Just checked my 2003 F150, and same thing. I have owned this truck 20 years now, did many oil changes myself and had many oil changes done by Jiffy Lube. What pisses me off is, those little thieving rats brought a filthy cabin air filter to the waiting room, dusty, leaves, mold...asked if I wanted a new one, which I gladly paid for so I didn't have to do it. I knew better than to trust a shop but they were strict about customers walking through the shop. I got taken many times on this. Probably didn't even change the oil filter. Thanks for taking the time to make this video🙂
They said 99 doesn't have one I pulled a disgusting old filter out of mine just now in 2024 and completely appalled by how shitty it is I was thinking I didn't have one for a long time until I reached up in there and watched this video step by step like you said. Thanks for your help though the simple task at hand
Liked your video, but something i dont think many people are aware of is the early 1999 F350 is totally different under the dash, among some other things. Mine is a one owner (inherited from my dad in 08) F350 crewcab dully, 7.3, auto w/tow package, 95,000 original miles. Produce in 08/98. It has no provision for a cabin air filter. This doesn't surprise me. They also have a different turbo compressor wheel, it's better than the later ones.
I got an 03 and just recently got the ac fixed, only to find it's blowing its ass off but barely anything at the vents. Can't believe you have to cut the filter out. Can't wait to do this in the am. It's too damn hot!!!
Did mine 2 years ago. I think Ford start with the frame, and the 1st part they put on is a heater core, and everything else gets bolted on around it. There is zero reason why it cant be placed inside a removable ABS housing under the dash.
this is probably the most informative video i have ever seen on youtube!!!!what i want to know is how you found that filter in the first place?? i would have never found it if i tore the whole pick up apart!!!! thanks for saving me 6 months of putting my pickup back together!! thanks for the great video!!!!
I felt like there had to be some type of filter. A guy that I deal with at the Ford Dealer Parts Dept did some digging and found me a Part#. I had the Parts Manager at Advance Auto to cross the Part#.
I also took the blower motor off because of lack of airflow put my phone up the hole took a picture of a/c condenser coil plugged up looks like black potting soil had to get a good tarp put it on the floor use a/c coil cleaner spray that than after 10 minutes use a garden hose to rinse off got the airflow to return without spending 2 k remove the whole dash
I loved your video! I have a 2003 F-150 and was contemplating changing the cabin air filter. I was curious about where it was located, which you indicated in your video. After seeing what you had to go through, I'm not sure I want to give it a try!
Thanks for this great video brother, you know what remove the lines of the compressor ...its easy??...and, if I remove the compressor the truck continues to operate normally?...best regards from México.
A housing which accepted a filter was an option, at least there was a part number for it. I tried to buy one for my '02 when I still had it, but was told it was NLA.
Now I'm really confused, I got 2003 Ford F-150, is there a cabin filter or did my truck did not come with one now I'm not going to cut the plastic I'll just to see if it has one unless I know
I would call the local Ford Dealer Parts Department and give them the last (8) of the Vin#. Chances are they will not have one due to the year. But they maybe able to provide that information for you.
If you look in that area and do not see a Cabin Air Clean Cover. And you have looked all over to find a Air Filter Cover. That is a indication that you will need to do the same thing.
I did this to mine today and i had no air filter in there but bunch of small leaves fell out from my old place..I really wish i would’ve finished watching the entire video before i started forcing the filter in and ruining it.
I just bought a 2002 ford f150 with 315000 miles on it for $1000 and it runs great but there is a power steering fluid leak and I have no idea how to go about it. Do you have any ideas as to where I can start befroe I just say fuck it and pay a lot at the mechanic shop
I haven't heard or seen any power steering issue with these vehicles. It may just be a power steering hose. Notice the location of fluid on the ground and search up from there.
2002 F150 owner - I had no idea! Excellent information! Thanks much and blessings to you!

Wow! What a story. Thank you for sharing 👍🏽
This is why you have to keep them receipts because I'm sure somebody at corporate will be writing me a check!!!
I've heard of that happening to people. I never go to those oil change places. My truck is the same as his and I had to cut the plate out also.
Ese filtro que le puso a la f150 es de lo más corriente, ya que esta fabricado en China, y en ese país solo hacen productos de muy baja calidad.

