill up with gas. Changing this filter is NOT as easy as it looks, but this video will help.
exactly-we wouldn't want it to be too easy and accessible for the DIY folks. So we'll make it hard n punishing for them and our $$$ hr techs to do.
Thanks mate from Australia 🇦🇺. great job 💙so easy next time show me how to replace the Plugs. 🏁
THANK MAN
My 2015 focus titanium is at the dealer right now for the same trans/clutch issue. And they are running the same game with me. I will do the cabin filter myself. Thanks for the video.
You are welcome
Hurt like hell but got it done. Thanks bud!
Great presentation, very helpful. Thank you kid, greatly appreciated!
s2kvozac Thank you for your feedback. Hopefully for my next video I hold the camera correctly and it fills up the screen 😊
Going to try this now myself. Video gives me some confidence.
Very good video. Easy to follow and very detailed.
Awesome illustration.
Thanks Michael!.... I'm overdue and just had a A/C related hiccup on my 2015 that the cabin filter was mentioned on blogs so changing tonight.
Paul Scaglione no problem, I hope all goes well.
Appreciate it today, helped me out a ton with mine!
Thanks. I was trying to get to it thru the glove box. Couldn't remove the box so I turned to RUclips. Winning!
Very clear, and good video Michael Lemos
Mission accomplished, thank you very much. On to an oil change!
Thanks for taking the time to make and post this,
MrCoolerdave you are welcome
After struggling to get that filter back in I think next time I'll have my mechanic do it. $56 to avoid the frustration, worth it.
This is so helpfull thanx Michael!
Thanks Michael, Very helpful and concise!
Tim Burkert glad you found this helpful!
Dude you just saved me 100 dollars! Thanks!
You are very welcome.
Does that include the charge for the estimate?
The SECRET to installing one of these in the Focus is.... kinda hard to explain. But basically, if you'll grab the short sides with your middle finger and thumb, and pinch them together, it will squeeze the new filter (acordion-like) into a (more or less) circle. THEN, you hold the now circle-ish filter up to the housing, and let go of the inboard edge of the filter, and POP! It un-accordions into the slot, all by itself.
That secret saves a little bit of frustration during this process!
You can also use this trick when you remove the old filter; because it's gentler than grabbing and yanking it out of the housing, it reduces the amount of dirt and dust that go flying onto the floor mat!
To make it even easier the writing on the plastic cover goes filter side inward... 10 mins loads of swearing a brew and a cig later I realised it was the wrong way haha. Cheers
Should have read your reply before I figured this out on my own by way of trial and error. LOL
You have just saved me putting $texas into the swear jar!!
Thanks!
Thanks, 10 seconds to put in
T20 screw worked for me. Got a ‘14 Ford Focus.
Very well explained. Thank you
thanks for the video just what I needed Michael
Richard Witherspoon you're welcome. Glad it helped.
Thanks, very useful. Same set up for right hand drive too.
Lee Gardner glad that this helped you as well!
Just a friendly fyi. The odometer LCD screen will eventually go. You can buy a brand new one on eBay for 100. Takes less than 20 minutes to change. Dealership will want to charge you 1200 for entire instrument cluster. Not needed!
seriously? my dealer wanted $120 to do that? wow, thanks dude the video was kinda tiny but I got the jist
Next time I will keep a mental note to make a video horizontal haha
extremely usefull I really appreciate, I almost broke the damm thing xd
Thank you. This was very helpful.
Gee whiz, thanks to your vlog i pinpointed mines. Owners manual says its behind the glove box, WTF!! already considering bringing down tje entire dash assebly... Thx Man you saved me.
Angelo Lopecuazto does mycar have warnty
@@felipeperez4556 Miles and Years that should tell you.
2012 85k miles
I am glad this saved you from having to do all of that!
Oh thanks for this video!
Great vid Thankyou
Thank you also saved me $56. Btw I on my third clutch at 96000 miles.
+Jeff Buchanan sorry to hear that, but I am glad that I was able to help.
Dope video!
Than you for usefull clip
I have a question:
Where can i buy black clips?
Good video the torque screw I used was t20 I also pulled out the white fuses harness (both). And made it a bit easier. USE KNEE PADS
Great job! Thank you!
Thanks bro, I just changed mine it was so dirty and black I can't believe I was breathing that inside my car.
Exactly my thought when I see my air filter lol
Thanks dude! This info helped a lot!
Excellent video!
Good info.
Excellent video. We’ve used this twice to change the cabin air filter in my daughter’s 2014 Ford Focus. The others show taking the entire glove box out, but that does not match up to her vehicle.
I am glad that this video was helpful!
Very clear and super helpful!! Thanks 😊
Great help thanks 🙏🏾
Me estaba volviendo loco, gracias genio
Wish you showed how to install the new filter, mine had trouble with clearance on top and it would crumple while trying to fit the top and bottom in.
Short sweet and to the point 👍
Great video!!! This really helped me out!! Thank you
Nice and very useful video. Hope things are the same in my Focus here in Brasil...
Gracias me ayudo
Thank you sir
great video! super helpful! Thank!
Polen filter was halfway in , and then it wouldnt move more, i carefully looked what the fuk is wrong and realised it was facing wrong way, GOD DAYM , needed to redo putting, im happy that it got in
Thanks for tutorial
Also, that car i was fixing didnt have any screw, probably costumers fault ,idk, but it had space for it.
You helped out a lot
How often do you change your cabin filter?
Would this improve bad smell from ac vent thanks
You were right, those pipes were hot
Thanks for posting!
Thank you so much for this video!! And eff the clutch problem with the Ford Focuses! Have had to get mine replaced once a year! -__-
Thank you so much, now only if I could figure out the infuriating rubbing/grinding noise coming from the wheels or steering on my 2012 titanium. It's not the motor mount issue like the other videos on here. It happens when the car is actually moving. Could be a wheel bearing, not sure.
Great video. Thanks
You are the best. Thanx bro
How do you know when it needs to be changed
Thanks. Very helpful.
Thanks Guy
good focus on the camera and notice to smaller details
Michael Cheong Thank you. It wasn't until after I posted until I noticed that I didn't record in landscape :(.
Michael Lemos,
The video would have been much better in landscape mode, and also if it included the part showing how you actually put the new filter back into the housing. Why stop recording at that crucial spot? (I agree that the focus/detail overall was great.)
Yep!! had my clutch replaced also I was wondering were that filter location was at thanks again!👍