Great video. Proof that a good ol country boy can fix about anything.
Great video. I didn't have a saw small enough to get in there, just used a box cutter and came out smooth. Thanks for the info.
Good deal 👍🏽
Thanks for showing all great steps. I followed your steps precisely.
I Like Your Style! There's nothing like a good sharp pocket knife for some cutting needs🙂
Gracias, desde Monterrey Nuevo León, México.

Great job man! I am excited to find out if my truck has installed filter from factory..
97’ f150.
I thank you for this video my brother in Christ im going to do this right now.
Great...
thank you. If you thought that was tough, check out a video on replacing the heater core ;-)
Lol, I have done it 3 times, already!! I am a pro at it now
Oh no I have to fix mine

Thanks You
nice truck!

Wow👌
Thank you for sharing 👍🏽
Going to do this soon, im in California emissions test are tough but ford didn't care about the air we breath in our own car 😂
Done, I used a multi tool and blade,
Thanks for the video 💪
A vibrating tool will cut through the plastic with a smoother cut, reducing cleanup time.
I cut that slot out and there was nothing in there lmao..... They left them out so i added one idk
Thanks from Mexico
😅Thanks. My Heritage has no recess for the filter. Great job creating the space for filter but I will leave mine as is for the next 20 years. 😊
😁
I loved your video! I have a 2003 F-150 and was contemplating changing the cabin air filter. I was curious about where it was located, which you indicated in your video. After seeing what you had to go through, I'm not sure I want to give it a try!
I can understand that!
Great video. My 2001 Ford F-150 doesn't have a filter.
👍🏽
I thought mine was broke the reason it had duct tape so I just need to clean the hole and put my filter in ty
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💪👍👍👍
Thanks for this great video brother, you know what remove the lines of the compressor ...its easy??...and, if I remove the compressor the truck continues to operate normally?...best regards from México.
Si continúa normal sin el compresor, pero ya no vas a tener aire acondicionado
Same 2003 Ford XLT FX4 shows it has a cabin filter but NO cabin filter lol
Nice video bro…..what these “ engineers “ where thinking before design this?
Good question 👍🏽
A housing which accepted a filter was an option, at least there was a part number for it. I tried to buy one for my '02 when I still had it, but was told it was NLA.
So old model don’t have cabin filter from assembled?
It came as an option. Usually had to be special ordered If you wanted it
Now I'm really confused, I got 2003 Ford F-150, is there a cabin filter or did my truck did not come with one now I'm not going to cut the plastic I'll just to see if it has one unless I know

Good ya Body👍
My air is not blowing cold air this can fix it I check everything else but this
Did you recharge the ac?
was there a filter in the box from factory??????????
No Sir, there was no filter at all in box.
Anything like this for 2013-2014 f150 ????
I don't have one on my Channel.
My Ford 03 f150 doesn't have a cabin air filter.
Does anybody know does a 1997 Ford F150 have a cabin filter
How do I know that I need to do this to my truck.?
If you look in that area and do not see a Cabin Air Clean Cover. And you have looked all over to find a Air Filter Cover. That is a indication that you will need to do the same thing.
Great job ford screw up thanks
I did this to mine today and i had no air filter in there but bunch of small leaves fell out from my old place..I really wish i would’ve finished watching the entire video before i started forcing the filter in and ruining it.
I will say this i cut the piece out rather quickly with a brand new utility knife and a pocket knife for the short edges
I have a 1997 ford f150, so I don’t have a cabin air filter?
Look underneath your Glovebox near the Heater Core. If you do not see a Filter type Door. Chances are you have no Filter.
Ya it baffles me ford never made that a door for us to swap it out
"Yeah, there's a cover alright." 🙄
where is/was the old filter
The Truck never had a Cabin Air Filter.
I just bought a 2002 ford f150 with 315000 miles on it for $1000 and it runs great but there is a power steering fluid leak and I have no idea how to go about it. Do you have any ideas as to where I can start befroe I just say fuck it and pay a lot at the mechanic shop
